This stickie's for pretty much anyone to talk about their own pets--anecdotes, besotted yammerings, whatever. biggrin What would a dog guild be without a place to yap about the furry nutcases we share our lives with?

No special rules here--but if you choose to post pictures, please just post a link to really big ones so as to not run the risk of stretching out the sticky. Have fun!

I have a Black Lab called Holly.
I'll try and get a picture soon, she likes to 'carpet swim' as we call it, its hillarious to watch. I just wish Labs weren't so greedy.

This is Chance P. The P is for puppy. Now, we just call him P. It does sound very strange, and we get weird looks in public. I can't blame the people, I am basically saying "urine". I am not sure what breeds he is. I am thinking he has Airedale in him. He has a beard, and his coat is tan and black. The first picture is of him with bunny ears on. I think he truly hated me at that point in time. The second one took place at a pet fair. They were giving ribbons out for different things, and he got 1st place for obedience. I was really shocked. I don't remember him being very obedient at all confused . xd

Quote:
This is Mickey. Poor guy; he's gotten the short end of the stick pretty much his entire life. We got him when I was three, and then we acquired a puppy, and just as I'd finally learned enough canine manners to not drive a dog insane the other dog died in a freak accident, and the next dog we got drove him insane for five years until my mother gave her away, and somewhere in there my mother had Anna (the three-year-old)... He's such a sweet dog. He's very polite and quiet, and I can't recall a time when he didn't unfailingly observe the household rules to the point of it being safe to leave food around him without him taking it (unless offered to him, anyway). He's getting older and crotchety, but he still remains pretty polite to everyone he meets--except dogs that anoy him, in which case he turns into a snarling ball of teeth and fur. It's quite scary.

This is the expression he usually wears. He's the little brown-and white one with the pained look. Since this was taken about six years ago, he has a lot less white fur on his face in the picture then he does now.

Oliver, on the other hand, is a recent addition to my home (as in, four days ago recent). He's been driving Mickey insane and appears to have the typical terrier talents of digging, chewing, and annoying people. He's been nicknamed 'the puppy' although he's a year old (we think--he was found wandering on the streets) because aside from housebreaking he has no real manners as of yet.

This is the picture from Petfinder.com. We haven't had a chance yet to upload the more recent ones taken of him.

EDIT: Quoted in the futile attempt to get the URLs to work.

Okay, I have three dogs.
Schmoo is an Irish Setter. His birthday is June 9th He is 6yrs old. We got him from a farm about 2 hours from where I live.

Viper is a flat-coated retriver. His birthday is unknown, we got him from the pound. He is around 12yrs old though.

And Puma is a boxer. She will be 3yrs old January 21st. We got her from my uncle's dog's litter. I've seen her since the first day she was born. And she means the most to be since we had a boxer before her, named Penny, and we had to put her to sleep on November 6th, 2002.

I recently moved in to a new house with my boyfriend and he's more of a cat person. sad So no doggies for me... well, yet anyway. I'm hoping to adopt one from the shelter soon to keep the kitty company. 3nodding

But I left a barrel with legs, that I suppose you could call a dog, when I moved out of my parent's house. Her name is Gigabyte. She was abandoned at a computer lab when she was only a month or so old, so that's how she got her name. She's a mix of a Rottie and we're guessing a Shar-Pei because of her coloring, loose skin, and spotted mouth and tongue. She's a cutie... Very goofy and very spoild, if you couldn't tell. She's been a bit mopey ever since her buddy died (our other dog Bear Cat). We all miss her though. sad She lays down in the back yard where we burried Bear's ashes.

This is my other dog that has recently passed on. sad Her name is Bear Cat and she was a pure bred Akita. Her nickname was Queen B because she acted like she owned the place. xp She was very protective of me and my mom, and whenever I was sick, she'd come and lay next to my bed, or jump up and snuggle with me. I miss her tons.

My new puppy, Laika. She is an American Pit Bull Terrier. She is female, in case the name didn't give it away. She is going to be 4 months old on the 14 of this month. Amazingly, she is a wonderful puppy, and she doesn't chew much at all. She also has had very little "accidents". I was prepared to have a really hard time training her, but she is great. As far as socializing her, which I believe is VERY important, I tak her almost everywhere with me. She even goes and visits her mother, father, and sister quite often. She even gets along good with my other dog. Here is one baby picture, and some recent pictures.

I couldn't imagine losing a dog. Also, there is another bullshyt steriotype broken smile . I have always heard that Akitas were mean. Cute dogs, though smile .

Oh, good luck with that, Jalelia! She looks really sweet. Are you going to enroll her in a puppy kindergarten class?

I have been trying to get her into The AKC Good Citizenship classes but, it's not as easy as a person would think. I sent an e-mail to the local animal shelter, and they said they didn't know about any classes. I will have to keep trying to find out how to get her enrolled. To me, it's very important to get her socialized with all types of dogs. Although, she has already met many dogs. As I said, I take her mostly anywhere with me.

It might be helpful to ask your vet. That's how we found the trainer whose classes we're involving Oliver in.

No problem. 3nodding *groans* Ollie's going to be a handful. I shudder to think what he would have been like as a puppy; thankfully we have the experiences of the JRs to call upon and won't expect him to act like a civilized dog for about another year, when he'll be at least two. Bugger's dug up three places in the carpet and he's eating our Christmas ornaments, especially the bulbs, AND the lower branches of the tree. gonk
