The woods had never felt so welcoming.
Vienna had been lazily meandering from her usual beach-location when she had happened upon this lightly wooded area not far from the house. Though at first she had fought the urge to enter, wanting just to sun herself per usual on the warm sands, she quickly gave in and slipped just a small distance into the place. It was calm and quiet in here; relaxed.
Heaving a soft breath of mild contentment, she slid easily into a deep, clear pool of water, twisting and turning below the surface before rising back up to take a deep, relaxed lungful of air. It was a nice change of pace from the beach, where the crash of waves and the squealing of the younger ones was almost always heard. Paddling lazily to a large, smooth rock, she half pulled herself onto it and settled for a moment, eyes closed contentedly and tail drifting back and forth along the surface of the water.
Why couldn't more days be like this?

The scent of warm sea grass and the lazy hum of field bugs slowly registered in Kayin's head. He blinked his eyes open, still hazy with sleep. Looking about him he blinked again at the swaying green-gold blades. The gentle distant crashing of the sea reminded him he was Inbetween. Intending to go for a stroll had turned into a lazy bask in the sun... which had in turn become a nap. Typical.
Getting up and yawning, Kayin stretched out his large darkly spotted body to full length. With a satisfied grunt, he stood once more. Bits of dried grass clung to his mane and coat, but all he could think about was the hot sun and his nagging thirst. Glancing about he realized the closest source of drinkable water was not the ocean, but the quiet pool hidden in the shady forest. So that was were he headed, at a leisurely meandering pace.
The pool was so clear and inviting, Kayin nearly walked right into it. He paused at the edge instead to peer in, then take a quick drink. A pale reflection on the ripples caught his attention.
"I see I'm not the only one with this brilliant idea." He said with a smile when he spotted Vienna basking on the rocks.

Vienna herself had been about to doze off into a nap when the familiar voice stirred her from oblivion. Her tail snaked about in the water for a few seconds before exiting with a light splash, curled up in the air behind her. Shifting her weight and sliding back into the pond, she paddled languidly over towards the other side, ink-black eyes alight with amusement. Her tail and fins skimmed the top of the water, trailing elegantly along after her striped body.
"Indeed you're not," she laughed softly in reply, treading water a foot or two away from the bank, "It was a nice change of pace for once." Her pale limbs stuck out in the dark water, eerily shimmering beneath the surface. Tiny little waves splashed up against the edges of the pool from her movements, creating ripples across the once still surface.
"How've you been?" she inquired, voice relaxed and nonchalant, "Relaxing, hopefully, though I wouldn't expect anything else out of you." She shot him a charming grin, dark eyes bright in the sun filtering through the leaves. He had crossed her mind more than once in the past week or two; whether it was coincidence that led him here today or not, she didn't quite mind.

Vienna in the water was a beautiful sight, and not because it made his heart flutter a bit that she came over to him. He could see she was in her element, gliding and graceful. No other demon Kayin had ever met could move like that, and it struck him that he would have to learn to enjoy water if he was going to hang around her. And he did want to hang out with her. Meeting her here was a wonderful turn of events to his lazy day.
"Heh, you already know me too well then." He responded, giving a shrug and one of his own mischievous grins. There was something about her that always made him smile, just being around. That was a good thing.
"Definitely relaxing, even more than I expected of me! I was snoozing out in the middle of the field. I had only meant to go for a walk..." His mane and coat spoke to that, still dusted with grass seeds and hay dander. He gave a quick shake from mane to a flick of his scruffy tail, but most of the dust that shook off settled back on him. All he had managed was to further dishevel his already tousled fur. "Good thing we are past the first impressions!" He laughed.

The flitting shadows of the trees and their leaves cast dark and fleeting patches of black across Kayin's already dark fur, accenting his roguish looks and adding a handsome hue to his face. After a moment Vienna drifted back to reality, checking her thoughts carefully to avoid being caught unawares. Her paws paddled slowly under the water, just enough to keep her afloat. This proved interesting, she mused, that she would run into him on such a lazy day.
"I would hope so," she giggled softly in response, lips pulling back from her maw into a toothy grin, "Birds of a feather, right?" Stretching out her paws, she dug in to the ground and hoisted herself from the pool, sending a cascade of water with her body. Shaking her fur out, more droplets scattered from her striped pelt. Her inky eyes opened in time to flash an apologetic smile in Kayin's direction, hide still dripping wet.
"Let's go now," she said, head craning sideways, "It's never too late for a little bit of a walk... plus, I'd much rather be out here than stuck inside with all of the screaming and running about that goes on in there." She rolled her eyes to emphasize her point before brushing the tuft of her tail against his shoulder, taking some of the grass clinging to his fur with it. She laughed, eyes closing for a moment in sheer contentment. The elder had never felt so able to just... let go. There was something about the spotted male that made it so easy to relax, but she could never quite but a claw on it.

Watching Vienna come dripping out of the pool, Kayin knew what was coming. He turned his face away, squinting as he was showered in a mist of droplets from the other demon's shaking. Stifling his amusement was impossible though, and he laughed aloud.
"That place sounds like our stupid warehouse. Maybe worse." Kayin commented, turning back to see her roll her eyes at the thought of her place. A quiet lazy day is just what they both needed. Birds of a feather indeed, he mused. Their personalities meshed very nicely in his not very humble opinion.
"Alrighty, well, I always go for the path of least resistance... so lets see where this path takes us." Kayin said, deciding the meandering path leading off into the woods would work for a late afternoon stroll. Apparently others came and went from the pool often enough to at least keep the underbrush trampled. The soft wet tail brushing against his shoulder caused the dark elder to pause for the briefest second, as his heart skipped. It made him simultaneously want to swat at her and nuzzle against her. The devil, she drives me crazy. Continuing on without missing a beat, he lead off down the path, but hugged the side so she could walk next to him.
((OMG I LOVE Vienna's bundle pic XD They are so layed back they are either gonna be the worst parents evar, or the best! haha! ))

The femme giggled softly as she shook out her mane a little more, a fine mist spraying from it as she did so. Although most of the demons in Capricorn's house were grown, it still retained that loud quality that any place with too many residents had. Not that the house was too small, by any means, but wide open rooms and spaces were much more appealing to her than enclosed, tight-fit areas.
"Not worse," she replied, head craning to the side, "Since most of the winiko there are adults. It does get loud still, though." She didn't object to notion of a forest stroll; after all, you could only walk down the beach so many times before it became cliche and tedious. Besides, other beings usually haunted the shores at this time of day; humans out for a brisk jog (though not usually this far out), lovesick poets looking for inspiration, and even the occasional demon could be caught enjoying the waves and the beginnings of a sunset.
Completely unaware of whatever she had done to Kayin, Vienna hopped a bit after him, settling in at a comfortable stride alongside the spotted male. Her pale paws were still damp, and pine needles stuck to her fur when she stepped too close to a stay branch fallen from a tree. She didn't mind of course; the reddish leaves only accented the dark stripes that covered her legs and body. Her fins lay back a bit as she strolled, path meandering back and forth in the small space available that was already beaten down for them.
"Y'know," she started after a short moment, "I sometimes wonder why everyone else is always rushing all over the place." Her eyes moved from her path to look up at Kayin's face. "Always doing something. Barely relaxing." The elder snorted softly, face turning back to watch where she was going. "Can't just sit back and watch. Never really got that."
[[ I was giggling madly to myself when I was making it~ xD <3 I thought it was absolutely hysterical. Lazy babies? (x ]]
