Puffing slightly the young mare tossed her head, her mane lifting from her sweaty neck as the cool wind caught it, sending it cascading behind her in a tumble of ocean coloured curls.
It had been a long and tiring climb up the side of the mountain to the small plateau she had spotted several days earlier, but as she lifted her head and gazed out at the view, she knew it was worth it.
"So beautiful..." She breathed softly, walking to stand carefully on the edge, feeling the wind move over her hot coat like cool fingers. Her unusual eyes, like the golden moon caught in the night sky, roamed the view offered by this elevated position above the world. To her back higher mountains climbed upwards, while to each side the land slowed downwards, sometimes forming sheer cliffs, others rolling hills where the mountains smoothed out into the surrounding landscape. Right in front of her, the world lay as if waiting for her to explore it. The forest stretched off into the distance to one side, while the plains provided a contrast of gold to green to the other side.
Tilting her head up she smiled at the clouds drifting across the soft deepening blue of the sky above. A colour that would slowly darken to the same hue as her body, and then the setting sun would gift her with that brief glimpse of her own heaven.. that short flash of colour when the sun gave up his ownership of the sky to the moon.. the very same colour that adorned her slim, graceful legs.

Morrow was a traveller at heart. His life had been spent on the road, travelling from one land to another on wing and on foot wherever the winds took him. The world was wide and full of possibilities, especially when one was high enough to view so much of it at once.
But even he couldn't stay in the air forever, and as the day was just turning to evening he decided it was time to resume his journey on foot. He tucked his wings slightly and began the slow spiral down towards the rocky ground. Unfortunately for a creature of his size, a slow spiral simply referred to something short of tucking his wings entirely and dropping from the sky.
As he rocketed downwards he was surprised to note a rather colourful soquili amidst the rocks. It could have been a stallion, mare, or even a foal, all Morrow could tell at that height was that it was smaller than himself. It was rare he ran into an exception, the alicorn was a beast of a stallion with his imposing height and a rock-solid build. Many said it was a wonder he could get into the air weighing as much as he did, but his wings were as strong as the rest of him. He altered the course of his descent, and with a giant swoop and a loud clap of hooves on stone he landed on the plateau next to the other. The mare, as he saw now.
"Hello there," Morrow said with a casual smile, while he turned to admire the view as she had. "Quite the lookout you've got here."

It was a good thing she had been daydreaming with her eyes to the sky, or else the sudden appearance of the massive stallion might have startled her. Not a smart move when one stood on the edge of a very high cliff.
As it was she saw the dot of shadow high above, eyes widening as it suddenly started to plummet out of the sky like a piece of the mountain itself. Her golden eyes followed the shape as it zoomed towards her, ears pricked and legs tense, ready to leap out of the way, though such wasn't needed as the thing, or rather, the stallion as she could now make out, suddenly turned, landing with an earth shuddering thud to her right.
The stallion certainly had her attention after an entrance like that. His casual hello and comment made her grin, amusement swiftly overcoming her surprise at the sudden company she seems to have gained.
"Well.. hello to you too." She replied with a warm smile, amber eyes sparkling. "Thanks.. it is rather impressive.. as was your landing." She added, grinning at the stallion. She wasn't frightened by his large size, even though she felt tiny and dainty next to him, something that she certainly didn't feel normally.
She allowed herself to look him over. After all, when a guy was as stunning and handsome as he was, it would be rude not to look.. And anyway, she was as curious as hell about this stranger who had literally dropped out of the sky.
"You a local around here?" She asked, voice easy and pleasant. She was certainly a confident mare, friendly and plenty bold without being cocky or obnoxious.

Morrow made an amused noise and glanced back at the little thing he had landed beside. An impressive landing? He was sure it was only a side-effect of his size, accentuated by his natural disinclination for grace and delicacy. With a body as thick and heavy as his, a silent footstep was a challenge best left to a slow pace and grassy terrain, and a gallop was nothing short of rolling thunder. One needs little in the way of grace when they are built like a rock.
"I've never passed through here before in my life," he said with a wider smile as he noticed her attentions. He was used to being stared at, but it was always a pleasure when the stares weren't accompanied by hostility or fear. Not that he couldn't deal with those kinds of stares as well, he just preferred it when those around him were as easygoing as he was. Why get stressed out over inconsequential things?
He glanced at the lands spread out in front of him once more before turning and walking away, his head tilted in an invitation for the little mare to follow if she wanted. The day was almost over, and Morrow knew better than to stand around while the sun moved to strand him in the mountains. Rocky paths could be dangerous even in the dim light of sunset and he knew better than to walk them under such conditions. "Do you live in the area?" He asked, wondering if it would be wise to let her lead the way or if he should continue with his lead.

She grinned at his encouraging look and turned away from the view to trot after the massive stallion, falling into a graceful walk when she caught up. She realised he had that unicorn tail thing going on.. she watched it sway not a foot in front of her nose as she followed him onto the trail that would take them off the small flat.
Glancing up over his back as he spoke she shook her head. "No, I come from the area where the ocean touches the land." At least, her parents had always claimed that place as their homeland. "Though I was born on a mountain much like this one, I do not know this area well."
Spotting a widening in the path she slipped up to walk beside him, feeling small next to his bulk though it didn't seem to cower her at all. Instead, she looked up at his handsome head from under her curly mane. Amber eyes curious and bright.
"If you aren't a local, then where do you come from? Are you a traveller like in the stories? Or a hero seeking his fate? You certainly look like hero material.. " She glanced back over the massive body again, certainly enjoying the view as much as she had been before he arrived... He made good eye-candy, and he seemed real nice too. "You look strong enough to wrestle a mountain.." She grinned up at him playfully, curly tail flicking against her flank and accidentally brushing the stallion's own as the dainty mare paced alongside without appearing to struggle as she kept up with his long strides.

"The ocean touches the land in many places, none without their own wonders," Morrow said in a light-hearted tone, his deep voice managing to convey a sense of worldly wisdom he would have naturally denied possessing. This little one's words were almost refreshing, she seemed so open to possibilities even if they were just amusing speculation. He was no hero or glorified traveller, just rather tall, and caught with a case of wanderlust.
He shifted towards the far side of the path to make room for her, taking the somewhat more intimidating side as it began to drop off at a steeper angle. Thankfully there was little risk of the path itself failing or falling, the ground was solid under his large hooves.
Morrow clopped onwards, listening to the timing of the mare's quicker footsteps as they mingled with his own."I dare say, a mountain would be a terrifying thing to wrestle with," he mused, sounding not at all afraid of the thought. Perhaps it came with the occupation, but there was very little he was afraid of. He was too large and dangerous himself to worry about attacks by other animals, and many other frightful hazards could simply be avoided with a little forethought.

Hakumei walked along beside the stallion, her stride bouncy with the energy of youth and the excitement over her current company. Giggling she bobbed her head, her unusual wave-like curly mane flashing in the sunlight. "But I bet it would be fun to watch! And you would win too.." She added, awe in her tone as she looked up at him once more. Now she was alongside, she appreciated just how big he was.
"So, are you a wandering hero? I’m not sure I've ever seen a dragon you could slay but I've heard of a dragon-like kalona mare my parents ran into once.. maybe you could go find her? Though... I’m not sure where she is any more. Kalona move around don't they?" She looked up at the velvet skies as she seemed to ponder the idea.
Looking back at him she smiled brightly. "Or if you aren’t after a dragon.. it has to be a damsel in distress right? Its a shame I’m not in distress right now.. " She grinned playfully at him. "I think it would be quite fun to be rescued.."

"Against a mountain? Surely not." Morrow smiled, gentle and calm. "I'm not a hero, there might be those who are brave enough to seek out trouble and be called thus, but I would rather avoid it if I can." Not that he ran from trouble, either, certainly he could be given credit for facing what needed to be faced.
He raised a brow and smiled down at her. "It sounds as though I've flown right out of a fairytale." The stallion's chuckle was warm and rich. "I would not want to slay a mare even if she was dragon-like, Kalona usually let me go my own way unless there's a small herd that believes they can take me down. I suspect they share my own sentiments and will avoid trouble when they can."
One of his hooves landed in some loose debris, sending small pebbles rolling down the steep incline, but his unicorn toes just splayed out for better purchase and he kept moving. "I think it would be quite terrifying to need rescuing." Again it was spoken with a soft smile, as though it was not frightening in the slightest.
