Now, I'm a big fan of stuff you can buy, but the sudden influx of all of these "real money" based items seems to be driving the prices of other things up. You know, the prices of the basics goes up - to pay for items that have inflated prices - because they were originally cash items.

3nodding 3nodding I agree, after all how many evolving items can you have, and the last few have really been, shall I say, not so good. By the time it gets through evolving, you've forgotten that you even have the thing. lol lol

Yeah, especially the long-term evolving ones. I picked up a couple of the older items that weren't so well liked, and I'm just saving them as a source of back-up gold. sweatdrop

Evolving Items as investment/gold makers? Who'd thunk it? It really is crazy that the EI are so spendy in Marketplace. Some of us can't get Gaia Cash Cards & have to rely on Marketplace if they want a EI. Also, some of the new EI in Cash Shop is just plain stupid! (Dander, anyone?)

well the evolving items are kinda a gold making scheme if people need it...they buy an evolving item preferably first generation...as it evolves the price goes up..byt he time its done its worth well over 100k then you can sell it and buy a newer evolving item...or the same one but an older generation and still have made a huge profit...thats what i used to do plus some of the evolving items seem kinda silly at first but turn out great...i agree that quite a few were flops...but i always look forward to the evolving item report on fridays!

I don’t think all the new ones have been silly ( Enchanted Book, Kelpi and the Urn) in fact some have been able just wonderful and lovely each time they evolve.

The marketplace has been going up and down with prices for a while now and the real cash items seem to be holding steady but the gold shop items some are just silly, and let’s not get onto the whole price of ink thing.

The evolving items are anything but steady, take the Enchanted Book for example 1st gen now cost 50,000 the 3rd gen cost 100,000 and I can’t see why it’s been like this for about a month now. But if you like some that are not well loved you can get a good deal in the market places that’s for sure.

At first I bought some EI as a gold investment, but then they ended up not being such a good investment. I can't even trade a Gen 1 of Fausto's (spelling?) Bottle for any latter generation of other things I want (beads, urn, wish).

Before, MCs and other items received via real money were attainable, but now, things have become truly ridiculous! You either pay real money now, or spend over a year working up the gold to get it!

I can't help but think about the phrase "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer". Rich people, who have as much real money as they want to toss around, get richer on Gaia. Gaian's who can't afford giving pennies to the 'take-a-penny leave-a-penny' let alone Gaia (or like me who dumpster dive for lumber to make most of my furniture), get poorer because we work hard to attain the ridiculous prices set forth to us by those who are richer.

Yes, after the newness has worn off prices drop. They don't drop nearly enough to be affordable however.

Gaia is becoming much mire elitist towards those who have the power to donate. Gaia is making a hierarchy that stretches further and further apart from the 'rich' to the 'poor'. As much as Gaia dislikes being compared to Neopets, it's truly following in Neopets' footsteps!
