Guess who FINNALLY for the first time in her LIFE is ACTUALLY going to be taking Ballet lessons....
I'll give you a hint...
ME!
Thank you new friend and crappy job at McDonalds!
I could never be in lessons because I live in a family of 8, my parents couldn't affoard to send me to lessons.
Now at 17 I finally am going to go!
I'm paying myself, so nothing can hold me back!
I made a new friend at school 5 days ago, she gave me all the details. whee
She's wonderful!
It's $102 for regestration, costume fee, and first month payment but for the rest of the year it's $42 a month.
I'm BEYOND stoked!
The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that I'm a BIGGER girl.
Like, clinically obese, size 11-13.
I just hope no one secretly thinks mean things towards me.
I'm so self-concious about the leotard.
It'll be great though!
I want this WAY to much to let a silly thing like low self-esteem get in my way!

First off, CONGRATS!!!
I'm really happy for you, I remember how excited I was when I finally was able to take classes. heart
As for feeling self-concious about the leotard you can always ask your instructor if its okay to wear a ballet skirt or a fitted tee shirt over it...
I wore a tee for the first couple of lessons, but the self-concious faded off after awhile : 3

About the weight thing, just ask if you can wear a skirt or maybe even a warmup dance sweater. I had the same problem, but if you take ballet seriously, you'll lose weight. ...ÅÑÐ ÊvÊr¥ØÑÊ ßØûÑçÊ!

Congrats!! I can remember when I first started taking ballet - I was so happy, just like you!
As for you size, choose a nice ballet wrap skirt, but try not to cover up too much. It's important for your teacher to see your hips, shoulders, and back to give to corrections on posture and alignment.

that's amazing. i feel really happy for you. don't worry, most people don't worry about anyone but themselves in dance unless they consider you a threat, and i don't even know many girls that act like that.
i hope you have fun and enjoy yourself.

Oh my gosh you guys!
Ballet class is going so well! biggrin
I even sort of made friends with the girls in my class!
(they're all 10-12 years old, but suprisingly enough we're not that different personality wise.)
I thought I'd spend the whole year just looking down at my slippers when we were waiting for class to start, nope!
As for the dancing, gosh the first month was hard!
Not so much the technique, but remembering patterns in exercises.
I can do most of them about 80% on my own now biggrin
I'm going to take Wednesday and Saturday's class starting this week, which I know will help a bundle!
(I was only taking Saturday's classes up till now)
I have to quit the school musical(Footloose) to do it, but I was just a cowgirl drummer in a band with 2 lines in one scene and a student with 0 lines in all the others, so whatever!
I'm so happy! I'm always practicing because I just can't wait till the next class! whee heart

Congratulations!! smile I kinda know how you feel, I'm going to be taking my first dance class in two years starting next quarter at college. I'm so excited!! ^.^ best of luck with your classes. You should post pictures of yourself on here when you get your first costume. Those pics are always so awesome ^.^
