Red was walking along, eating little flowers, and enjoying the nice weather. It was windy and warm, and the sky was bright blue, with the sun half-way across the sky. Red was coming up to a wooded bog, and even though she normally stayed on the plains, not really interested, and even a little afraid of these areas, she decided to have a look around. It just so happened that there was a large patch of swamp roses, which were her favorite. So, she walked over, a little hesitantly, they were really close to the water, and she had never gotten this close before, and began eating as many as her little heart desired. After a little while, her stomach full, she sat happily watching little bugs flying around. She was getting up to go when she herd a noise from the water. Startled, she jumped back from the spot where she was standing. She was looking everywhere for the thing that made the noise slowly backing up, then, a huge green thing jumped from the water right at Red. She froze on the spot, terrified of what she was seeing. The thing Stared at Red, and after a second darted towards her.

It was a lovely day, and Reed had been spending it with his closest friend, Red Dawn. He knew that Red liked the more open areas of the swamp, and well, Reed did too. They'd both been grazing on the many types of small flowers, grasses, and other plants that inhabited the small, sunny area. Reed was very fond of Red, you could maybe even say that she was his 'girlfriend'. If anything were ever to happen to her, well, Reed wouldn't know what to do with himself. Most of the time, he didn't let her out of his sight. Today, however, he did.
Splash.
What was that?...
Quickly, Reed's head jerked in the direction of the noise, his eyes focused in on the scene, and grew wide with fear. A swamp crocodile was heading right for Red. As fast as his legs could carry him, the young buck dashed over to the doe, knocking her out of the path of the beast. Rearing up on his hind legs, Reed emitted a loud and ghostly kimeti call in hopes to frighten the croc.

Red was suddenly pushed away from the thing in the water, and after a second realized it was her mate, Reed. She started when Reed let out a loud, eerie howl. The thing in the water stared from Red to Reed hungrily. Red was terrified that something was going to happen, and felt completely helpless. She was shaking uncontrollably, looking around for help, but, there was no one else around. Red tried imitating Reeds' howl, but, came nowhere near in comparison, because she was so scared of what this thing was going to do. The creature moved a step in the direction of Reed, then a step back, then lunged for his neck, its' mouth almost on him.

With a quick and awkward combination of a leap and a stumble to his right, Reed bumped in to Red and barely escaped the jaws of the crocodile. In an almost violent manner, Reed shoved Red with his horns, attempting to get both himself and Red away from the beast as quickly as possible, all of this as quickly as it could be done by the buck, as the crocodile had yet to fully realize what was going on after its hungry and disappointing lunge.
