Reido is our main attacks against hollow beings. We all can use it given that very fun hollow slaughter we just had. I have now come up with a clear definition of how reido can cancel out cero.
Before we get to this let's examine cero.
Cero is the menos grande's main attack. It is done by focusing negative reiatsu into a concentrated ball and releasing the reiatsu. Upon release the energy explodes into a beam of intense power and destruction. Depend on who fires, the power of cero can very and is usually determined by color.
Red:the basic color of cero and is usuable by any menos class hollow.
Green: An amped up type of cero that can only be fired by extremely high ranking hollows and arrancar.
Blue:Also known as grand ray cero this is the most powerfull and the most deady as seen in the anime it can create a rift do tho it's power. This cero is resevered for espada only and vaizard if they are able to reach that level.
Reido: Reiod is the main attack of the zaigou. It is similar to cero in almost every way except that it's color is black and it power level is only as good as the zaigou is fires it. While cero can be fired out of almost any wa on a hollow, reido can only be shot from the hands.
The way reido is able to negate the effect of cero is that both attacks are negative energies. It is simple math and science, when two negative number are multiplied or divided together they make a positive number. In science two similarities repel.
However if a reido was fired on a none hollow creature such as a bount it would have a similar affect to cero.
Reido can also affect other zaigou as cero can affect other hollow being.

I have been thinking about this since it went up. I'd like to add a few suggestions.
1. As the colors go red, green, blue for the Cero, and the only color available to us is black, I'd like to suggest that either a) we have black haloed with red, green and blue (following the ceros) or b) we have them fire in a different manner (as the low level is just a beam, the mid level is a beam with braids wrapped around it of more reido, and an ingathering of energy just before the fire, and the last level being the standard pulse from the palm, but with a gatling gun kind of fire from the fingertips around it, like a vulcan cannon.) Any of these will show the relative level of the reido to the enemy.
2. I think that given the doble cero that Nel can do, we need to come up with some sort of counter or any other way of increasing or personalizing the reido.
3. Given that many of us are coming up with character sketches of ourselves, I think there needs to be some sort standardization of how the reido effect operates for us. Say, when using it, the hand glows as well as the Zaigou symbol glowing at the same time, maybe the body being haloed in the same black fire when it's ready to be fired, or how it flows off the body and into the hand and beam when it's fired.
Any other thoughts?

I think that's interesting...
I was thinking, doesn't just about every Shinigami have their own...color? Maybe that could be intertwined with the Reido somehow to add a unique flair?

Well from watching the newer episode it appears that the arrnacar cero is based on the reiatsu color and not strength wise.
So i say we go with the type of beam fired like Daven said and then we could add or own reiatsu collor as a trim of some sort.
I guess mine would have a gold trim

And, while we're talking about personalizing the reido, how about each shinigami working it into their other powers?
Like, in mine, after I made my zaigou into a weapon, I made my reiatsu being able to turn into jet black blades depending on how much reiatsu I used would make the blade larger or smaller.
But can we fire it from places other than the hand, as well? Because say, if someone is tied up, or their hands are full/unable to block something, it would be a bind if a reido could help but couldn't be used.

Well, this discussion is ONLY about the Reido, which is one weapon in the arsenal. If you want to try to work the effects of the Zaigou state into a combination weapon with your shikai and bankai I can see that working.
My personal one? It would be hard to work into one complete state. I figure that if I'm in my Zaigou state and really let loose with my Bankai as well, there is a tsunami-like wave of kinetics and reiatsu and reido that basically starts wiping everything out as it goes from me. That much fuel I already said that it goes up to six kilometers from me before losing effectiveness, and spreads out about three or four football fields wide.
