 Frowning she glanced about, flicking her curly mane from her eyes with a sharp toss of her head, unwilling to take her gaze from her surroundings for long. The night-time forest surounded her, crowding in close to her as if she was unwelcome there.
How had she ended up in this dark and overgrown place? She was no longer a foal, easily scared by sounds in the night. In fact she had grown to enjoy the darkness, and the subtle sounds and sights that came with the moon's dominion over the skies. But somehow, this place gave her the shivers.
Flicking her tail against her flank she paused on the invisible trail she had been following. Muscles lean and graceful, shifted under her sunset coloured coat as she gazed about, golden eyes a copy of the moon above in the night sky. She squinted slightly as she tried to see past the thick almost solid wall of shadows that seemed to be keeping pace with her.
This place was not normal.. that much she knew. It was as if there were secrets here that didn’t want her to venture closer....

 Benoni moved through the thicket with ease one wouldnt expect from someone his size, but the large stallion did it without a second thought.
This forest wasnt one usually to happy to have guests in it, those who lurked in the shadows were usually blood thirsty, Benoni was not one of them. But he liked to move around just in case someone innocent was caught in a snare by one of those less than characters.
Skinwalkers and kalona's were becoming more and more bold with each passing moon, and the land seemed to be in a struggle over the darkness taking it so easily it seemed.
The faint scent of another caught the unicorn's attention, lavender eyes turned and gazed around, looking between the small spaces between trees, glowing markings adorned his frame and face as his tail swayed out behind him.
Walking in the path of danger was something he found himself doing more and more often these days, it gave him something to do..to look forward to it seemed.

A sound that was not of the forest echoed faintly to her side, making the mare shift uneasily. Slender ears flicked back, pressing against the curls of her mane as she drew her top lip back from her teeth, a warning to anything that was out there that she was no push over.
Eyes narrowed, tail swaying uneasily as she continued along the path. Ears flicked forwards and back, continually monitoring her surroundings. Soon enough she got the feeling that she was being followed, or more accurately, something was tracking her movements off to one side, keeping pace with her from the shadows. Frowning she forced herself to walk slowly, knowing that if she let herself speed up, panic would take over and she would gallop crazily into some trap..
"Snap out of it Kumei..." She growled softly at herself, feeling her coat lift and prickle uncomfortably, panic creeping up her spine in spite of her determination to remain cool. "Its just shadows... and if there is some crazy nut out there, you are more than capable of outrunning it.."
Her soft pep-talk did nothing to calm her nerves, but it did help her control the urge to brake out into a blind panicked run.
