What a change. The hot, steamy days had turned to gloom and rain. Much to Jo's liking, actually. She usually went out of her way just to walk through the rain, savoring the gentle drumming against her pelt. Even as a cub, she had found pleasure in frolicking through the rain. Much to her mothers disappointment, of course. She had always said, "Running around in the rain like a banshee does no favors for a young social light like yourself." But her mother was gone, and Jo was free from her constant hovering. Free to do what she wanted.
A bolt of lightening lit up the sky, followed by a crash of thunder. She grinned, stopping in her tracks to look up at the darkening sky and enjoy the flashes of light. It all looked to pretty, better then sunlight in her opinion. Yes, her coat was soaked, but all Jo seemed to see was the sky.
"So pretty." She whispered, turning her head slightly to the right where she noticed a large tree fanning out. The leaves and branches looked sturdy, blocking out the rain that tried to seep through.
'I can't spend the whole day walking through the rain..." She reminded herself, setting off towards the tree.

To further emphasize how opposite the two cheetahs were... Murdoc hated the rain. Well, that wasn't completely true. He liked watching the rain, especially when it was storming. But he hated being wet. Which probably was why he never bathed.
Murdoc sat on one of the lower branches of the tree, eyes narrowed at the wet horizon. It was just his luck that he'd been out in the middle of no where when it decided to rain. Instead of getting cleaner, the rain seemed to make him even more filthy, if that was possible. He looked like a drowned, mud covered rat.

Jo trotted at a steady pace towards the tree, looking up every now and then to see a strike of light shoot across the sky. Something about the rain made her more...genuine. Usually she had to act a certain way, force herself to be polite and lady like. But when it rained she almost dropped the act completely, and it all came natural.
The tree was lush, thick strong branches sprouting out in every direction. She slowed her stride to a leisure walk. Enjoying the tiny droplets of water that landed on her pale pink coat.
It hadn't occurred to Jo that anyone else already occupied the tree, and she shook off any extra water that clung to her fur and slipped under the branches of the trees. Although she relished rain, she couldn't wander around all day in the wet and cold.

His tail flicked to and fro, sending small flicks of wet dirt here and there under him. It moved at some silent rhythm, as if there was some tune caught in his head.
Murdoc continued to glare at the air its self, fur sticking to his sides. He hadn't noticed the other cheetah either, though she might have noticed with a large clump of runny mud dripped from his paw and towards her forehead.

Suddenly, she felt something land on top of her head. It was thick and sticky, nothing like the cooling splash of rain drops. She frowned.
"What..." Jo asked quietly under her breath. It slowly crawled down the side of her face and her eyes widened in horror.
"MUD!" She shrieked, jumping up and throwing herself into the rain. She shook her head fiercely, whipping it from side to side.
"Putrid disgusting filth!" She hissed, shaking out the water that had landed on her fur as she trudged back under the tree. She began to frantically clean herself. Dirt was not something Jo did not tolerate.

Murdoc blinked, his attention pulled towards the pink cheetah when she shrieked. He beamed, instantly lightening up. It'd been many days since he'd seen her, but he'd hardly been able to get her off his mind. And of course, he had done what he'd promised... He'd come up with a song for her.
He jumped down onto the ground and opened his mouth to announce himself, but she seemed so busy with cleaning herself that he stopped and just watched. Frowned, ears tilting back with how manically she cleaned. Being dirty wasn't that bad....
When it seemed she was done he cleared his throat, now sitting just a few feet behind her.

Jo froze, hearing a sharp sound from behind her. She tilted her head down, and whipped her whole body around. A sort of, crouch attack position. Her wide eyes and alert face slowly softened as she recognized the familiar face. She had been practicing her fighting, ever since she ran into the leopard who practically threw himself at her. She grimaced at the thought. Shaking her head to clear the though, a dazzling smile lit up her face.
"Murdoc." She began, nodding towards him. "I, I was just being silly." She explained, rolling her eyes. Jo was almost embarrassed by her sad attempt. He had so easily snuck up on her, she almost figured her combat skills were all in vein.

"Ah..." He didn't seem to notice, and was just happy to see her. He smiled back at her, wider when she smiled. "Of course, eh, it's alright... I shouldn't have startled ya, I suppose. Sorry." He relaxed a bit, shoulders slumping. He was still dripping wet, but he didn't seem to notice as much.
"So, uh... Babe... How are ya? This horrible weather ain't wearin' ya down, is it?" He didn't pause for a reply before continuing. "I wrote ya your song."

She was even happier for the wind and rain at that moment, which blew the disgusting stench in the other direction.
"I'm easily startled. I don't really mind." These surprise meetings with others had gotten her used to being snuck up on.
"Oh?" She asked more eagerly, her smile brightening. "Well that's a nice surprise!" She cooed. Honestly, she hadn't expected him to follow through with his word. In fact, she hadn't even expected to see him again.
"I'm glad you kept your promise."

Murdoc nodded excitedly, grinning broadly. "Of course I kept my promise, I told ya I would!" He shifted back then, his head raising and posture straitening. "Alright, here goes... Course, ya know, you'd sing it better, I'd imagine..." Nodded, then cleared his throat.
The song was slow and soft at first, with a twinge of sadness. Murdoc was no where near as good of a singer as she was, but he wasn't that bad either. His voice had a deep raspy quality, which wasn't unpleasant, but still very odd. "Is it the wind... Over my shoulder? Is it the wind, that I hear gently whispering... Are you alone... There in the valley? No, not alone.. For you walk, you walk with me..." There was a pause where he cleared his throat again, then continued. "Is it the wind there over my shoulder? Is it your voice calling quietly? Over the hilltop, down in the valley... Never alone for you walk with me..."
The tone changed a bit, from sad to a bit hopeful, the sound of perhaps a love song. "When evening falls... And the air gets colder... When shadows cover the road I am following... Will I be alone? There in the darkness? No, not alone, not alone and I'll never be..." Another pause, where he coughed softly and glanced away, almost looking nervious. "Never alone, you are walking, you're walking with me... Is i the wind there, over my shoulder? Is it your voice calling quietly? Over the hilltop, down in the valley... Never alone for you walk with me.. Over the hilltop, down in the valley... Never alone for you walk with me..."
He finished, letting out a small cough. He really wasn't used to singing that much. When he was done he shifted a bit and glanced to her, watching her reaction.
"I can write ya another if ya don't like it, Babe."
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXM4qKVxeHw&feature=related Quality is horrible, but you can at least get the tune and such. XD;;; Gawd, I searched all night threw my itunes trying to find a song, this was the only one I liked, lawls. )

Jo was...in complete shock. No, that wasn't the right word. Complete awe. He had written that? Murdoc, the mud coated dirty male in front of her? It sounded so soft and sweet.
"That was beautiful..." She found herself mumbling, still caught up in the words of the song. She envied anyone who could think up such a lovely song.
"How did you write that?!" She demanded after a moment, almost refusing to believe someone could write something like that. It was the one form of art she failed in, and Jo was eager for any information she could get about it.
"How did you even think of the words? And the tune? And everything?" She almost asked herself, mumbling it under her breathe.

The cheetah grinned at first, happy that she had liked it. He sat up strait, tail casually thumping against the ground, proud. But then he blinked and leaned back slightly.
"I.. uh...." He actually thought for a moment, wondering how he really did do it. "Dunno..." He shrugged, shoulders slumping as he peered at her. "How do you sing? You just can. It's just something I can do, something I like to do... So... I do it. Though... I guess, first I think up what I want it ta' be about and all. Then think of the tune, then the words that go with it. Ain't too hard, really."

Jo frowned at his lack of elaboration, sighing crossly. She glanced away, watching the rain for a few moments before looking back.
"That's all?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "I just figured it would be more...interesting." She looked away dejectedly. There was a moment of brief silence before she finally spoke again.
"Where did you get the inspiration?" She grinned slightly, cocking her head to one side.

Doc's ears flattened, frowning when she looked so frustrated. Perhaps he should have lied, to be more interesting... But he was trying to be more honest with her. He shook his head and sat straighter, trying to look more confident.
Then she had to go and ask him that. His lips curled down as his body stiffened. "Uuuh... Well..." He glanced away, then back at her, then back away to the other side. "I guess... You. I mean, I thought of it after meeting you, I wrote it for you... So... uuh..."

Jo was flattered, feeling her cheeks warm into a blush. Of course, it was impossible to tell with her pink fur. Even though his appearance and smell repulsed her, he was sweet. Or at at least, sweet when he wasn't trying so hard.
"Thank you, Murdoc. I've never been inspiration for a song before!" She giggled, her tail swaying back and forth.
Noticing him stiffened up, her smile faded.
"What's wrong?"
