    Character Creation

Alright then! This is where I’ll be posting the many different species and races of Idril! You can choose from an array of interesting creatures or you can PM me with an idea of your own. If I like you’re idea enough, I’ll add it to the list, while crediting you with the idea of course.
Now, be sure that you know enough about the species/race that you’ve chosen. We don’t want any weird mix ups. So there will be plenty of information on each and every choice. Another thing you should keep in mind is some of the creatures listed here are very rare. It simply wouldn’t do if we had more of a nearly extinct species than we did of an over-populated one. So, in order to solve that, the numbers of certain species/race will be limited. Whoever can think up a good enough back story for their character to be that species/race gets to be that species/race.
Just remember to PM everything to me for approval.
(I know this may seem limited and restricted, but that’s because we don’t want anything ridiculous to come about. See the Rules for an example.)

Cid’Ailen

Towards the end of the Great War, the Navnlos armies had spread far and wide across the world, conquering everything in their path. As a last stand against the darkness, the Goddes of Light sent her own army of warrior Angels to Idril. Unable to fight off the Navnlos at every turn, the Angels settled for retaking the northern continent of Cid’Ailen. The war ended with the dark army leaving the Angels with their small victory. Unable to return to the heavens, the Angels remained on Idril and the kingdom of Sundosia was founded.
When the world was coming together once more at the end of the war, many Humans flocked to the White Lands of Sundosia. They feared the worst if they remained in a world ruled by creatures they saw as monsters.
The Humans of Cid’Ailen are fair of hair and skin with pale eyes, almost indistinguishable from the Angels they live amongst.
The Angels, like the Humans, appear to be fragile and fair. They hide their white wings beneath spells that allow them to incorporate the wings into their bodies, leaving not a trace of the tell-tale feathers.
Living together in peace for many years after the war, the Angels and Humans created a kingdom of light and prosperity. To ensure that their land would never fall to darkness as the rest of the world had, they formed schools where their descendants would learn the ways of the world, as well as the ways of war and combat.
The fighters from the north are second perhaps only to the black dark messengers of Viridus.
Their fighting classes include a rather wide variation of characters:

Archer –A fighter who has chosen the bow and arrow as their weapon of choice. As archers would do no good in the front lines of battle, they remain in the rear and launch sharpened arrows of steel and iron to rain down upon the foe from afar. Uses only bows/crossbows.

Axe Fighter – A basic soldier who has chosen the axe as their weapon of choice. Their fighting style lies in the strength and ferocity with which they wield the axe. Usually slower with their movements, they wear simple armor as protection. Only uses axes.

Dragon Knight – Sundosia has only one dragon knight. The knight rides the last known white dragon and personally protects the King of Sundosia. Uses only lances and axes.

Halberdier – A skilled unit who uses spears in combat. Like spear fighters, they excel in one-on-one combat. They are much swifter and stronger than spear fighters though, as well as faster to recover after attacking. Only uses spears.

High Priest – A higher class of priest. Uses holy magick to heal allies and wound foes. Able to perform magick without the use of tomes/scrolls. Faster and more powerful than priests, they are more sought after for their skills.

High Priestess – A higher class of priestess. Uses holy magick to heal allies and wound foes. Able to perform magick without the use of tomes/scrolls. Unlike her male counterpart, the high priestess rides upon a horse whilst in battle, enabling her to be a faster healing unit.

Hoplite - A ferocious face-to-face, hand-to-hand warrior armed with a large shield, dual headed long thrusting spear, as well as a short sword. They are also renowned for their stealth and incredible discipline. Fights very well in a group.

Knight – Soldiers that serve the Sundosian King. They patrol the palace grounds as well as the city streets. They are well-versed in weapons tactics concerning lances, swords, and axes. Weighed down by heavy armor, they are slow, yet powerful. May wield only two weapons at a time. Only uses swords, axes, and lances.

Paladin – Essentially knights on horseback, but with the capability of using up to three weapons. Paladins are the cavalry unit of knights, making them faster and a little more capable in battle than their grounded counterparts. Uses only bows, swords, lances, and axes.

Priest – A holy man who serves the Goddess of Light, Talithea. Uses holy magick to heal allies and wound foes. Uses staffs and magick tomes/scrolls.

Priestess – The female counterpart to the priest. A holy woman who serves the Goddess of Light, Talithea. Uses holy magick to heal allies and wound foes. Uses staffs and magick tomes/scrolls.

Sniper – Masters of archery. They have all of the same capabilities as archers, yet their strength is greater as well as their speed and skill. They may also fight in close quarters combat with daggers. Only uses bows/crossbows and daggers/knives.

Spear Fighter – A basic soldier who has chosen spears as their weapon of choice. Relatively fast with only light armor, they are superb in close-quarters combat. Slow to recover from attacking, however, leaves them open to counter-attacks from enemies. Only uses spears.

Sword Fighter – A basic soldier who has chosen the sword as their weapon of choice. They are very skilled with blades, but are not quite masters. Only uses swords.

Sword Master – Masters of the art of fencing. They are deft sword handlers and competent warriors. With great speed and superior skills, they are quick to hit critical points on their enemy’s defenses. While fearsome in close-combat situations, they have relatively low defense, as they often leave themselves open to offensive attacks. Only uses swords.

Warrior – A brusque fighter who has developed great skill in wielding both axe and sword. Brute strength and well-learned skill earns them a sure place in the front lines of battle. Only uses axes and swords.

All fighting classes are open to either gender unless otherwise specified (i.e. – Priest, Priestess, High Priest, High Priestess).

Tethys

Tethys is the Kingdom of Blood, the Vampire Lands, and a world built up on treachery and death. Here lies the kingdom of Asythea.
This is a country of Vampires and their Werewolf slaves. If one were Human, they’d swiftly be sought out as a food source and prize for the nobles.
The Vampires of Asythea are a beautiful sort of creature. Pale skinned with luscious hair of any color, along with lithe bodies and an aura of elegance; they were born predators made of graceful smiles and deceitful eyes.
Traded from the forests of Hailyn and Atrumalus are the Werewolf slaves. Tall, well-toned people of a slightly darker skin, the Wolves wear haunted gazes as they follow the orders of their Vampire masters. Once fierce and proud in their forest home, the Wolves were swiftly broken beneath the sharp whip of Vampire mastery.
After the Great War, Vampires took control of the continent of Tethys, naming their kingdom Asythea after the first Vampire queen; a queen of legendary unrivaled beauty.
For a long time, the kingdom reverted back and forth between cruel and righteous kings. Only recently has the kingdom once more fallen into the wrong hands.
The king before the most recent one was kind and loved by the people, not to mention he was negotiating an alliance with the Angels as well as the Wolves. His kindness was his downfall. He was too quick to trust.
Betrayed by the people he’d thought closest to him, the king perished and the royal family fell into ruin.
A new king ascended the throne. This king, who rules to this day, is strict, unforgiving, and brutal. Abolishing the talk of alliances, the king started an era of blood and slavery.

Hardly interested in such things as war, the Vampire kingdom has little use for varied fighters. Below is a list of the limited fighter classes employed and endorsed by Vampires:

Archer –A fighter who has chosen the bow and arrow as their weapon of choice. As archers would do no good in the front lines of battle, they remain in the rear and launch sharpened arrows of steel and iron to rain down upon the foe from afar. Uses only bows/crossbows.

Blood Priest – A holy man who serves the Blood God, Helshive. Uses blood magick to severely wound foes. Uses staffs and magick tomes/scrolls. Only employed in the castle guard.

Blood Priestess – The female counterpart to the blood priest. A holy woman who serves the Blood God, Helshive. Uses sacrificial magick to heal allies and critically wound foes. Uses staffs and magick tomes/scrolls. Only employed in the castle guard.

Sanguinary Priest – A higher class of blood priest. Uses blood magick to kill and wound foes. Able to perform magick without the use of tomes/scrolls. Faster and more powerful than blood priests, they are more sought after for their skills. Only employed in the castle guard.

Sanguinary Priestess – A higher class of blood priestess. Uses sacrificial magick to heal allies and mortally wound foes. Able to perform magick without the use of tomes/scrolls. Only employed in the castle guard.

Sniper – Masters of archery. They have all of the same capabilities as archers, yet their strength is greater as well as their speed and skill. They may also fight in close quarters combat with daggers. Only uses bows/crossbows and daggers/knives.

These are merely the acknowledged classes in vampyri culture. Not every Vampire is a soldier, therefore not every Vampire falls into one of those categories.

Let it be known, however, that Vampires are not known for being strength-driven or brutish. They are elegant, and would therefore fight the way they live. Listed below are several (not all, feel free to make suggestions) ways citizen Vampires would defend themselves:

Citizen Vampire – Known for their graceful and elegant ways, most Vampires do not wish to appeal to violence. However, there are some that take up such pleasure training as:
Archery
Fencing (mostly rapiers)
Knife Throwing
Hand-to-Hand combat

Such Vampires that have undertaken one of the above listed training will have basic, not superior, knowledge of the fighting.

All fighting classes are open to either gender unless specified (i.e. – Blood Priest, Blood Priestess, Sanguinary Priest, Sanguinary Priestess).

Vareanu

Vareanu is the Forgotten Island, Navnlos Country, and a continent of ruin. It was on this land that the lost Kingdom of Freyaden once thrived.
Once this desolate island belonged to the powerful Navnlos, a race that was feared around the world for their thirst for blood and violence.
Rumored to be the ancient ancestors of modern Vampires, the Navnlos were gifted far beyond what was reasonable. The gifts bestowed upon them marked them as the gods’ first creatures to grace the surface of their world. Being the first of many species left room for improvement.
The Navnlos were far from perfect, but they were powerful. Hearing from a mysterious source that the gods had created others to “replace” them, the Navnlos started the Great War as a challenge to the gods. They nearly won. With almost all of the new world on their side, it was a wonder when a small faction of Vampires left the Navnlos army, carrying some of their secrets with them.
In the end, Angels sent by the Goddess of Light rescued a continent in the north, forming a refuge and preventing the Navnlos from winning entirely. The war lasted several hundred years before those on the side of the Navnlos finally ascertained that they could never retake the continent of Cid’Ailen. The war ended and the Navnlos vanished. Nothing is left of their original kingdom but bones, dust, and the ruins of their powerful culture.

As said above, the Navnlos are supposedly all gone. But me listing them here should be clue enough that they aren’t all gone. So, if you can come up with a damned good reason for why you should get to be one, then I’ll grant you that. Navnlos are pretty cool though, so do well. Here’s what they’re capable of:

Navnlos – The first of the many species to be created by the gods, Navnlos are blindingly fast, super-human strong, and almost completely insane due to the power that they carry. Although it takes many years for their minds to rot, the closer they get to losing their minds, the more powerful their magic becomes.
One of the most terrifying things a Navnlos could do was infiltrate someone’s mind and distort the vision of their reality, forcing it to become a vision of darkness and horror. The fright is usually too much for the victim and it may cause them to strike out at their family and friends, lose their mind, or even cause them to die of fright or kill themselves in an attempt to escape.
Another cursed power with which the Navnlos were endowed is the ability to shadow walk. Being the sacred ancestors of vampires, the only vampires that continued to carry the ability to shadow walk are the ones with the blood of the true royal family. For the Navnlos to be able to slip into the shadows as if they were naught but water, it made them an even more powerful foe. Add to that their strength, speed, and the blood magic of the underworld, they should have been unstoppable.
Navnlos have no use for weapons.

Powerful as they may be, Navnlos are not invincible. A blow to the heart and immediate decapitation afterward will suffice to kill them.

Aradia – Part 1

Aradia, the largest continent on Idril, is home to six separate countries, each with their own unique way of life.
This first entry on Aradia will explore one of the many cultures of Aradia.

Bezrael

Located in the far north of Aradia, Bezrael was once a beautiful kingdom that flourished from its mining of precious gems and metals.
Originally inhabited by the hybrid Human-Dragon kin, the kingdom of Bezrael was not known for its military prowess, but for its excellent libraries and superb craftsmanship.
The land had once been used as a place of exile for those of controversial birth, mainly between the Humans and the Draconic tribes. When the exiles discovered the flurry of gems and metals, they formed a kingdom that they could call home while making profit off of the land’s natural resources.
Forming vast libraries filled with the knowledge of many nations became the next top priority for the Human-Dragon hybrids. It soon came to pass that the people of Bezrael contained magick in their veins from their Draconic ancestors. Wanting to learn more, they flocked to their libraries, discovering and improving their magickal talents over time.
By the time the war came around, the magick users and smiths of Bezrael were well-known through-out the world. When the Navnlos army attempted to entangle the people of Bezrael within their ranks, the wise Bezraens recognized the path to destruction that the dark army walked. Refusing to join forces and share their knowledge, the talented people of Bezrael sealed their kingdom from the Navnlos.
However, they knew it was only a matter of time before the barrier fell. Determined to make the war harder for the Navnlos army, Bezrael buried its knowledge beneath the white sands. The entrance to the massive underground library was known only by a few of the Bezraen Royal Family. The royals were evacuated, along with a good portion of the kingdom. Those left behind made one last stand against the Navnlos army, allowing the rest of their people to escape to the forest country of Hailyn.
Bezrael was conquered by the Navnlos army and the citizens had scattered. At the end of the war, some of Bezrael’s magick users resurfaced in an attempt to retake their kingdom. With the aid of other nations who wished for the war’s end, they fought the last battle.
That time around, neither side won. The losses were too heavy and at last, the people of Idril came to the realization that the reason for the war had long been lost.
Shamed and horrified by their actions, the weary armies ended their war, naming Bezrael as neutral ground. The people of Bezrael returned to their kingdom only to find the scars of war were far too deep to heal. Crops would no longer grow and their mines had mostly been laid to ruin.
After years of trying to repair their land, when it all came to nothing, they were forced to leave. Once more the kingdom of Bezrael was scattered, never to be reunited. The cold desert was renamed the “Dead Lands” when all that was left were the bones of the war victims. To most countries, it was taboo to enter the Dead Lands without a good reason. For many years the white sands were undisturbed.

As mentioned above, the citizens of Bezrael mainly focused on magic as their way of fighting. But you’ll also notice that the smiths of Bezrael were mentioned. Their weapons were the best in all of Idril. Although fighting with the finely crafted weapons was not their area of expertise, there were a few skilled sword fighters in the country.
Here’s a list of the kinds of fighters you can expect from the descendants of Bezrael:

Earth Mage – A mage from Bezrael specializing in earth elemental magick. Possibly received the gift of affiliation with the earth from red Dragons in their ancestry. Is compatible with learning fire elemental magick. Earth elemental magick gives them the ability to use spells manipulating forms of earth including rocks, sand, mud, metal, and even lava. Uses magickal tomes/scrolls to perform.

Fire Mage – A mage from Bezrael specializing in fire elemental magick. Possibly receive the gift of affiliation with fire from black Dragons in their ancestry. Is compatible with learning earth elemental magick. Fire elemental magick gives them the ability to use spells manipulating fire. Using magickal tomes/scrolls, they can bring forth fire in almost any situation.

Sorcerer – A user of magick from Bezrael who mastered all four of the elemental magicks. No longer having a use for tomes/scrolls, a sorcerer can use any of the four elemental magicks from memory and exact his spells with great accuracy and power.

Sorceress – The female counterpart to the sorcerer. A user of magick from Bezrael who mastered all four elemental magicks. No longer having a use for tomes/scrolls, a sorceress can use any of the four elemental magicks from memory and exact her spells with great accuracy and power.

Water Mage – A mage from Bezrael specializing in water elemental magick. Possibly received the gift of affiliation with water from blue Dragons in their ancestry. Is compatible with learning wind elemental magick. Water elemental magick gives them the ability to manipulate water in all of its forms, including ice, water, sweat, the water in plants, and even the water in blood. Uses magickal tomes/scrolls to perform.

Witch – A magick user descended from the Bezrael Royal Family. Uses ancient spells passed down in the family that they learn from a young age. Enables them to use healing magick and develop spells of their own device.

Wind Mage – A mage from Bezrael specializing in wind elemental magick. Possibly received the gift of affiliation with wind from green Dragons in their ancestry. Is compatible with learning water elemental magick. Using magickal tomes/scrolls gives them the ability to manipulate wind and air to do their bidding.

All fighting classes are open to either gender unless specified (i.e. – Sorcerer, Sorceress).

Aradia – Part 2

This second entry on Aradia will explore another of the many cultures of Aradia.

Elegia

Elegia is the Land of Carnage, home to the twisted Wall of Archana, the Infernal Gates, and the infamous Nightmare Room.
In this country, you can find a variety of species. The capitol city of Archana, surrounded by a wall built from the bodies of enemies (some of them still alive or decomposing), is where one can find the Nightmare Room, a brothel surrounded by many legends. Humans, Demons, Vampires, and even Angels come to live surrounded by sin in Archana, the heart of Elegia.
At the end of the Great War, the devious victors spread across the globe, claiming each of the lands they’d conquered. One warrior, who was rumored to have started the war by manipulating the Navnlos, chose Elegia to be her country.
Lauranna, a woman of unknown origin, had been one of the central figures in the war. A pale skinned, dark haired beauty of immense magical skill, Lauranna was thought of as the most powerful woman in all of Idril. She was known for such beauty and power that many believed she was not from the world of Idril at all, but was truly a conqueror of many worlds.
Known on the outside as a land of cutthroats, prostitutes, and dark magic, Elegia is, in reality, a quiet and peaceful country. It is only in the dark heart of Archana that such depravity thrives. Although brothels are abundant throughout the major cities in Elegia, the land remains tranquil and unremarkable. One would never know of the darkness that lurked beneath the surface of Elegia if not for the outskirts of Archana.
The Wall of Archana and its Infernal Gates were a sight – and smell – that one could only pray would disappear.
At the end of the Great War, a wall was erected around the prized capitol of Elegia by its new monarch, Lauranna. It was framed by the bones of vanquished enemies and filled with the bodies of the violated dead. Twenty-two gaps were created throughout the wall as gates. The dark archways were thirteen feet tall and sixteen feet thick; as thick as the wall itself.
The wall was named for the city it surrounded: the Wall of Archana.
For so long, it seemed that the wall had merely been created as a threat to anyone who still had a mind for conquering.
With the disappearance of the Lady Lauranna, a new leader came forth. Eris called herself a daughter of Lauranna and brought forward a plan to bring together a strange force called the Arcana. Perhaps this force was the original source behind the name of the capitol city. She claimed that Lauranna had the twenty-two Infernal Gates installed in the Wall of Archana specifically for the twenty-two cards in the Major Arcana. For what occurrence these “cards” would be used for has yet to be revealed.
Although Elegia is currently a peaceful country, laws must be enforced. Not to mention if there were ever to be an invasion, as foolish as that would be, the country would have need of an army.
Listed below are the fighter classes from Elegia:

Arcane Priest – A higher class of dark priest. Uses a combination of holy and underworld magick to heal and critically wound foes. Able to perform magick without the use of tomes/scrolls. Faster and more powerful than dark priests, they are more sought after for their skills.

Arcane Priestess – A higher class of dark priestess. Uses a combination of holy and underworld magick to heal and critically wound foes. Able to perform magick without the use of tomes/scrolls. Unlike her male counterpart, the arcane priestess rides upon a horse whilst in battle, enabling her to be a faster healing unit.

Archer –A fighter who has chosen the bow and arrow as their weapon of choice. As archers would do no good in the front lines of battle, they remain in the rear and fire sharpened arrows of steel and iron to rain down upon the foe from afar. Uses only bows/crossbows.

Axe Fighter – A basic soldier who has chosen the axe as their weapon of choice. Their fighting style lies in the strength and ferocity with which they wield the axe. Usually slower with their movements, they wear simple armor as protection. Only uses axes.

Black Knight – Knights in service of Eris of Elegia. Powerful knights encased in heavy black armor, they defend the streets of the capitol city of Archana. Although they wear armor that would usually slow their movements, they are so strong that the weight is nothing, enabling them to be just as fast as if there were no armor. Adapted to spears/lances and swords with no need for a shield, the black knights are a force to be reckoned with. They swear absolute loyalty to Eris and there is no room in their minds for another master. Only uses spears/lances and swords.

Dark Guardian – Guardian warriors in service of Lauranna, the Jester of Aradia and the Dark Lady of Idril. Although their mistress is presumed dead, the dark guardians are bound to the conqueror of legend. They wear terrifying armor, wield large great swords, and use devastating underworld magick. Only uses great swords and underworld magick.

Dark Priest – A holy man who serves the God of Darkness, Valencis. Uses underworld magick to critically wound foes. Uses staffs and magick tomes/scrolls.

Dark Priestess – The female counterpart to the dark priest. A holy woman who serves the God of Darkness, Valencis. Uses underworld magick to critically wound foes. Uses staffs and magick tomes/scrolls.

Halberdier – A skilled unit who uses spears in combat. Like spear fighters, they excel in one-on-one combat. They are much swifter and stronger than spear fighters though, as well as faster to recover after attacking. Only uses spears.

Hoplite - A ferocious face-to-face, hand-to-hand warrior armed with a large shield, dual headed long thrusting spear, as well as a short sword. They are also renowned for their stealth and incredible discipline. Fights very well in a group.

Knight – Soldiers that serve Eris.

Sniper – Masters of archery. They have all of the same capabilities as archers, yet their strength is greater, as well as their speed and skill.

All fighting classes are open to either gender unless specified (i.e. – Dark Priest, Dark Priestess, Arcane Priest, Arcane Priestess).

Aradia – Part 3

This third entry on Aradia will explore yet another of the varied cultures found in Aradia.

Heinen

Known as Demon Territory, Heinen is a small country that formed across a vast, ocean like desert. Before the Great War caused the sky to become distorted with an evil aura, the desert known for its harsh winds, freezing temperatures, and practically uninhabitable landscape, was once a beautiful paradise.
Bathed in the glorious light of the sun, the country known as Heinen had once been covered in luscious greenery, complete with cool rivers, bountiful fields, and a warm, humid climate. There were legends of a rare breed of wyverns said to come from the ancient paradise of Heinen; small wyrms with lithe bodies, thin, long wings, and glistening golden scales. The gold wyverns were said to bring good luck to anyone who befriended them.
When the Great War brought its bloody siege to Heinen, the whimsical gold wyverns were said to disappear from the land, never to return.
By the end of the war, the sun could no longer bless the land with its life giving rays. The land began to decay. Once green fields were reduced to barren, empty spaces. The rivers dried up entirely on the surface of the former paradise. Trees died, leaving their bleak skeletons behind as a ghostly reminder of what once was.
It was not long before the land became enshrouded by the sand that had lain beneath the previously fertile earth. With no trees or any other sort of cover, strong winds began to blow across Heinen, creating hauntingly beautiful dunes of golden sand throughout the country. The paradise of the past became a desert of bones and sand.
The Demons were sent to live in the lifeless desert land of Heinen. At first, life seemed futile for Demon kind. The remains of homes, temples, and palaces were not enough for an entire race to survive.
Sooner than they could have hoped, underground passages were discovered beneath many of the temples, as well as two of the ruined palaces. The dark caverns were explored by many as a last hope for a way to live. Deep beneath the sands, tunnels twisted and turned, branching off into vaults, underground rivers and lakes. It seemed that there was indeed hope for the Demons.
Expansions were made, old foundations were re-secured, and an underground kingdom was created.
Magic was able to recreate the light of the sun in smaller caverns where small crops were grown. Strange fish in the lakes and rivers were aplenty and unique edible herbs and fungi grew in the dark, wet places.
Homes were built with the rubble from the cities above ground and stability was attained.
Although they take a humanoid form, like most if not all species of Idril, there were certain things that set Demons apart. Dark, swarthy skin, golden eyes, and usually brightly colored hair were all part of the common appearance. The men are larger and bulky while the women were more slender, aside from having a large bone structure. Demons from a more powerful bloodline were recognizable by the large, curved horns that adorned their temples. All in all, it is very easy to recognize a Demon.
Although they live underground and should have no reason to fear an attack, the Demons still resort to having guards on watch. The guards are stationed in the ruins of the palaces and temples; the very ruins that host the entryways into their underground kingdom. The guards are set up to keep watch for only two days at a time with plenty of food and water before they are relieved by the next shift.

Listed below are the fighting classes and magick users of Heinen:

All fighting classes are open to either gender unless specified (i.e. – Demon Priest, Demon Priestess, Arch Demon Priest, Arch Demon Priestess).

Aradia – Part 4

This last entry on Aradia will explore two of the other cultures found in Aradia.

To the west of Aradia, two forests stretch along the western coast, separated by a small mountain range and inhabited by two Werewolf tribes.
Similarities between the two forests’ Wolf tribes are listed here.
Each collection of Wolf tribes is ruled by an Alpha. While the other cultures have their kings and other such royalty, the Alpha takes the place of the king in Werewolf society. Unlike royalty, Alpha is not a title gained through bloodlines. The title of Alpha is only given to the strongest Wolf in each tribe through a ceremony of strength. In this ceremony, the strongest Wolves, as well as the current Alpha, come together to fight for the position of Alpha. In this fight, all of the contestants join in at the same time to battle each of their opponents. Not always is it a fight to the death, but it can occasionally end that way. Obviously the victorious Wolf is the Alpha.
In Atrumalus, this ceremony is held every year while it only occurs in Hailyn when there is a challenge to the current Alpha and it then usually a one-on-one battle between the challenger and the Alpha.
Concerning hunting, there are usually parties of Wolves that specialize in pack hunting. The select Wolves will go off only to return with kills that will be not only be used as a food source, but also as a source of clothing, tools, decorations, and medicinal treatments. The skins of the animals they kill are used for many things. Clothing and accessories, floor and window covers, and trading are good examples.
Meat is obviously not the only source of food for the tribes. Just as there are hunting parties, there are also farmers and foragers. The farmers, obviously, cultivate and harvest whatever fruits and vegetables will grow in the forest. There are a few clearings in the forest that get ample sunlight as well as some fields on the outskirts of the forest for plants that need more sun than the forest will allow. Such foods are usually distributed throughout the forest by trades. The foraging groups are Wolves that happen to know where special plants grow deep in the forest. Mostly the plants are special herbs, spices, and mushrooms that are difficult to find.
When it comes to appearances, the men are tall with strong bone structures, usually with medium length hair. The women are tall as well, yet they carry a certain degree of softness to their sturdy frames. Both men and women alike are known to wear their hair long, sometimes adding decorations such as leather straps, clay beads, bones, and colored cloth wraps with designs.
Below are separated accounts of the differences between Hailyn and Atrumalus.

//~Hailyn~//

A forest of towering cedars, clusters of pines, and sharp scented redwoods. Hailyn is home to the Lual Wolf tribe, a peaceful tribe compared to their sister tribe, Forlen. The Lual Wolves are most well known for their oddly colored coats. As everyone knows, the hair color of the Wolf’s human form is what dictates the color of their fur when in their beast form. Lual Wolves have normal colors ranging from dark black to light blond and abnormal colors ranging from fiery red to deep sea blue. Do to this strange occurrence, most of the Werewolf slave trade takes place in Hailyn, versus Atrumalus.
Hailyn is the original forest to which all Wolves trace their ancestry. It is an old forest with thick, towering trees, an expansive canopy, tangled undergrowth, and rich earth. The forest is dark, as it has not been hindered much by the felling of trees and the clearing of paths. There are very few villages in the forest and it is in these villages where the majority of light shines down into the murky forest. The forest is home to many rare herbs, fungi, and other strange plants; there are some plants with vast magical properties that can only be found in Hailyn, just as there are some that can only be found in Atrumalus.
Unlike the Forlen tribe, the Lual Wolf tribe is more civilized and connected to the outside world, as well as more apt to trade with humans. They are more civilized and less open to violence, which is another reason why the vampires have targeted them. The Wolves spend the majority of their time in human form, although they remain scantily clad in case there is a need to take their beast form. Their homes are made from the strong trees that surround them and are well crafted with beautiful details carved into the wood.
Although many of the Hailyan Wolves have been captured by the slave trade, there is still a large majority that hides in secret villages deep within the woods. These small collections of villages are protected by a renegade force that actively opposes the slave trade by hindering vampire scouts that are found in the woods. These rebels are not only made up of Wolves, as there are some human and even a few vampires that aid them in their war on slavery.
A vampire colony formed in Hailyn hundreds of years ago towards the end of the Great War. The vampires that lived in the colony eventually ended up forming schools later on that allowed all species to coexist together, all as people of Idril. Soon the colony not only houses vampires, but Wolves, snakes, humans, and even the occasional dragon kin. It is in this colony that the rebel forces gathered when the slave trade began.
Listed below are some of the classes given to civilian Wolves and the rebel forces:

Hailyn Citizen Wolf – A Werewolf that rarely fights, but will if there is a need. When in human form their attacks are limited to hand-to-hand combat while some occasionally carry maces and battle hammers. When in beast form they are more formidable opponents that use teeth, claws, and speed.

Rebel Wolf – A Werewolf that has trained with others to fight against vampires. When in human form their attacks are more widely ranged than those of the citizen Wolf. They are not only well-versed in hand-to-hand combat, but swordplay and knife throwing as well. When in beast form they are vicious fighters with no mercy, shredding their enemies with sharp teeth and razor like claws.

Rebel Vampire – A vampire that has joined forces with the Werewolf rebel group in Hailyn. They are essentially like other vampire fighting groups such as:

  • Archer –A fighter who has chosen the bow and arrow as their weapon of choice. As archers would do no good in the front lines of battle, they remain in the read and launch sharpened arrows of steel and iron to rain down upon the foe from afar. Uses only bows/crossbows.

  • Sniper – Masters of archery. They have all of the same capabilities as archers, yet their strength is greater as well as their speed and skill. They may also fight in close quarters combat with daggers. Only uses bows/crossbows and daggers/knives.

  • Sword Fighter – A basic soldier who has chosen the sword as their weapon of choice. They are very skilled with blades, but are not quite masters. Only uses swords.

  • Sword Master – Masters of the art of fencing. They are deft sword handlers and competent warriors. With great speed and superior skills, they are quick to hit critical points on their enemy’s defenses. While fearsome in close-combat situations, they have relatively low defense, as they often leave themselves open to offensive attacks. Only uses swords.

Rebel Human – A human that has joined the Werewolf rebel force in Hailyn. They are like other human fighting classes including:

  • Archer –A fighter who has chosen the bow and arrow as their weapon of choice. As archers would do no good in the front lines of battle, they remain in the rear and fire sharpened arrows of steel and iron to rain down upon the foe from afar. Uses only bows/crossbows.

  • Axe Fighter – A basic soldier who has chosen the axe as their weapon of choice. Their fighting style lies in the strength and ferocity with which they wield the axe. Usually slower with their movements, they wear simple armor as protection. Only uses axes.

  • Sniper – Masters of archery. They have all of the same capabilities as archers, yet their strength is greater, as well as their speed and skill.

  • Warrior – A brusque fighter who has developed great skill in wielding both axe and sword. Brute strength and well-learned skill earns them a sure place in the front lines of battle. Only uses axes and swords.

//~Atrumalus~//

The south west forest of Atrumalus is home of the Forlen Wolf clan. Atrumalus is truly only separated from its sister forest of Hailyn by a boundary on a map and is merely a slightly younger version of Hailyn. The same trees grow in a slightly cooler climate as do a lot of the same herbs. Something very different from what Hailyn is home to are the Wolves of the Forlen clan.
The Forlen Wolves are fierce and unforgiving of the injustices caused by other species. They refuse to follow after humans and vampires with their way of life and never use any weapons that were designed by anything other than a Wolf. It is also forbidden for any to trespass in Atrumalus without the permission of the Alpha. To go against this law means death.
Although they are considered less civilized, the Forlen Wolves believe themselves to be rather well off. They have homes crafted from the gifts of the forest, plenty of game for hunting, warm furs and skins… to them, their forest is a paradise that they must protect from outsiders.
Unlike their sister clan, they do not have strange coats. The colors of Forlen range from honey brown to pitch black. Rarely do the colors stray. Because of their bland colors they aren’t ideal for the slave trade and are not hunted by the vampires.
While the Lual Wolves are kidnapped from their homes and sent to live as slaves in another country, the Forlen Wolves live in quiet, yet tense luxury. There is strife among them concerning the fate of their brethren. Just as there are those who wish to rush to the aid of the Lual, there are those who would rather sit back and let the slavery go on; even going so far as to say they deserve to suffer for their association with human kind.
Due to the discord caused by the subject of Werewolf slavery, Atrumalus is even more on edge and is far more dangerous than usual for any unlucky travelers.
Listed below are the fighting classes found in Atrumalus:

Atrumalus Citizen Wolf – A Werewolf that is always ready for a fight. When in human form their attacks are limited to hand-to-hand combat. When in beast form they are fearsome opponents that use teeth, claws, and speed.

Berserker Wolf – A Werewolf that is antagonized repeatedly when it was young so that later in life they snap into a feral mode at a single command by the Alpha. When in feral mode, they always revert to their beast form. They attack relentlessly until their prey is destroyed beyond recognition unless they are commanded to stop. Only males are made into berserkers.

Scouting Wolf – A Werewolf sent on scouting missions throughout Atrumalus; they are sometimes sent into other countries. Unlike the average Wolf in Atrumalus, the scouts are not trained to fight whenever there is confrontation. Instead, they are trained to observe and fight only if necessary.

//~Melusine Snake Kingdom~//

Unknown by many – rumored by few – the Melusine Snake Kingdom lies deep within Atrumalus forest. The graceful Melusine Snakes are a strange people considered beautiful myths by most of the outside world. They are a people based on ancient tradition and they almost never tread outside of their forest home. Those that do choose to leave are banished and unable to return. They are called Vouivre for the Melusine do not wish to have their name soiled by deserters of their home.
The Vouivre Snakes can be found anywhere in the world, as it was likely their desire to live outside everything they have known. Other Vouivre, however, were banished against their will. If a Snake commits a crime that goes beyond normal punishment, they are banished. The Melusine do not believe in killing their own, even if they will soon be disowned. There are so few Snakes born as it is. It would be a great sin to kill their own.
Spending their days in quiet luxury, the Melusine border no trade with any outsiders, save the Forlen wolf clan. The Wolves keep away any unwanted visitors so the Snake Kingdom stays forever hidden. In exchange for this service, the Melusine give to the Wolves rare gems that can only be found within their kingdom. They care not what the Wolves do with their payment, so long as it does not trace a trail to the Snakes.
In the Melusine Kingdom, there are nearly no social classes. There are no rich and no poor; there are only citizens and royalty. The Royal Melusine Family is no richer than the average Melusine Snake, but they are of purer blood and more extraordinary beauty. All Snakes have the two large gemstones engraved in their bodies; one over the heart and one on the back of their neck. The difference in appearance between the royalty and the citizens is the Royal Melusine have a distinct starburst symbol around their heart gem.

Melusine Snakes do not believe in violence and therefore have no particular fighting style or practice. What they do have is their deadly venom.

Citizen Snake - The venom of one of the Snake folk is the most devastating toxin in the world and is not to be taken lightly. Venom from a citizen Snake causes a high fever to come over the victim. Within the hour, the fever will continue to climb until all of the victim’s internal organs are cooked. Between the stages of sickness and death, the victim will experience excruciating pain, nausea, and vomiting blood.

Royal Snake - The venom of one of the Snake folk is the most devastating toxin in the world and is not to be taken lightly. Venom from one of the royals is far more toxic than that of a citizen’s. The instant the venom enters the victim’s blood stream it finds its way to the heart and causes it to decompose upon touching it.

Vouivre Snake – As outcasts they are not bound by the Melusine rules against violence. When they left their home they were forced to learn how to defend themselves. Unable to do much in their Snake form, most Vouivre take up fighting with either spear or sword.

(Citizen and Royal Snake venom descriptions apply to both Melusine and Vouivre Snakes.)

Nyth’leya Islands

Located to the west of Hailyn, the Nyth’leyan Islands are home only to Humans.
There are eleven islands in total that comprise the Nyth’leya Island Ring. The main island of Nadira, home of the king, is surrounded by ten smaller islands, each one with their own clan living there.
There are separate clans that rule over the ten smaller islands. Each clan has their own leader and set of laws. In order to keep balance over all of the clans, there is a king that rules from the largest island, Nadira. The elder, or leader, from each clan holds audience with the king on a yearly basis, expressing their grievances, achievements, and so on. In this way, each clan is kept from fighting with another unless there is due reason.
Nyth’leyan Humans are more commonly known for being fair skinned with dark hair and dark eyes with a relatively larger bone structure than the Humans from Cid’Ailen, Theda, or Tae’Skye. The Humans that live along the coast are more prone to having slightly lighter hair colors as well as more uncommon eye colors such as blue and green.
Threatened as always by the strength of the other races, the Humans of Nyth’leya are welcome to outside trade, but not to outsiders themselves. There are very few inns that will house creatures such as Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, and even Angels. The Humans consider themselves safer if they keep themselves well-separated from the other species. In certain instances when a Human has been changed into either a Vampire or a Werewolf, that particular person is exiled from the islands. If one of the exiled were ever to return, they would be executed.
Every person has a purpose and a place in the structure of the islands’ social hierarchy. Some are farmers, others are weapons smiths. Then there are those in the militia as well as those who make their coin by trading overseas. Each individual has their place in life and it is rare that they leave behind their duties.

Below is a list of the common Nyth’leyan Human fighter types:

Archer –A fighter who has chosen the bow and arrow as their weapon of choice. As archers would do no good in the frontlines of battle, they remain in the rear and fire sharpened arrows of steel and iron to rain down upon the foe from afar. Uses only bows/crossbows.

Axe Fighter – A basic soldier who has chosen the axe as their weapon of choice. Their fighting style lies in the strength and ferocity with which they wield the axe. Usually slower with their movements, they wear simple armor as protection. Only uses axes.

Knight – Soldiers that serve the Nyth’leyan King.

Sniper – Masters of archery. They have all of the same capabilities as archers, yet their strength is greater, as well as their speed and skill. They may also fight in close quarters combat with daggers. Only uses bows/crossbows and daggers/knives.

Spear Fighter – A basic soldier who has chosen lances and spears as their weapons of choice. Relatively fast with only light armor, they are superb in close-quarters combat. Slow to recover from attacking, however, leaves them open to counter-attacks from enemies. Only uses lances and spears.

Brute strength and well-learned skill earns them a sure place in the frontlines of battle. Only uses axes and swords.

Vesycantium/Lunareyn

Vesycantium and Lunareyn are sister continents connected by a thin volcanic chain of land. Vesycantium lies to the north while her twin Lunareyn is to the south. Vesycantium and Lunareyn are two halves to the whole of the Dragon realms. For Vesycantium there are the countries of Viridus and Ahani and for Lunareyn there is Elwyra and Tristisolus.

Vesycantium

Vesycantium is home to the ancient Dragons and their humanoid kin, the Dranocyn. It is an expansive land with beautiful mountain formations, open fields, and dense forests. Here is where the first Dragons were brought to life and it is here that they were able to change in many different ways, eventually even bringing the Dranocyn into being. The land is old and filled with many legends of the gods.

Viridus

The largest country in Vesycantium is Viridus, the kingdom ruled over by the black Dranocyn clan and inhabited by the black Dranocyn and the black Dragon tribe.
It is a beautiful country with many different terrains sprawled far and wide.
Atrious, the capital where the Dranocyn King resides, is most known for its fierce mountains and the wonderful carvings made into the rock of the mountains. The Dranocyn King’s palace resides within the heart of a dead volcano; the mountain was carved to resemble a Dragon’s head, called the Dragon’s Maw, so that all could see from a distance that they were entering the realm of the king.
It is here that the sovereign king over all Dranocyn tribes resides.

Listed below are the fighting classes found in Viridus:

Black Dark Messenger - Dark messengers from the kingdom of Viridus. Dranocyn descended from the powerful black Dragons, they are fierce mercenaries who will accept almost any job. The strongest of the three Dranocyn tribes, they hold the capital of the entire Dranocyn nation. They are the riders of the powerful black Dragons. Known to fight with up to three weapons of any kind.

Black Dragon – Black Dragons from the kingdom of Viridus. The first of Dragon kind created by the god Agnion, they are the original, unchanged, and most powerful of all Dragons. They share a bond with the black dark messenger Dranocyn. When in human form they are not prone to fighting, but they are knowledgeable in hand-to-hand combat along with a few simple spells. They are vicious foes in their draconic form with their sharp claws and teeth as well as their fiery Dragon’s breath.

Citizen Dranocyn – A citizen Dranocyn from the country of Viridus. They are not trained as soldiers but most learn basic fighting techniques from their parents when they are children. They are not prone to fighting but can handle themselves in a brawl.

Ahani

The queendom of Ahani lies to the far south of Vesycantium and is the land belonging to the prideful red Dragons. The country is a thin plot of land that connects the continent Lunareyn to Vesycantium. Covered in a chain of active volcanoes, Ahani is a dangerous unknown land inhabited by the red Dragons and no other beings.
The red Dragons do not believe in having riders and consider Dranocyn to be defects and nothing more. They disapprove of Dranocyn having any form of control over Dragons because they consider Dragons to be superior, as they were the ones to come first.
The queen of Ahani refuses to have anything to do with any of the other Dragon nations and has isolated Ahani from the rest of the world. If a red Dragon chooses to have contact outside of Ahani they are banished, never allowed to return.

Listed below are the fighting classes found in Ahani:

Red Dragon - Red Dragons from the kingdom of Ahani. The second order of Dragon kind to change, they are most closely related to the black Dragons with their power and prowess. They share a bond with none of the Dranocyn tribes. When in human form they are not prone to fighting, but they are knowledgeable in hand-to-hand combat along with a few simple spells. They are vicious foes in their draconic form with their sharp claws and teeth as well as their fiery Dragon’s breath.

Lunareyn

Connected to Vesycantium by the queendom of Ahani, Lunareyn is the second half of the Dragon realms. The climate is warmer in Lunareyn as compared to Vesycantium and there are more forests. The beaches spread around Lunareyn are thought to be some of the most beautiful in all of Idril.

Elwyra

Elwyra, home to the green Dranocyn and green Dragon tribe, is the largest Dragon kingdom in Lunareyn. The majority of the land is covered in flat plains while the heart of it is made up of towering mountains surrounded by dense forests.
The peaceful green Dragons and their Dranocyn riders are the backbone of the Dragon realms, as they are the ones that provide most of the food for all of the Dragon realms, as well as some other countries. The tropical forests provide plenty of fruit that is hard sought around the world and the open plains are just right for farming vegetables and raising livestock.
Elwyra’s king doesn’t focus on the military as much as the king of Viridus, but he is always sure that there are green dark messengers to bring in extra revenue for the kingdom. Other than that, the center of attention in Elwyra is on the farming.

Listed below are the fighting classes found in Elwyra:

Citizen Dranocyn – A citizen Dranocyn from the country of Elwyra. They are not trained as soldiers but most learn basic fighting techniques from their parents when they are children. They are not prone to fighting but can handle themselves in a brawl.

Green Dark Messenger- Dark messengers from the kingdom of Elwyra. Dranocyn descended from the swift green Dragons, they occasionally offer their assassin-like skills for a good price. Most known for taking care of the agricultural needs of the rest of the Dranocyn nation, the green dark messengers really are sometimes used merely to deliver messages, as their Dragons are the fastest in all the land. They are the riders of the fast green Dragons. Can use up to two of almost any weapon.

Green Dragon - Green Dragons from the kingdom of Elwyra. The last of Dragon kind to change, they are the smallest and swiftest of all Dragons. They share a bond with the green dark messenger Dranocyn. When in human form they are not prone to fighting, but they are knowledgeable in hand-to-hand combat along with a few simple spells. They are vicious foes in their draconic form with their sharp claws and teeth as well as their icy Dragon’s breath.

Tristisolus

At the end of Lunareyn lies the country of Tristisolus, home to the ambitious blue Dranocyn and blue Dragon tribe. Far from being content with such a small slice of land, the serpentine Dragons and their riders expanded their borders into encompassing most of southern Aradia, excluding the surrounding island chains.
Originally a kingdom, the country has recently been taken over by the widow queen of the late king. Refusing to give up the reigns of the kingdom, Tristisolus is slowly undergoing changes to become a queendom similar to Ahani. It is rumored that the queen of Tristisolus has bigger plans for her land than serving under the black Dranocyn king.

Listed below are the fighting classes found in Tristisolus:

Blue Dark Messenger – Dark messengers from the kingdom of Tristisolus. Dranocyn descended from the aquatic blue Dragons, they are the most manipulative and power-hungry of the Dranocyn tribes. Spreading their kingdom across two continents in their campaign for power, the blue dark messengers will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Openly offer their services for any job, no matter the morals behind it. They are the riders of the aquatic blue Dragons. Known to fight with deceit, as well as up to three weapons of any kind.

Blue Dragon – Blue Dragons from the kingdom of Tristisolus. The first selection of Dragon kind to change, they are the rulers of the sea as opposed to other Dragons that take to the sky. They share a bond with the blue dark messenger Dranocyn. When in human form they are not prone to fighting, but they are knowledgeable in hand-to-hand combat along with a few simple spells. They are vicious foes in their draconic form with their sharp claws and teeth as well as their icy Dragon’s breath.

Citizen Dranocyn – A citizen Dranocyn from the country of Tristisolus. They are not trained as soldiers but most learn basic fighting techniques from their parents when they are children. They are not prone to fighting but can handle themselves in a brawl.

If choosing to play as a Dark Messenger of any kind you will want to also keep in mind that every Dark Messenger is paired with a Dragon partner. It is advised that you build a profile for the Dragon partner as well. However, if choosing to play as a Dragon you do not necessarily have to have a Dark Messenger as a rider.
All fighting classes are open to either gender unless specified.

Island Chains

While not exactly places where one would come from, the many islands in the world do serve their own purpose. Here are some basic ideas about the islands.

Celerice Islands

South of Sundosia, the small cluster of islands house ancient temples dedicated to Talethia, Goddess of Light and Mother of Angels.

Kaciliva Islands

East of the southern tip of Asythea, the Kaciliva Island chain makes its way along the eastern coast of the Vampire kingdom. It is here that the slavers come first to break their new “products” before selling them on the mainland. Vampire slave traders and Werewolf slaves are usually the only ones on the island but there are occasional break ins from Vampires against slave trade.

Naiaden Isle

Known as the “Island of Secrets” for quite some time now, this solitary island looks like a finger of land that broke off from the eastern Bezrael peninsula. It is rumored that magickal texts of great power and knowledge are hidden in a great library somewhere on the island. No one has ever made it to the island though. If one went by sea their vessel would be crushed by dangerous whirlpools eddying between the many rocks surrounding the island; the whirlpools encircle the entire island. If trying to reach the island by air they would encounter winds of such great strength they would be forced to either turn back or perish in the storm. These strange occurrences are said to be the work of the island’s mysterious protector; some magick user bound to the island by the long deceased Bezraen Royal Family.

Ojimye Isles

The three Ojimye Isles lie north-west of Viridus and are often used as grounds for practice missions for young Dranocyn Dark Messengers in training.

Shard Island Chain and Forgotten Isles

Part of the ancient Navnlos empire, the Shard Island Chain is scattered all over the southern side of Freyaden while the Forgotten Isles are to the north east. Nothing is known about them, just as nothing is truly known about Freyaden.

Taeskye Isles

The collection of islands known as the Taeskye Isles is far to the east of Aradian Tristisolus. Blue Dranocyn and their Dragons often rest at one of the Taeskye islands on their journeys between the two halves of their kingdom. They are mostly inhabited by Humans of a more magickal persuasion; possibly descendents of the ancient Bezraens.

Theda Islands

Located to the south-west of Aradian Tristisolus, the Theda Islands are home to not only Humans, but almost every other being found on Idril. Well known for its bars and brothels, the Theda Islands are considered neutral ground and a no-kill zone. If someone starts a fight or breaks the no-kill rule then they are either taken off the island and marooned somewhere in the ocean, or they are executed.

Wirthyre Islands

The Wirthyre Islands are located in the sea between Ahani and Elwyra. It is on these islands that the royalty from the Dragon realms gather every solstice in a great council where they work with the sovereign king of the Dragon realms to further advance their nations’ growth.
