(AIM Log. <3 )
The blue leopard sat on a stump, eyes blinking over the field he had wandered into. It was close to sunset, and he was still as hungry as ever. It didn't really help that every time he went to hunt something, he would freak out about getting blood on his fur... And in the end the prey would end up running away. It left him a bit thin and small for a male, but... At least his fur was shiny. Being pretty was enough to distract him from being hungry, for the moment.
Letting out a soft yawn, he stretched and licked at his paw, continuing with his near constant grooming routine. A pur rumbled from his throat, eyes flickering to the bird that was somehow perfectly painted into his fur. "Who's a pretty bird. Yes you are!" He cooed, speaking as if the bird on his side was a real baby...
And with the slight chill in the air and the descending sun in the sky bringing forth the first batch of stars to litter the skies, one could say the mood and scene was rather romantic. Throw in some music, and dinner and a show and things would be perfect really, or as how the brown leopardess would find it best. But, she was often without a date on nights like this, and more often than not she didn't mind it. She was alive and making her mark and spreading her wings, so to speak, and that was alright with her.
But, company was never a bother either. Lau Ki sauntered through the grasses as they swayed from the breeze and broke apart as she made her way through and made her path. Graceful and soft steps all the way, the smallest of sounds and mostly covered up by the crickets that played their melodies. "Well, there we go ~" she chuckled as if the music was playing for her. Aa, Beau really was making his mark on her with all these musical thoughts. The leopardess sighed shaking her thoughts and continued on, ears perking finally to the sound of the compliments the blue leopard was giving himself. At least, he seemed like he was, her keen green eyes noticed when she glanced in his direction. Who on earth was he talking to, she wondered as she slowly made her way over. This could be interesting.
"Pretty bird, pretty bird..." He muttered in a sing-song voice, smiling broadly. The leopard moved a paw to run threw the fur on his side, as if petting the bird that, in his mind, existed. Or maybe he just liked filling his time by talking to himself... Who knows. Either way, he was content to pet himself and pur in response.
Meanwhile, Zurin was completely oblivious to the approaching female. Had he known, he might have stopped talking to himself... He knew after all that it made him look a bit insane. Unfortunately, he continued his conversation... "Are you hungry, darling bird? Yeah, I am too... But you're so pretty, I could eat you up, oh yes I could!"
Interesting choice of company, she thought to herself and visibly rolled her eyes. Regardless, the female continued forward and couldn't help but chuckle as he petted himself - realizing he was indeed talking to himself.. or his fur, his markings? They were striking indeed, but perhaps nothing to warrant complimenting them, unless there was something wrong with him. Well, that could be true too, but things could be interesting and she was curious to how this would all go.
"Perhaps I should leave you two alone? Or is there room for one more?" she asked in a honey sweet voice as she neared him, still careful with her steps even though she was trying not to laugh again. She composed herself still, making her rounds around his little perch of a stump, long tail swaying in a coy little manner.
The male was obviously suprised when she spoke. A sharp, short yelp came from him, and he turned towards her so quickly that he was thrown off balance and onto the dirt beside the stump. Blinked twice, then scrambled to his feet, desperate to get off the ground. Zurin looked flustered when he noticed the light coat of dust that clung to his pelt. Obsessively he started the process of combing and licking to bring it back to perfection.
Every few moments he glanced back at her, ears flat against his head in an embrassed way. "Oh, um..." Lick, lick. "Well, room?" Lick, comb, lick. "I guess... well, you can have the stump...." Comb, comb, lick. "If you want it."
"Oh goodness, I wasn't expecting the reaction, I do apologize." Lau giggled as she made another circle around the stump and to his side. "Sometimes I'm a little too silent for my own good," she sighed, flicking her head as if to cast the comment off as nothing. Modest? Course not no.
And definitely not the response she had expected, unless he simply didn't understand what she meant. Well, that had happened from time to time, but it really was too early to tell the mentality of this other leopard. He talked to him, fell off logs and kept trying to clean himself while still trying to hold a conversation ... and totally missed advances, no nothing wrong totally yet. "Oh, honey.. the stump isn't the object in the discussion really," maybe she'd spell a little out for him, "but more of the company. Unless you'd rather continue to talk to yourself instead of a leopardess like me ~" A little pout in her voice as she batted her eyes in his direction.
"Oh, no...." He continued the mix of cleaning and speaking. "It's alright. I should have paid more attention."
He stopped grooming himself to look at her longer than just for a few seconds. It was rather obvious that he hadn't quite gotten the point of her innuendos. He looked over her innocently enough, head cocking to the side. "Oh... well... Sure, I guess." His voice was soft, and while not deep or masculine, it wasn't quite feminine either. Somehow an odd mix. "You seem nice enough. Uh... Sorry about the falling thing." He smiled wider, trying to overcome his embarassment. "My name is Zurin."
"Aa, Zurin." She repeated, and bowed her head in greeting, "I am Lau Ki, its a pleasure ~" Her honey voice replied, "and it's alright, quite a first impression I suppose... besides the whole talking to yourself thing I suppose. But an interesting little quirk really." Make the best of interesting qualities perhaps, and a little small talk. Lau situated herself close to the darker male and wrapped her long tail around her feet.
"So, what brings an elegant leopard like yourself to these parts? Doesn't seem like a place one would find someone as intricate like you~" and then down to business, get to know and see where it lead.
"Oh!" He watched her, not moving from his spot. He had made sure to sit down on a patch of grass, of course. That way he couldn't get too much dirt on his fur. Though at first he looked distressed when she mentioned his 'quirk'. Most people teased him for it... But, she didn't seem to mind? So the anxiety faded and he beamed wider than ever, a soft pur echoing from his throat when he was complicated.
"Really, you're just too kind, Lau Ki." His back straitened, sitting up a bit taller. He had an ego as well, though he tried to be kind about it. "You look quite marvelous as well, and it really is a pleasure to meet you." Zurin continued to pur, watching her. "I'm... not really sure. This seemed like a very pretty place, and I do love pretty places."
Aa, there we go. She smiled brightly to match his own expression, finding it a success to see him cheer up from his embarrassing little fumble. Lau watched him for a moment, as he straightened himself up like a proper gentleman should, moving her green eyes quickly from looking him up and down - judging all around, but she needed to be discreet about it - to their surroundings. Indeed, the moon was coming into view and slowly glowing more as the sun continued to set, more stars were coming out from their hiding spot and picking their spots upon the blanket of the sky.
"Indeed," she simple said at first, letting the silence of the night engulf them. The crickets continued to chirp, her tail in rhythm with them as she glanced back. "Twilight is always a beautiful time, peaceful really... romantic with the serenade of the crickets and the buzzing of bugs." Her eyes slide closed a little, taking it in and playing it up as she took in a deep breath.
Zuring nodded slightly, glancing around for a moment before his eyes focused on the moon above them. The light really made his fur shine and glimmer, a fact that he was proud of. He shifted a little and glanced down at his leg, noticing how the light reflected when he shifted slightly.
When she spoke again he looked back to her, blinking slowly. Then he smiled again, still rather innocently. "Oh, yeah, it really is. Totally romanitc. Though really, I think it's best at sunset, but I'm afraid that's already passed."
Hm. Lau's smile slipped a little as she fell into her thoughts, eyeing him slightly from half lidded eyes. Was he shy, oblivious of her advances and topics of conversation and her hints? Perhaps.. inexperienced at this sort of thing? Perhaps she was going about it a little wrong, maybe not press on and be so forward and play around a little more to gage him better. Lau sighed again and lulled her head to the side a little.
"Well, that doesn't mean the mood has passed really, as it can continue further into the grips of night." Well, maybe press it a little further. "but the night can bring other ventures, moods and experiences ~ whatever one is into. Maybe find the night inviting for play and the hunt besides rest and relaxation." Among other things really.
The mention of hunting made his stomach growl a bit... But he tried his best to bite back the urges. It just wouldn't do to get dirty now, with company. So eating was out of the question. His head bobbed up and down slowly, looking back at her. "Yeah? Do you like to play? I like playing, so long as I don't get too dirty and stuff. Do you want to play a bit?"
Lau had to bite her tongue on that one, how lewd her mind could get especially when it was already in the gutter as it was. She had been in such a mindset already, goodness. The leopardess simply coughed and looked away to get her mind in a less dirty place but it was brought back with such simple innocent words. Oh she was terrible.
"Only if the mood is right and conditions," she grinned slyly, careful not to wiggle her eye ridge, that would just send the wrong impression when she was trying so hard. "But, from the looks of it.. wouldn't you just be getting dirty here anyways? We wouldn't want to ruin your pretty coat now, would we?" she giggled. "But, if you would like to.. it would be fine by me ~"
Now the small male just looked a bit confused. He blinked at the female slowly, knowing that there was something she was implying... But what exactly was beyond him. Did there really have to be a specific mood to play a game? Maybe she was talking about a special game or something...
"Well... usually I can get around and stuff without getting too dirty. I mean, yeah... a little here and there is inevitable, but I would prefer not to roll around in the mudd or something... But uh... sure, I'd like to play..."
Again, down went her gaze but this time with purpose as her green eyes checked the ground around them quickly. She was sure she hadn't seen any on her way over as well, "Well, you seem to be in luck," Her eyes returned to look upon him again in a sweet manner, "no mud~ it hasn't rained in a while I don't think either." Lau giggled again. "no chances of getting too dirty, but I should warn you... I tend to play rough ~"
"Oh..." He frowned slightly, ears tilting back. Rough? She must be talking about play fighting, then... And he was no good at fighting. He wasn't violent at all, and was terrorfied about getting scars. Still... he'd seem very weak if he denied her, when he had agreed to playing.
"I.. well, okay... Just... try not to be too rough, yeah?" He stood and stared at her expectantly, ears still down and tail tucked low, not really looking forward to the spare. If only he had a clue.
"Sure thing, sweetie." Lau winked as she uncurled her own tail and began to pick herself up from where she was sitting. The leopardess purred as she rotated her shoulders around, trying to get the stiffness and kinks out. "So, what shall we play?" She asked, stretches her paws out and uncoiling her back.
He blinked again, then let out a breath, relieved. Oh good, she didn't want to fight... Though now he was even more confused, but the relief overcame it enough that it didn't show on his face. He smiled at her and shruged, claws stretching against the dry earth. "I don't really play many games... Is there anything you like, inparticular?"
Lau remained as she was, outstretches in front of him. She unconsciously lowered herself a little, more for comfort really as he seemed uncertain of games. Well, she did know a few but she was again holding back her tongue. "Well ~" she seemed to sing, letting her green eyes travel skywards. Her tail gave a swish in the air, almost whipping in the air as she thought, "I honestly don't know many games besides tag. A midnight version could be very interesting ~"

Tag? Now that could be interesting... So long as he didn't run somewhere very muddy, he shouldn't get too dirty. So he smiled and nodded. "Tag sounds kind of fun. Are you very fast? Dunno how fast I am... but I'll sure try!" He stood then and stretched, chin almost brushing the ground as he leaned forward. Once he was loosened up a bit he hopped on his toes. "I think.... you're it!" He touched the tip of her paw then turned and started running as fast as he could. Which... really wasn't that fast.
To be honest, Lau was a little surprised at how quickly he had taken to the thought of tag without any other suggestions for alternative games. She blinked for a long moment, eyes diverted to where he had tapped and then back to the direction he had hobbled off to - which really wasn't that far off. "It, huh ~" A crooked smile spread upon her maw, eyes lowering into a feisty glare as she watched his retreating form some more. A head start would be a nice gesture really, for someone not up to par and her speed. The leopardess stretched again, extending her nails into the dirt and bits of grass before she righted up again and lulled her head around with a good crack. Okay.. that was enough time perhaps. And she took off, full speed after him. "I'm not sure how good at this you're going to be ~" She called to him in a mocking tone.
Zurin kept running, though when she called out he spared a glance over his shoulder. He blinked, startled with how fast she was. But he wouldn't give up now... He had to at least try, so he didn't look like too much of a whimp, right? So he turned back and pushed himself forward a bit faster, muscles straining. Across the savannah he sped, zooming around trees here and there, determined to at least wear her out.
This was turning out to be fun, it was rather cute how hard he was trying but he was contending against a veteran of .... tag. Lau snorted, rather unattractively but no one was paying attention were they. Her legs bounded hard against the ground, putting a little extra spring in her step as she followed and slowly began to catch up. Determination in her eyes she sped up as much as she could as well, putting a little more in her own muscles - he actually was making her work for this even if it seemed like she wasn't trying... it had been a long time she since had been given a good chase after all. "Muhaha," she cackled coming up on his rear. Careful to keep her footing, Lau reached over and swiped a paw against his hip. She laughed again as she took a shape turn to her right and kept going. "Tag ~"
"Gah!" He almost fell over when he was tapped, mostly out of being startled than really hit hard. He paused for a moment to look back at her, eyes widening when he saw her fading away into the darkness. Panted, then darted after her, ears pressed back. "Hey!" He frowned and gasped for breath as he ran. The poor pampered leopard really wasn't used to such a work out... Though he couldn't help but enjoy it. Sure, he'd need a bath later, but this game was turning out to be quite fun.
