The day couldn't have been more perfect for an outing. The sun loomed high overhead, threatening everything below with unbearable heat. Only two forms of relief seemed available, shade or water. Only one seemed to be in mind for a certain hyperactive kimera.
"You're sooooo slow~!" Rinka's voice could probably be heard for miles at its' current volume. "Hurry up, or I'll have to hogtie you and drag you along~" The long length of rope slung over her shoulder proved it to be an earnest threat as she shot through the various underbrush. How she managed not to get tangled with the various plastic pails and shovels dragging behind her via the aforementioned rope was indeed a mystery in of itself.
For one blissful moment everything was silent as the hebisune paused for a second and took a whiff of the air, finally picking up on the the strong scent of salt water. The peace was then shattered once more.
"Come on Ezhy, we're almost theeeeeeeeeere." She darted off before she could finish, crashing through the underbrush and tall grasses with little grace.
Upon reaching her destination she didn't even take a moment to appreciate the view and flung herself into the air, only to come crashing down and falling face first into the sand. It was like a cartoon for a moment, only using her face planted in the sand to support her body which stood nearly straight up. She wiggled around, shedding the ropes and excess materials before grinning and laughing maniacally as she clawed at the ground. It took only a few moments before she'd completely burrowed underneath the sand, waiting....lurking....

Ezhno slowly followed after, only quicking his pace whenever the rope threat seemed close to being followed through. He grumbled to himself and kept his eyes on the ground, only to lift them when he had to see where Rinka was going. The beach? What was so great about the beach? Well, the arnulf had grown bored lately since life had become slow, so he decided on going despite not understanding it. Well, that and he didn't want to be dragged.
He knew the hebisune better by now.
He sat down on the sad and looked out onto the water. His ears folded down and looked around. "Rinka...?" He growled and stood up. "Where did she go? She dragged me here just to ditch me?!" The arnulf started to sniff the ground. "Not like she flew away..."

Had she the patience to follow through with her original plan of ambush, she might've pulled it off. However an over-excited Rinka had a very short attention span. At the sound of the other kimera's voice she wiggled beneath the sand some more, still too far underneath for it to show above ground. Within seconds she emerged right in front of the arnulf, only her head popping up from the sand.
"Silly silly~" She chided in a sing-song matter as she shook the sand lightly from her head. "After all the time I spent trying to get you to come out and do something with me, I wouldn't just leave you alone~" Suddenly the tips of her fingers wiggled their way out of the sand and were waved at Ezhno in a 'tsk-tsk' manner.
"I might not be able to fly, but I can certainly do other things." With an evil looking grin she disappeared beneath the sand and shifted again. This time she was close enough to the surface so that the sand shifted and could be felt as she re-emerged behind the other kimera this time. "Today is gonna be fuuuuun~"

Ezhno spun around quickly so that he was facing the kimera again. He growled in annoyance. He didn't like anyone sneaking up on hi. "Then why did you disappear under the stand? I probably would of gotten lost of something if you didn't pop up." He sighed and half glared at the sand that was giving his paws a pleasantly warm feeling. "Fun, huh? Just looks like a bunch of sand. Show me this 'fun' already, would you?"He stood up and pawed at the sand as he wondered if there was anythng else planning on poping out of it.

"I was waiting for you, I wouldn't let you get lost silly~ What fun would that be?" She chatted happily as she pulled herself up from sand with slight difficulty, as her paws continued to sink into the sand until she was completely out. She took a moment to take note of his actions before replying in a slightly offhand manner. "I could feel the vibrations in the sand when I was down there. Don't worry, nothing bigger that crabs down there...."
There was slight pause before an absolutely gleeful expression lit up her features. "That's IT! We can go hunting for CRABS!" She spun in place a few times before succumbing to the dizziness and falling flat on her back. Evening before her vision stopped spinning she glanced up at her companion, trying not to giggles as his face seemed to rotate around in her vision. "Ever try seafood, Ezhy? It's delicious~"

Ezhno narrowed his eyes and stared down at the sand. Crabs were down there? He leaned his head over to sniff at the sand suspiciously. Ezhno had always been one to take things just as they were said. He looked up at the hebisune while still sniffing around. "Saltare, kat, dog, rodents... the list goes on, but seafood I DON'T recall..." He lifted his head up from the sand. "It's not something strange or dangerous to my health, IS IT?" He growled quietly.

Rinka blinked a few times before she sat up. "You mean you've never had fish either?" Shaking her head sadly she wiggled back up into her 'stand' position and scoped out the sand. "Well...you do kinda have to watch out from the really big pinchers..." She added thoughtfully before mimicking them with her hands and slithering sideways around Ezhno randomly. "Then again, Salts have those large pointy things coming from their head, dogs have teeth, cats have claws, and rodents have...fleas..." Rinka shuddered a moment at the word, dropping her act and completely missing his point in the long run.
"So!" She piped after a moment, back on track as she hunched over in what would be a predators stance, her tail lashing around excitedly. "What's the game plan? I could sneak down below and flush them out...or we could scoop them out from the shallows....or if you really wanted to get adventurous we could take a swim and do battle with them under the water. The choice is yours!"

"I've had fish from rivers... I don't think they call that seafood. It's not from the sea after all.... Seafood is sea... food right?" He was still slightly confused. Ezhno frowned as he felt uncertain about this. Pinchers? Big ones? Something about that gave him an uneasy feeling. He thought over her "battle plans" and decided he wouldn't take the cowardly out. He would show these things who was the boss. "Of course will fight them under the water. I'm no coward! Show me where these seafood... crabs lie!" He gritted his teeth. He would never back down from a challenge. He looked off towards the water. "There right? There!"

"It's just a silly human expression~" The hebisune chirped. "It just means food that lives in the water....at least I think...?" Rinka blinked owlishly for a moment at her own confusion before shaking it away. "Anyways~ I guess it's decided then!"
With a lack of grace only she was capable of, she slithered off hastily to the water's edge, kicking up sand in the process, and pointing at the large mass of water dramatically. "OFF TO THE DEEP BLUE!" With that said she dove in, completely disappearing for a few moments before popping her head out of the water a few meters in. "Come on in Ezhy~ The water is fine~" Her statement followed by a jet of water she squirted aimlessly into the air as she reclined and floated around on her back. "If you find anything else that looks relatively appetizing bring it with~ Who knows? We could discover a new delicacy of something~." She continued to ramble on for several minutes about random sea facts before an idea hit her and she jolted out of her position.
"I BET I CAN FIND MORE YUMMY THINGS THEN YOU!" Not even waiting for a reply she allowed herself to slowly sink underwater, waving to her companion.
((She seems even more scatterbrained then normal...I blame my state of mind and apologize...XD))

Ezhno followed her over to the water, but did not move as fast as her. He merely briskly trotted over there while remaining cautious to what was around him. That feeling of someone watching him was around him a lot and he could never shake it. Sometimes he would even get up in the middle of the night and snarl at a shadow on the walls of the den until someone in his family assured him nothing was there. Overly paranoid....? Maybe he was.
He stepped into the water cautiously and watched as the current tried to pull his feet in. He clawed his paws into the sand as if stubbornly refusing to obey the ocean’s force. The arnulf only half paid attention to what the hebisune was saying until she challenged him. Challenge? CHALLENGE?! Who would dare challenge him to a hunt?! "Hmph! In you're dreams!" He snapped and charged after in hopes of quickly proving her wrong.
(( XDD I thought it was amusing. <3 No need for apology. ))

The hebisune was already scuttling across the sea bed by the time her challenge was answered. She looked rather awkward, claws digging into the sand as she moved across the bottom while the rest of her back half floated upwards to the surface with nothing to anchor her.
It took only a few moments for something of interest to catch her eye and she very slowly inches towards it. At the last minute she pounced, forgetting for a second she was underwater. Instead of landing on her target she began to slowly drift upwards, to which her response was to flail around wildly, spouting bubbles every which way. By the time she'd floated up to the surface she was out of breath anyway and breached the surface with an over-dramatic gasp for air. She blinked owlishly at her lack of an audience and floated around for a moment or so before diving back under.
Perhaps she would have to be a bit more serious about this whole challenging thing.

Ezhno watched her attempt with the water up halfway on his legs. He sighed and rolled his eyes. How did he get into this again? He dove into the water, ignoring the annoying wetness that was now everywhere in his fur. His eyes opened to see, but growled in he realized salt was painful. He decided to squint, even though it didn't help much, and pushed himself deeper into the water. As he swam he saw a school of small fish swimming around the bottom. He swam deeper and snapped at them with his teeth. They were too quick. He snapped even more wildly and tried to chase after, but his need for air was too great.
He breached the surface and gulped down as much air as possbile. He doggie paddled to keep himself a float. The stinging in his eyes still hadn't gone away. "Couldn't you of thought of a less annoying contest, Rinka?" He grumbled.

"And where would the fun in that be?" She couldn't help but giggle lightly until an idea came up. With a toothy grin she gave him a sly glance. "Or is Ezhy giving up in the face of defeat?" Before the other had a chance to respond she took a deep breath and dove back under for round two.
It took little time for her to wiggle swim her way back down to the sea bed, this time she kept herself hovering above instead of clinging to the sand. She opened her eyes, the stinging salt doing little to deter her as she moved in quick spurts, surveying below her before moving on. With nothing in sight she pondered giving into the need for air before the sight of something scuttling up through the sand caught her attention.
Target sighted.
With the promise of food and air, she quickly darted forward, swooping down like a bird of prey and snatching up the crab with both claws firmly wrapped around the pinchers. She however had little time to celebrate and instantly shot back up to the surface.
When she broke back into the land of air she gasped loudly out of need more than for show and settled into a fit of what sounded like coughing and giggling at the same time. Once she'd calmed down she reclined, floating on her back while waving her prize around. "Rinka is eating crab tonight~!" She cackled happily, despite the fact that one crab was hardly enough. It was a start, dammit.

The arnulf hadn't dove in right away after the hebisune. He had perdicted she wouldn't catch one too fast so one more minute couldn't hurt...
Ezhno's eyes widened as he saw that the hebisune had beat him. The crazy woman wasn't half bad, he'd mentally admit that, but his pride was too great for him to admit it out loud. "Ha! That thing is puny. anyone could catch that..." He said with a snarl. She was taunting him. He could just tell. "I can catch a much bigger one of those.... things! Just you wait and see." After taking in a breath of air, the red arnulf dove into the water. This time he was much more determined, even enough so that he ignored the unplesant sting of the water. This time, he saw a rather big fish swimming around. That was it! He'd show her that he could do this too. It was hunting basically. If there was only one thing Ezhno could do, hunting would be it, even if it involved moving through water.

"Silly silly Ezhy~ Crabs aren't suppose to be big. Otherwise they'd actually be dangerous~" Rinka managed to wiggle swim her way back to shore since her hands were occupied keeping the painful pinchers shut. Slithering onto the beach she snatched one of her empty pails up and filled it with water before dropping her prize in. Then to make sure it wouldn't escape she covered the top with yet another bucket and then secured it with a rock. Safe and sound.
Hurrying back to what was quickly becoming a battleground she dove into the shallows, blindly and quickly swimming forward only to come up sputtering a few moments later. Latched onto her face was a large clump of seaweed she'd swam through and quickly began to pull it off before it tried and got tangled in her fur and all sorts of nastiness like that.
((My brain failed, so as a consequence so did Rinka. whee ))
