VG Paladins RPG, using RPG Maker 2003! The only problem? The project would be huge, and take a whole crapload of time to make. But, I'd be willing to do it. But, it might not live up to par, becauseto make this viable are No player dialouge (the VG Paladins don't speak. At all).
I'd like some input on this. I'd need help with sprites. Preferably, each Paladin makes their own battle and over-world sprites, based off of the ones avalible in RPG maker 2003.
But, before I even start this game, I'd like to know one thing. Is everyone interested? Cause if less than 10 people are, I don't think I'll do it.

Ragnarok Ninja X It's a good idea, but I can't even make an animated sprite.. --; Actually, I used to know, but forgot. crying Luckily, it's pretty easy in RPG Maker. On a sheet, they have the frames already done. For example, the first three on the top are the Samurai sprite's left punch. The next row is the right punch, and the bottom is the "idle" stance. You could edit those quite easily, and when you import it into RPG Maker, it would come out as an animation. So, you're in luck!

I'm mildy interested... and I'm pretty good at making sprites. I alter ones from Sailor Moon: Another Story all the time.
But... why won't we have any dialogue?

Trajedy I'm mildy interested... and I'm pretty good at making sprites. I alter ones from Sailor Moon: Another Story all the time. But... why won't we have any dialogue? Well, we might. The problem is that when Events happen, like a cut scene, you'll have different characters in your party. For example, I could be playing with my party as Myself, Ember, Ninja X, and Super Sailor Moon. But you could be playing as Yourself, Sgt. Baker, HellZero, and SS Moon. So, when we come to a cut scene, I wouldn't be able to do cutscenes for both sets of parties. I could do it for just the hero speaking, but I don't know enough yet to make it for entire different parties. In other words, with my ability level right now, it's more like Dragon Warrior 3 and less like Final Fantasy.

I found this funky site which has a decent chara/face/battle editor thingy a while back while searching one of those sites with links to odd sites. It might come in handy if you are serious about doing this and aren't very good at making the sprites yourself or just need some bases to work with. The site can be pretty slow though, so you might wanna download the Charas.ex thing from the link in the top right which lets you do it offline, although some of the graphics are missing (like.. all but one of the battle suits and the whole face editor) but the battle ones you might not need depending on the RPGMaker version you are planning on using, and the face one can just be used on the laggy site. wink http://charas-project.net/index.php?lang=en Rawr. Devil/jester/granny/maid thing with a huge spear.

It could be interesting, but what would the story be? The world has fallen into the hand of Sir Trollalot and his minions of noobs, it is up to the VG Paladins to save the world from this terrible fate! I could help, like designing map, since I've been using 2000 for some time, and theres not much difference between 2000 and 2003.

Well, if you're willing to wait a while, the way I'm planning the system for Crescent Legends, it will be possible to make other games using it, too. The combat system would be harder to override, and you'd need to know Java, (well, maybe just a little, actually--it would mostly be putting stuff into documents in the format it wants, and the instructions would be included) but you wouldn't have restrictions like RPG maker has. The only restrictions are what I say, and I can change those, too. wink

I could probably put this entire thing together in Flash. Problem is, SO MUCH ******** ACTIONSCRIPT! I only began learning ActionScript, and I don't want to be over-loaded with coding.

And the bosses would be the stuff we fight against (for example, one boss would be Halo's Master Chief, considering the amount of Halo threads, another would be Cloud, on the misplaced FF threads, etc.) Partisus Well, if you're willing to wait a while, the way I'm planning the system for Crescent Legends, it will be possible to make other games using it, too. But, if you could point me to a place that would teach my enough to know what the hell I'm doing, I'm interested for sure.

If you do do this, I'll help giving ideas for the story and what not. o_o Say the VGP has been so successful, they decided to venture further into Gaia to assist many other forums as well. But while the VGP would be fighting against common misplaced threads and trolls, back in the Videogame Discussions forum, Sephiroth escapes from the Final Fantasy forum, and causes trouble in the Videogame Discussions forum. And.. there can be this one, stubborn newb who keeps coming back and stuff.. o_o And.. yeah.
.. I think I should work on the story for Crescent Legends before I work on this though. >_<
