Listening to tonight's show, it got me thinking about what will happen in 2012. What do you think will happen? Personally, I don't think anything will happen, however, I think just due to the state of the world things are going to get very rough. Politically and socially I see a decline. Maybe around 2012 we might see a very big event, but I don't believe it is apart of the Mayan prophecy.

I doubt anything will happen. Part of me would still like for there to be a huge catastrophic event to wake everyone up. I've studied the end of the Mayan calendar and it coincides with the solar maximum as well as our solar system passing through the plane of the galactic disc.

Does that mean something? It might or it might not. We'll see in a few years.

I would agree that I don't think that anything will happen. There seems to be a lot of debate on what 2012 even means. Some say its the end, others say it's the beginning, and some say it is a change. I hope that nothing goes wrong in 2012, however, I am also afraid that wacko's out there night take it as a sign to do something crazy.

I hope so, the worlds messed up enough as it is. we don't need more bad luck or strange events, or murders or......
(This list can go on...and on...and on...)

A musician from Alberta Canada will be come quite famous. Hint, its really important who/what he is.

I love this subject! For people to think that NOTHING will happen is just plain denial.
Obscurus, I did not know about the solar events you mentioned...that could definately cause all sorts of catastrophies. Maybe the solar maximum will disrupt our gravity or atmospheric conditions...cause global warming to sky-rocket to a deadly level.

Recently some scientists tried to recreate the big bang...they said there was a miniscule chance that it would create the beginnings of a black hole. We know very little of how black holes start...what if they created a black hole trillienths smaller than an atom, and it will take some time for it to grow...but eventually will become large enough to suck in the planet, then the rest of the solar system.

Who knows? Very exciting stuff. A reassuring thought; we all die eventually...no need to fear the end of the world when we would have bit the dust at some point anyways. xp

Bad physics are bad.

Not only dose the alignment of large bodies usually do very very little, noticeable wobbles/discrepancies within simplified system at best. Cosmic rays have already done every thing in our upper atmosphere the LHC will do. The only difference is the density of the surrounding environment of the micro black hole. In all likeliness its going to dry up from hawking radiation long before it can get near anything to suck up.

I am certain that what will happen will have no connection to the Mayan calender except timing made for dramatic effect.

I was just about to say everything you just did there, minus the bit about Hawking radiation.

But either way, one of the superconducting magnets had a meltdown like a week ago so the LHC has been shut down for repairs. It'll take a month for the magnets to warm up to a point where humans can work on them and then another month before they'll be cold enough to operate again. They're looking at sometime in November before things are ready to go again. And besides, it'll probably still take a year for the thing to reach maximum power after that.

Anyway... yeah. Umm, related to what I said about the solar cycles earlier, apparently Earth is not the only body in our solar system that is heating up, but the cause of this heating trend is pretty controversial. You've got some saying it's the sun, others saying that it's completely unrelated events acting independently. Basically no one wants to consider that perhaps global warming is not just because of human activity.

I don't really care about what causes global warming what ever it be global warming is a good way to press renewable resources and flue economy. Ether way I highly doubt that global warming will sky-rocket to a deadly level. He kinda makes it sound like the oceans will boil.

I know for a fact what is going to happen. Some powerful "people" are going to reveal their cause. I have some friendships with people that are within the loop. I'm the leak =D

Anyways, I can assure you that it will be more fun terrifying than dangerous terrifying.

Oh come on, no one is interested in a possible interdenominational conspiracy that involves the hole earth?

I think something happens astrologically around that time. Assuming that the book Beyond the Indigo Children(sorry if I mis-spelled) is correct. I could go into more detail, but from what I can tell before that mayan calander date things are going to get worse, and I've got a hunch that a mix between our actions, karma, and collective unconsious will effect the outcome. Basically we choose if we live or die lol. Sorry, ik its not funny at first, but its like unkowningly confessing to a crime and unknowingly picking your punishment.

I don't think it's likely that anything will happen. Call it a hunch.

I actually read that ancestors of Mayans get annoyed when people ask them about that. Something to do with that not being their only calander I think. I'll have to look it up.
