Oh no you didn't! || AIM Log - Kouga & Bari

Just a few days after his encounter with the red savage a certain brown coated male lion was getting ready to take down a meal. What minor scratches he'd sustained in the fight were already well on the way to healing and didn't hinder him in the least. It certainly didn't tell him anything about the female from that strange spit of land except that females really didn't know how to fight worth a damn. If the day ever came when he met a female outside of his own clan that could hold their own, Kouga would........ well, honestly he'd probably find some excuse or reason to play it off as a fluke, but if it happened TWICE, then-- ... okay, same deal. Surely if it happened consecutively over and over for the course of a month, then he'd be surprised and admit he might have been wrong.

About that one female.

That wasn't important though. His mind was far, far away from former Prideland royalty and black henna markings. He was thinking on what piece of his kill he'd be saving for last once he took it down. Zebra, an excellent start to his day, to be sure. It'd take his mind off the fact that he never had found his last remaining pride mates, or the fact that that damned hybrid was still out there somewhere getting away with what pissing him off, even if he was no longer guilty of the haenous crime Kouga had blamed him for. The male surpressed the urge to growl at the mere thought of the half breed, glaring at the prey and looking for his chance to strike.

The mocha colored female had slunk out of the Kusini borders, searching for something new. She was tired of all these happy prides that welcomed everyone with open arms. In fact, she was tired of all these happy lions who loved every living thing that breathed, and welcomed them into the lands with no second glance. Did no one in the world care anymore? Grah, that angered the banned Pridelander greatly. No matter where she had gone, it seemed to be the same. Maybe one day she’d find a pride that wasn’t so caring to others, or at least, another like that.

The lioness trotted swiftly through the land, her body marred with light pink scars from her previous encounter with an old enemy from her homelands. The marks didn’t bother her, however. Battle scars, and battle scars from the one she hated the most. At least she wasn’t the only one to come out of the battle scathed.

Her teal eyes had narrowed before her, the scent of fresh blood reaching her nostril. Although she wasn’t hungry, she never missed a chance to steal a meal from someone else. A smirk rose to her maw as her speed increased to a lope, searching for the kill.

It was all over and done with in a fit of dust and pleading bleats for help, which would not come. The Zebra, full grown-- he didn't need to waste his time going after calfs and yearlings! --lay beneath his paws as he finally dropped it's lifeless head to the ground with a simple release of his jaws. Licking the tell-tale blood from his muzzle Kouga watched the last of the herd trickle away in the distance, leaving their fallen comrade behind.

Bunch of cowards, prey beasts were, not that they could be blamed. Self preservation was permanently ingrained in their nature, they could never be anything but stupid herd beasts, if you asked Kouga. He'd tell you right up front too.

Pushing the carcass against the ground to hold it in place he began eating his breakfast straight away then, tearing into his favorite parts first, unaware as of yet to the female scavaging for an easy meal.

With the sound of the hoofbeats in the distances, Bari quickly turned her head in the direction, pivoting herself until she saw the carcass, and it’s hunter. She smirked, this would be fun. Her speed slowed to a trot, and eventually a walk as she stalked up to the male, her upper lip slightly raised. If this was a ‘goody’ lion, normally they would flee at the larger pridelander that was staring straight at them. How would this rogue take it?

Stupid male, did he not see she was right there? She inhaled the scent, the coppery smell almost intoxicating as she growled lightly to get his attention.

The male in question was savoring the warmth of his meal, letting it fill his belly as each piece slid down his through past his ivory stained fangs. If he had noticed her he sure didn't show it. The truth was, Kouga, in fact, was ignoring her.

Being no runt himself, born in mountains quite a long ways from here, the male hardly looked the part of a rogue aside from being out in rogue turf. He wasn't one to boast titles like "Prince", but it didn't stop him from introducing himself as the leader of the Northern clan still.

Even if someone had reduced it's numbers to three.

The ‘princess’ growled again, this time more loudly than before. What the hell? Was nothing coming out of her throat. Oh-ho, she knew what he was doing. Ignoring the female, not a really great thing to do, at least, the mocha colored female thought. Fine then, she can ignore him too. Posistioning her body so it was across from the lion, the female lowered her head to take a bit out of the carcass. If it was her, she would /never/ allow a stranger to eat with her. Baridi didn’t even share a meal with her own family!

But she was trying to get the male’s attention. No one ignored Bari and got away with it.

No one.

That was certainly the right track to take to get the male to acknowledge her. His paw slammed down on the carcass just barely missing her nose, claws digging into the kill. He was glaring quietly from the corner of his eyes, his tone oozing threat and a question of her sanity as he posed a question without really pulling fully away from where he was eating, muzzle still temporarily stained red. "Wench, just what the hell do you think you're doing? Did I -invite- you to take a bite out of my kill?"

Ah-hah. There was a response, so the male wasn’t deaf, nor blind for that matter.

But her smirk fell to a frown. What did he just call her? Wench? Another growl emitted from the female, the hair on her neck beginning to rise. “Excuse me? It looked to me that I was eating.” She stated with a snark. “But apparently, a stupid male such as yourself wouldn’t see that now, would you?” That ever-knowing smirk returned as she lowered her head again to take a bite. “Besides, it’s only right to offer your kill to a princess.” She hovered above the male’s kill, not moving an inch.

Kouga's expression never changed, glare filled with angry contempt as it was, though finally he drew back from his nice section of shoulder to get directly in the female's face, baring his fangs at her in warning.

"Well when I -see- one I'll be sure to -do- that, now get the hell away from my kill, wench, I won't warn ya again." He rumbled the last part, but then took on a sneering tone as he continued his tirade for another brief moment. He'd had just about enough of these uppity women already! "You're a female. Or aren't you capable of doing anything but being some idiot's rutting post? I swear... you females all think you're supposed to be pampered. If you are what you say you are then you ain't got no pride, scavaging off of others meals. Princess my a**." He scoffed, staying in her way.

Bari snorted. Was he blind? Did he not know about the Pridelands where her mother was the daughter of late King, as well as her father, who was the former prince of the Kusini’Mwezi lands! She had royal lines running through her blood every way she looked at it. This rogue should be bowing down to her and groveling at her paws.

”Idiot’s rutting post?” She growled slightly. “Yes, I am female, and us female’s are more capable of doing better things then you males.” She sneered, backing away from the kill. “I am a part of a pride,” she stated, but apparently her looks were decieving. “And scavenging just saves me from breaking nails.” At this, the ex-pridelander, ex-Kusini member was being sarcastic. She could care less about her looks, let alone her nails.

”Believe what you want Rogue. Pridelander’s Royal Blood as well as Kusini’Mwezi’s Royal Blood runs through my lines, and you best learn how to speak respectively to one of a higher status than yourself.”

Kouga smirked, but it was lacking. Dry as her tone with her nails comment. "The -Pridelands-? The Kuseh-what? Never heard of that second pride. Must be pretty backwater, and obviously the Pridelands have gone to pot to turn out a brat like you. Royal blood? Higher than me? Little girl, I'm the leader of the Northern Mountain clan. I don't have to throw around fancy titles like 'prince' to get what I want. Know why? Cause I can actually get it on my own. And while we're talkin' about rogues, why don't you take another good look at yourself before you go throwin' that title around? You're in rogue land. Y'think anyone gives a crap about what some kill-stealing wench says about how mommy was rutted by a king? You ain't no princess of mine and I sure as hell don't owe you a -damn- thing. So, don't waste your breath. Your supposed pride's customs got s**t to do with me."

He chuckled darkly, but settled back down to take another bite from his kill, eyeing the female. What was her game? Was she really this arrogant? (Like he could talk!) Who did she think she was?

”News travels fast in the lands, especially with rogues coming and going from all different directions. I would at least hear a /mention/ of any type of clans roaming about, and frankly, yours isn’t one that has crossed my ears.” So did that make it false, no, but pretty unbelievable, sure.

She was appalled. “I do not act like a cub,” but the fur on the back her neck didn’t lower though, instead, if it could, it would of risen a few more centimeters, almost sticking up on end. She was not a happy camper, and the male was just pushing the little ‘do not push’ button repeatedly over and over. “I. told. You. Not. To. Call. Me. Little. Girl.” Bari’s nostrils flared as her claws unsheathed. To attack another was not out of the question, and the female was just milliseconds away from crashing teeth first into the body of the male.

"I'm sure." Kouga verbally rolled it off his shoulders without another single thought. "If you don't like it maybe you should better consider who you pick your fights with." He snorted, settling down on his haunches calmly, taking another bite from his kill but already finding the warmth was seeping from it. Feh. Maybe he should just track down something fresh. He didn't feel like eating cold carcass. Then again, was he even that hungry still? He'd had a fair enough amount from it, and given that most lions shared one carcass in groups of four or five, really, he'd had enough. If she wanted it so damned bad then she could have it.

A dark tongue rolled from his lips to groom the blood from his fur, taking a swipe or two before speaking up again.

"Know what? You can have the leftovers for your 'troubles', 'princess'. Enjoy." With that said he went back to grooming his muzzle and started to walk away, but did call back-- "It's Kouga, by the way. Remember it when you finally come out of the land of ignorant bliss."

She didn’t want the carcass, she wasn’t hungry. And besides, meat was horrible when it was cooled, if Bari was hungry, she would hunt something herself. She wasn’t /that/ incapable of being on her own.

The female huffed, watching the male leave her with the dead body. Her teal eyes looked into the lifeless orbs below her, as she lifted a lip toward it. ‘What do you want?’ she sneered in her mind, releasing the pent up energy within a smack to the carcasses face. A rather loud ‘snap’ was heard, making the lioness glare. “Stupid beasts.”

When Kouga called back, she returned with an angry roar of no words.

Under her breath, she muttered, “Best remember Baridi’akali, because she will be kicking your a** if she ever meets you again.”
