A lean cheetah darted along the horizon, her legs long and quick. The sun was just about to set, and she was anxious to get back to her den. She wasn't too fond about being out at night, quite frankly it was scary to her. The dark colored cheetah had to get back to her den before the sun finished setting. She had to. Or else, who knows what would happen to her. Her gray eyes focused on a rock nearby! Hey, that was familiar! Carrying herself over there, she plopped down in the dirt beside the rock. There, there was a small cave. Just in time, she thought watching the sun fall beyond the horizon.

A jackal wandered around nearby, unaware of the likely predator nearby. But jackals didn't have to fear cheetahs did they? Most big cats were nice anyway. Nice enough. But Miki hadn't met that many cats, so she wasn't too sure. However, she walked along and ended up stumbling into the rock that the cheetah called home. It was getting dark, and her eye-sight wasn't too great...not to mention her mind was on a completely different matter.

"Oh..."
She muttered, not realizing that she was actually that close to someone.

It seemed as if the cheetah had just settled in when she heard the faint sound of someone walking into her rock. A shiver traveled down her spine. What could that be? Not being the type to confront people unless she knew them, she laid patiently, hoping whatever it was would just move on. But Saiha's heart was pounded extra loud, the creature would probably hear it a she would be forced to converse with it...or get eaten.

The young jackal could indeed hear the faint pounding of the other's heart. Cocking her head, she looked curiously at the darkness in front of her. Thump...thump...thump...was not a sound she was used to. Most animals...well. Sounded different. Trying to sound as nice and friendly as possible, the jackal uttered a friendly, "Hello?"

The cheetah let out a small gasp as she heard the greeting. That wasn't really the type of thing that cheetah-eaters would say, was it? Peeking her head out from behind the rock, her dark eyes focused on the small creature before, looking much like a little dog.

"Er. Hi...dog?" She stated, her head too cocking to the side.

Saiha had never met a canine before. How would she react?

The jackal nearly had a heart attack as the large head of a cheetah poked out of the rock. Giving off a yelp she dashed into the grass, where she wasn't in plain sight. She smelled the air around her, just to double check to see if she could smell danger. She was too young to die! However, her nose didn't manage to pick up on any strange scent that might warn her about this creature. Perhaps this cat wasn't so bad after all.

Saiha's eyes widened at the strange creature. What would cause her to act like this? The jackal was the first to greet her anyways. Giving a small shrug, she wanted to forget the jackal was still out there, but for some reason her mind begged her not to.

"Heh...why are you hiding, pup? I'm not that scary."

The cheetah wanted to venture out of her rock to find the little creature, but her fear of the dark wouldn't let her. Thus even if she did want to kill the jackal, she couldn't chase after it.

Miki stood still, her bones quivering. But as the cheetah spoke, she relaxed again. Who was this cheetah kidding? Of course she was scary, any small animal would be. It was just natural to be afraid of large cats, it's how things worked on the savanna.

"You got me...I'm scared." Miki said, trying not to let her voice sound frightened. "You won't eat me will you?"

The large cheetah smiled deviously. Sure she had scared preybeasts before, but it was more fun to scare those of her kind. By kind, those who killed preybeasts.

"Nah, I don't eat dogs." Saiha said cheerfully. "Not my favorite type of food."

Saiha wanted the jackal to come closer to her, so she wouldn't have to keep talking to darkness. Not only because of fear, but also because she just wanted some company. But the jackal probably didn't.

Miki twitched as the cheetah called her a dog again, something that she associated with wild dogs. She was a jackal, a proud one too! With a small sigh, the pondered what to do next. She wasn't favoring getting too close to the large cat.

"Well...that's good I guess." She muttered quietly. "Well...I'm going to go now...I have things to do."

And with that, the female jackal took off into the darkness, hardly leaving a trace of her behind. Well, that certainly made the night more interesting.

The cheetah raised a brow at the darkness before her. So she met someone new and they don't even introduce each other, and then they go away. How lovely.

With a grunt, the cheetah flopped on her side. Well that'll teach me to be nice again.
