AIM RP Log: Uhamisho & Mtima'safi

Lonely. Lonely could, and most certainly did, describe what Uhamisho was feeling at the moment. Honestly, he could've gone and found someone to spend time with while Mtima was away. That was the smarter thing to do, but really, he hadn't been very intelligent when it came to dealing with the goddess. Smiling fondly at the memory, Uha shifted slightly to lie more comfortably. Childish and naïve of him, but he would gladly wait for Mtima here, until she returned. She had promised, after all!

Shaking the giddiness from his mind, he idly wondered if she would ever let him look into her memories. It wasn't something he was fond of, especially without asking- what a horrible invasion of privacy! However, on occasion… he just liked to see the world the way other beings saw it. Who knew a toad's life could be so fascinating! (In perfect honesty, that was one of the better conversations he'd had; such an eloquent speaker that toad had been!) But he was getting distracted once more. What kind of memories would Mtima have? The question sparked a curiosity in him that yet again brought a smile to his face.

"I do hope she returns soon," he mumbled to nobody in particular- or maybe it was to the nearby flowers? Grinning particularly happily at them, he hummed softly. "Oh, yes, yes~ That would be wonderful! I hope life has treated her well, since we parted." Fluttering his wings gently, Uha softly closed his eyes. A friend! How nice it was to have her, and know she would return to see him.

"Who are you waiting for, exactly?"

The voice came from behind the memory god, it was calm with a slight amused tone. Mtima'safi had informed her son of all the goings-on concerning him, and she had promised to go in search of the daughter no one knew quite how to locate.. but before she did that, she had something else to take care of, some personal business. Where she had been so concerned with tracking down Amadet for so long, and then had to deal with confirming stories and figuring out a punishment.. well, she hadn't taken much time to just relax. Now that she had little to worry about, she was free to track down the friend she'd left behind near the borders of the Pridelands. Shemshi was not in danger, she was merely out of contact with the others. She could wait a little longer to be found.

Smiling, she walked around to face him properly.

At the sound of another voice- HER voice- he'd jumped. Honest and completely, he'd bolted up, shocked entirely out of his sense. Craning his neck back to see her, he gave her a warm and friendly smile; how much it warmed his spirits to see her again! Settling his wings comfortably on his back, to where they were still save an occasional flutter, he shrugged lightly. A laugh, too! Light, but there none the less.

"I believe…" he said gently, obviously amused as well, "you know the answer to that, Miss Mtima." There was a sense of relief in Uha, at this point; Mtima was well, and had returned to visit safely. She seemed in good health- just as cheery and radiant as he had remembered. Setting his paws so that he sat more comfortably after his little jump, Uha tilted his head slightly.

"You seem to be well, though!" Uha added brightly, unable to keep the excitement from his voice. "I do hope your errands went well with the lioness. From what I remember," he paused a bit, scrunching his nose slightly at this "Which- isn't a lot, to be honest, can be… trouble?" he frowned slightly, more in confusion than anything else. "In some cases, anyway. I'm certain that I'm not fit to judge character."

He paused a moment like this, suddenly taken by thought. Oh! He'd almost forgotten to ask, instead of just assuming they'd gone well.

"If… you don't mind my asking, did they go well?"

"I hope you haven't been waiting here the whole time," she joked lightly, not realizing any truth might be in the statement. Getting comfortable, she took a seat before him, folding her wings neatly and comfortably on her back and curling her tail around her toes. It was good to see a friend, to not be here simply to check or deliver bad news. She couldn't say she had many friends she saw often now, especially immortals. As he asked about her and her errands, she couldn't help but smile despite the actual results of her efforts. Amadet was taken care of, the cubs (no longer cubs) knew who their real father was and things would, hopefully, settle back down happily.

"I was successful, if you look at it from that respect," she answered, still looking quite cheerful, "I found the lioness and verified the stories she told me- and I've taken care of it." Mtima nodded confidently when she finished her concise explanation of how things had gone, welcoming questions as to details despite the shortness of what she said.

"How have you kept busy?"

He smiled and nodded gently when she told of her expedition going well, very much relieved and glad to hear it. Uha had worried greatly when he was gone; likely, it was unnecessary, but the thoughts had certainly plagued his mind. How nice it was to see her well- in general, really, just to see her!

"If you don't mind my saying so," he added brightly, seemingly still teeming with excitement, "you seem positively radiant- much happier than when we met. I'm glad to know you're no longer so troubled!"And he was; it was wonderful to see her without something distressing on her mind. The few troubles he had were lifted at the sight; she was happy, and well! Mkodi be blessed!

At the question of his spending of spare time, Uha flushed slightly and glanced away. Dragging a paw in a nervous circle, which produced a lovely little clinking sound as he did, he laughed quietly.

"I… ah." Well, shoot. He had kind of been hoping she wouldn't ask, but since she had… what choice was left? Uha knew he wasn't the most… sociable of Gods. Mtima, really, was the only other being he knew and spoke to! Clearing his throat nervously, he tried to smile as brightly as possible and looked back to her.

"…I was too worried… that I'd miss you, to leave. And… I don't really know anyone else, so… I've waited here?" His wings drooped slightly, but he still remained happy. "I've… talked with birds, and the occasional hare, though, so it's alright!"

Mtima couldn't help but beam when he commented on her radience (and happiness). It had been a while since someone seemed to personally concerned with her well-being, and she always enjoyed compliments. This was the main thing she missed about having time to herself, time when she didn't have to worry about mortal responsibilities. She adored her family, but there was no denying that every time she saw them, every time she thought about them.. they were getting older, and the inevitable was not something she enjoyed thinking about or being constantly reminded of. She mumbled her thanks politely, smiling and listening intently as he flushed and attempted to answer her question. She was curious at his hesitation to answer, her eyes falling to his paw and the chain making the clink. Her eyes moved back up immediately as soon as he started with 'I was too worried'- she knew exactly what he was going to say from there.

"You waited?" she asked, surprised, "You wanted to talk to me again that much?"

"W…well…" he stammered in embarrassment, yet again unable to hold Mtima's gaze at this. How was he supposed to? It was a tad embarrassing! Shifting himself uneasily, he was surprisingly unable to find a way to comfortably sit. There was a word for this feeling, he was certain… but what was it? So confusing, all this business.

"…Yes." Uha admitted quietly, managing a quick glance back up to Mtima. His ears were flattened against his head, which turned away from her in nervousness. "It… was lonely, before you came. When I was just wandering," he mumbled quietly, his face taking on the grave expression that made him seem deceased once more. "It was… lonely. I spoke to some others, yes, but…" well, great. How was he going to put this now? Mtima made him… happy. Friends did that, after all! …Yes, that would be good!

"You're just… nice to talk to." He decided simply, finally able to fully look back and smile. "You don't… dislike me, for the weird looks, I suppose."

Pausing a moment, he went silent. That… hadn't been as hard as he'd expected, if he was being honest! Laughing nervously, he shook his head.

"Ah! S..sorry about that, I was rambling again!" He added, sliding into a state of cheer with ease. Even if he was upset, at times, Mtima… made it easy to be happy.

Mtima wasn't sure what exactly to say in response to his embarassed stammering. It was flattering, and it was sweet- and at the same time she felt bad that he had been waiting around here so long. She hadn't exactly rushed along, but then what was time to a god? They could have met up eventually, she would have found a way. Perhaps on the mountain, in the haven. But what she had to decide was if she wanted to tell him this-- but she was distracted as his rambling continued, she was nice to talk to and not put off by his looks.

"Oh my," she murmured, smiling at him as he laughed and apologized for rambling. She could see it, truthfully, why some might mind his appearance. She couldn't confess to loving the dark implications of the chains and the darker colors but there was more to everyone than physical appearances and she saw that most clearly.

"Don't be so hard on yourself," she said, "Appearances can be deceiving.. I've always liked the color blue. You're very sweet to have waited." She finished her sentence lamely, but it was just about all she could think to say. Blue was a lovely color, blue and purple were among her favorite colors. And he was being so nice to her, she felt obligated to disagree with him on calling his appearances weird and worth disliking him for- and to return the compliment.

Really, there had been nothing else for Uha to do; unless he was going to go hunt down his bird friends, Uha had nowhere to go and nobody to speak to. So, he had waited; it was logical, wasn't it? It wasn't as if it'd been horrible waiting, either. He'd had time to… think. And that was always good! At least, he thought so. But… then again, if that was his train of thought… well. He was just confusing himself, really. And all of that could be sorted out later, anyway! For now, he could just enjoy Mtima's company; she was back, and well, after all!

"I… thank you, I suppose." He mumbled quietly, still greatly embarrassed. Uha fell silent a moment at this, unsure of what to say; he'd already gone ahead and told her what he'd been thinking about while she was gone. So… what else did he have to say? Unfortunately, not leaving… left him with nothing exciting to tell her in return. Shifting uneasily, Uha stammered.

"S..so," he started quietly, looking to Mtima's eyes once more. "What're mortals… like? I… can slightly remember them, but… only that. I haven't… met any, and… you seem to know them well," Uha rambled, putting practically everything that came to his mind in the open. "And… if you like them, there's got to be something good about them."

Her tail swayed lazily behind her and she continued to smile at him as he mumbled and fell quiet momentarily. He was quite funny, in his own way, but his embarassment and stammering only supported her comment about him being so sweet. It was endearing in its own way. She blinked back to attention when she was asked about mortals, reminded how the memory god had quite oddly forgotten some things. She opened her mouth to explain, but hesitated- wondering how much to tell. She was not necessarily ashamed of her mortal family, moreso that she let it happen and chickened out at the last minute. There was no point completly ignoring the topic, he knew about her hunt for a mortal lioness but not that it involved her son, her mortal son.

"I do like mortals," she commented with a light shrug, "There's something about them, they're so lively. They can accomplish so much in a a shorter time, and we're bound to them in a way. They're much less independent than us, the pride that lives near here- there are so many of them in one place. It's a wonderful pride, it really is. Everyone is kind and generous, they work together.. it's fascinating."

"I think…" he spoke quietly, but surely, still looking at Mtima, "that I may try to meet them. I have seen them around," Uha gestured lightly, smiling still, "but… just never worked up the nerve to speak to them. I think now, though, I will." And that was a good thing, wasn't it? It had to be! He certainly would wait for Mtima, and find her whenever she wished to meet, but… having others to speak to and know must be a good thing!

"But… lively?" He continued, cocking his head to the side slightly. "That seems… well. I'm not quite sure." Uha laughed quietly, trying to wrap his mind around the idea of mortals being livelier. "Do you think… because they don't live as long, they try to do more?" He asked, more to himself than really to her. "I mean, it makes sense- to me, anyway." Stilling again, he glanced in the direction he believed the pride to be. "And… maybe I'll go visit that pride, someday." Shifting uneasily, he looked back to her hopefully. "I mean… if you would… maybe enjoy visiting with me, that is?"

"Possibly, I'd say there'd be more urgence in the things they do whether or not they realize their own mortality," she offered thoughtfully, thinking specifically of her own family. She had not been young, of course, when she had Wahabu and Kilango- but Kizamaji had been quite young. Mortals spent a good deal of their lives as adults, he hadn't even had a full mane when they started their family (inadvertantly as it had been).. but youth was not so impossible or uncommon a time for them to have families. Immortals could, should they so desire, take much longer getting around to something like that.

"Mortals are greater in number than immortals," she offered as an example, "Though I suppose our numbers are limited by reincarnation cycles and domains." She looked back at Uha briefly as he commented on going to visit the pride, and then glanced back over her shoulder to her old home. She smiled.

"They do not worship one deity or another, so I try not to be too obvious about visiting," Mtima explained, "Though I know several lions there who would be happy to meet you."

"Ah…" he listened quietly, trying to make sense of this for himself. Then… because they were mortals, regardless of if they recognized it or not… they lived more boldly? How absolutely strange and curious! "Why do you think that is?" Uha asked quietly, completely and totally confused by the logic. While he was attempting to understand how that would work… well, quite simply, he couldn't. Scrunching his nose a bit, Uha tapped a paw lightly. "So you think immortals, then…" he reasoned out loud, hoping Mtima would explain this a bit more to him, "…aren't as urgent in what they do? Or… something like that." He trailed off, still thinking outloud.

Snapping himself quiet at her explanation, Uha listened with keen interest, nodding as she spoke on cycles and domains. There really was a lot to being a god, wasn't there? Following her gaze as she looked back to the pride, Uha couldn't help but wonder what all had happened to Mtima, before he'd known her. Maybe, one day, she'd tell him all about it.

"Meeting them would be wonderful, then!" He exclaimed brightly, tail swishing slightly in aforementioned enthusiasm. "I look forward to it, Mtima."

"Unintentionally less urgent, maybe," she said thoughtfully, looking back at Uha from the direction of the pride as they continued their discussion. It would be impossible to say that gods were not sincere, did not take things seriously. It was a different kind of urgent, they needn't worry too much about procreation, they could focus on the maintenance of their domain and be completely solitary if they wished. Mtima sighed, "Gods are more independent than mortals, often, going much longer periods without necessarily wanting or needing to talk to another creature. Mortals rely on parents, and often on a group. I rather like the idea of having a companion around, I'm rather social myself but I try not to get too involved with mortals anymore.."

She paused, she wasn't lying. She was involved because she cared about her family, her mortal lineage.. but she was considerably less involved than she had been.

"It's nice having someone around to talk to, yes," He agreed, nodding once more. He opened his mouth to reply once more, but hesitated at Mtima's anymore. Scrunching his face into a confused look, Uha was completely stuck on the word. She had been really engrossed with mortals, then...? So many things to Mtima that he didn't know! One day, though, he hoped he would. But when would she be willing to tell him...? Putting on a soft smile, he continued on, deciding not to worry on it. "You know," Uha spoke quietly, "...should you ever want company, I am always around." It was offered out kindly, though yet again, hopefully. He honestly enjoyed Mtima's company, and... well. He hoped, in honesty, that she felt the same.

"Because, I... I agree with you. I mean, independence isn't bad... I just think company is better." Uha nodded enthusiastically, smiling brightly once more. Mtima's company. But, that was implied; never said. That much, at least, he could keep under control and act cool about.

Uha had waited for her, she could easily guess that he took appreciated company once in a while like she did. She didn't tell her whole story, still unsure of fully explaining it- but at the same time wondering if he had some access to her memories and already knew but said nothing out of respect. It was something to wonder about, but either way she was pleased to be talking to him again. She smiled at him despite his hestiation at her words, her ears tilting forward at his quiet and hesitant offer. He was rather bold in one way, but rather shy in another.

"I'd like that," she agreed brightly and enthusiastically, feeling she needn't say more than that.

FIN.
