Finally, Kaishara was grown. The filly had been a joy, a little sister and daughter all in one, yet it'd been too long since Halia had been able to cherish some true 'alone time' with her Aureate. Raising her head, she nudged at the sleeping form of her mate, barely discernible as a darker shadow in the predawn light. "Love...?"

Usually already awake by this time, the Phantom of the Golden Rose had enjoyed being with her too much to tear himself away for his predawn flight. At the sudden interruption to his dreams he muttered with ill grace, snorting at the gentle nudges. By now he was soaring and diving, wings flared wide in the painted sky; dancing atop the glittering sun as it rose... Extracting his maked face from his golden-tipped wing, he yawned hugely before fixing a bright blue eye on her. His expression was mockingly severe, a frown firmly on his muzzle. It was hard to keep the affection out of his gaze, or the laughter out of his voice. "Madam... I shall have you know, that normally I am up at this hour and already awing the mares of this land... As I have choosen to spend this time with you, you make a dangerous choice in waking me..." He leaned over and gently tugged at the feathers hanging from her ear, snorting and laughing. "Good Morning, Halia..."

Halia giggled and ducked her head away from him, shaking her head at the tickling sensation he'd created before affixing him with a mock-glare. "As if you would dare to do anything other than awe them!" Tossing her head so that long strands flew about to thwap into Aureate, she grinned. "Therefore, I've nothing to worry about when it comes to waking you, right?" To take any sting out of her words, she nuzzled at his cheek. "I just thought we might take advantage of Kaishara being grown..."

He smirked and shrugged his wings, fluffing them up like birds often did. With a stretch of his neck and a yawn, he grinned at her again. "I am quite the impressive daredevil, if I do say so myself... I had many a loyal fan..." He sighed as though he missed it. "I might just run off to soar for them, as revenge..." He huffed, then turned a curious eye on her. "Might we now? And this means rising before the sun?"

"Why not? You yourself just said you're often awake by now." There was a mischeivous gleam in Halia's pale eyes, almost daring Aureate to run with her. "And to keep you from soaring from these other mares, I should keep you on your toes, shouldn't I? So...let's run, therefore keeping you on these toes of yours." Rising to her feet, she pranced in a circle around Aure, nipping at his mane lightly.

Lazily stretching, the stallion slowly found his feet, flaring his wings and eyeing her through the strands of his mane. He was awake and more than ready for a race, but watching her prance around was entertaining in itself... "A race..." He mused, frowning.. "Well... I don't know now My Lady... It's awfully early for a race..." He danced forward and nipped at her haunches, rearing and spinning away. "Pick the direction, My Lady... Let's see who wins..."

With a spirited laugh, Halia darted past the dark stallion, tail flagged high and mane whipping back in the wind of her passing. "Let's hope you haven't lost your legs from flying!" she quipped, a wide grin taking most of the sting out of her words. Weaving through the trees, she bolted for the open plains with strong, powerful strides.

"Ha!" He snorted, racing after her. "Fat chance of that! Do you remember my willful godbrother? I'll have you know I run him into the ground at least once a week!" He snorted again as he broke free of the treeline, folding his wings tight to his back as he chased the sunset-coated mare. Halia was easy to see, even in the glittering early light, all gold and purple shadows racing across the land. He gained enough to n** at her haunches, playfully hovering at her hindquarters. Slowly moving faster, he inched up on her, nipping at her side and shoulder. "Is that all you've got, My Dear?"

With a snort, Halia veered abruptly to the side, kicking her heels in a playful buck. "He must have shoes of lead then, m'love," she nickered jokingly as she demanded yet more speed from herself, muscles bunching under the gold and violet coat. The earth seemed almost a blur beneath her, the grasses but a passing whisper against her legs. "I won't be such an easy chase!"

"A woeful fate for a dancer, I'm told..." He joked back at her, doubling his strides as he fought to regain his place at her side. "I shall tell him of your concern, it is sure to lift his heavy spirits..." He laughed for the sheer joy of the race and her company, wings fanning just enough to let the wind whistle under his feathers, balancing him as he made playful sharp turns and high leaps into the air.

Laughing happily, Halia skidded to a halt, wheeling to face Aureate before rearing high into the air. Flailing her forelegs in mock-challenge, she tossed her head as she called, "Come, dark phantom! Show the wind that your feet have wings too!" With that, she was off again, almost appearing to charge straight at Aureate before veering to the side--with a playful n** at one of his wings as she passed by. Oh, how glorious it felt to run wild and free and--
--And falling, apparently. A mole's tunnel that she'd failed to spot gave way under a hoof, and all the scrambling in the world wasn't about to stop Halia from plowing into the dirt, shoulder-first. Dazed, she simply lay there, attempting to gain her bearings.
