I'm not a member until Friday and I'm only Lvl. 64, but I still know many things about RS. 3nodding
So, I obviously checked the Barrows items. They seemed incredible, obviously worth it. But then I learned that they degrade, and 100k to repair them for you guys might not seem so bad, but to me, 100k is a signifacant investment. Hell, it took me 3 months of mining to get my Rune Plate. sweatdrop
So I was wondering. What reliable Armor/Weapons do you think are good and/or easy to obtain for my level?
I've got my eyes on G Mauls, but I dunno. Help out a n00b, will ya? sweatdrop

No to G Mauls, Barrows, definitely worth it if you have the money to buy them and repair them. If you have really high smithing [60+ advisable] then use an armor repair stand, its alot cheaper then repairing it at the guy in lumby. Hm... I'd just stick with rune for now... til barrows.. then bandos. That's just me tho. I prefer Mage. <3

barrows wont be worth it for you until a way higher combat. depending on your def lvl i would do sometihng like this
1 def-iron
5 def-steel
etc.
60 def-dragon
65-bandos if you can afford it
70-barrows
the only reason its more worth at a higher lvl is so you can use abilities properly. i doubt many lvl 60-70 would do dharock ability since they would die easily. they would def overdo guthans making more repairs. and veracs isnt useful much unless in da or fighting kq.

If 100k is a lot to you, then I don't suggest you wear Barrows armor until you can work up a little more money. In the meantime, wear a granite body with rune legs, and use a Dragon Longsword for a weapon until you either do Monkey Madness and get a Dragon Scimitar, or make enough monies to afford a whip.
Use a Defender or Granite/Obsidian shield. Granite is the same stats as Obsidian, except Obsidian has a strength bonus. If you're on a low budget, go for granite or even a rune kite.

If you do slayer with barrows, you'll surely make enough money from the drops and/or clue scrolls to pay off the repairs. Not to mention, a higher smithing level and a Armour Stand in your house will decrease the cost for the full repair, but that won't be significantly noticed up like 75-80.
HOWEVER.. ... .....
Me personally? I don't buy full sets of barrows. Bet defensive for barrows (and cheap) would definitely be Dharok's Platebody and either Dharok's or Torag's Platelegs (about the same price at the moment).
Full set wise, if you ever went that far:
Dharok's for Monkey Guards or Fire Giants in Smoke Well for goodly experience.
Verac's for monsters like Kalphite.. About it there . . .
Guthan's is a good must for slayer for a while, unless you feel confident with 68 summoning (aka Bunyip)
Everything else is pretty useless effects. Full Karil's offers a pretty decent range bonus (defence and attack), Torag's just sucks, lol x.x

I suggest not getting Barrows armor for you. You need to find a way to earn money faster. If it took you 3 months to get rune plate, barrows isn't worth it. Listen to that Kail Kid.
