A bookshop, yes ... he was heading towards a bookshop. Not Shuhei's natural habitat, nope, he liked music shops, game stores or occasionally supermarkets. When he wasn't being dragged by his father to look for healthy food to cook.
Luka seemed positively excited by the prospect. Cirrus had taken him to the library the week before and the Raevan was obsessed with reading, or at least attempting to. He liked to make up stories to go with the pictures.
Sighing, Shu pulled open the door to the shop and glanced at Luka. "Don't touch anything." he muttered as he gestured for the white haired creature to float first. "Last thing I need is some stuff store owner on my back."
Luka grinned and nodded. "Yessir." He said, floating on in and glancing around with awe at all the books that lined the walls.

It was the weekend after the mailing of the fel essence to the Lab and Hazeline was bored. It was nearing lunch time and many of the customers were leaving with their purchases in order to have their meals in one of the many restaurants that dotted the street. Gaians sure do know how to enjoy their food thought Hazeline as she eyed a couple of Gaians crossing the street to where a snug looking cafe stood.
Her attention however, was shifted when she heard the tiny jingle of bells; indicating that a new customer had just entered the bookstore. "Wel-......come," said Hazeline as she gaped at the white hair being that had somehow found his way into the store and was now looking around with what could be deemed as amazement. A second later, he was followed by a rather good looking young man who seemed to be the floating being's guardian of some sort.
Well, whoever or whatever he was, Hazeline couldn't help but stare (rather rudely) at the duo. As far as Hazeline was concerned, her life was pretty dull as the young women had never so much as met an elf in her entire twenty five years of living and to have something white haired (and apparently still young), horned, winged, floating and half formed entering the shop was something all too unexpected.
Gripping the edge of the table to steady herself, Hazeline then tried her best to not look too flabbergasted and even managed a polite “How may I help you?”

Shu slipped his sunglasses up on the top of his head and looked over to the woman with a smile. He hoped she could help him as he had no hope in hell of finding this book. "Um, yeah. I'm looking for this book." He fumbled in the pocket of his designer jeans and fished out a crumpled piece of paper. On it was the name of a book and an author. "A first edition if possible, money is no object."
Luka floated over next to Shuhei and glanced around at the shelves andthen back to the woman who was staring. She seemed rather surprised for some reason. "Do you have any books on dogs?" He asked, forgetting that they were here on Shu's errand, not to buy him books.

Hazeline took the piece of paper offered to her, read the name of the book as well as its author and smiled. "This certainly is a rare book," said Hazeline as she glanced up smiling. "The publisher has long since stopped its production and to even get the second or third edition of this particular book would be hard to do. However...,"
Here Hazeline paused as the floating being enquired if the shop had any books on dogs. "W-why yes," said Hazeline. "It's on the third shelf from the row to the right of you. There's a particularly nice one with lots of pictures and helpful information in it," said Hazeline as she walked over to the said shelf and got the book down for the white haired being. "Feel free to browse around,"
Then casting her eyes one last time towards the floating torso, Hazeline walked over to the waiting man with an apologetic smile "Sorry for the abruptness and where were we? Oh yes, the book. Yes, we do have it in stock since this bookstore has been around for a while so sometimes we do have remnants of various books that weren't sold; if you'd be so kind as to follow me, I can show you the book you seek," said Hazeline as she strode off at a brisk pace. Pausing at a wooden paneling, Hazeline gave the wooden wall a firm push. The woodwork in the wall slid sideways to reveal a homey looking library where books of all ages were stored according to their publishing date instead of alphabethically as in the main store. All of the books kept here had an old feel to them; some more so than others. "We do this for the convenience of book collectors," explained Hazeline as she approached a shelf and took out the desired book. "And here you go," said Hazeline smiling. "The price would be as stated on the tag. We can't be bothered to keep increasing the price of old books. Seems rather unethical too if I do say so...,"

Luka smiled as she confirmed that they did indeed have a book on dogs. On his many trips to the park he had seen them playing with their owners. They looked like a lot of fun and he was hoping to ask Shuhei or his dad if they could have one.
When the woman led Shu off down the hall he smiled and followed after them, his eyes half on the pictures of furry friends as he flipped through the glossy pages.
"Excellent." Shuhei followed the woman and raised an eyebrow as she revealed the secret library. Shuhei was not really one for books but even he had to admit it was pretty amazing. He could smell the age of the books.
Luka let out an audiable gasp, holding the book on dogs to his chest and grinning. A secret room. How cool was that, and the old books inside, he could feel the power in them, the power to entertain and amuse.
Shuhei took the book and looked down at the price. It was high but within his large price range. "Um, do you take cards or do you prefer cash?" He asked, turning the book back over and smiling. Seeing the look on Luka's face he smirked. "Don't touch anything Luka." he said with a hint of warning. "Oh and we'll take the book on dogs too."

“We are not too fussy about the mode of payment,” replied Hazeline smiling. “Whichever is more convenient for you and…,” here Hazeline paused and eyed Luka. “No offense or anything but…Luka is umm…floating,” said Hazeline; failing to mention the other’s lack of body as well. “Despite trying my best, I’m afraid curiousity has gotten the best of me,”
Which was true. Hazeline was itching to ask about Luka but had held back in fear of offending a customer. But if her questions regarding the floating being were not answered now, who knew when they would be?
