This thread is for the discussion on how we should organize the vast number of statistics that will need to be catalogued.

We're totally going to have to figure out some kind of system for this, like some kind of relative power scales and indexing because there's a ton of characters to classify.

How do you mean? A standard to measure them about? I'd think that we should also just post canon examples of strength without comparing it to anything.

Indeed. Go with a Tiering system? God, demi-god, Superhuman, Human etc?

That might not be as effective, as gods in one universe might be weaklings in another.

I didn't mean it as a ranking system (DBZ 'gods =weak). I meant more as a guess on the relative power levels. Because there's no way I'd put someone like say Tien/Krillen/Ranma into the "human" tier as they are far above normal human abilities. Whereas someone like Kenshin might flirt along the lines of human/superhuman.,

For that matter, numbers would work just as well, with there being references for each one.
I.e.

1 = normal person, 0-level NPC
30 = Universe destroying

Possibly using different well known characters to define each one.

Indeed it would. But we can hardly give each number its own thread and expect to find anything in the guild. We'd have pages and pages of stuff and one humongous sticky full of links.

I was thinking stickies for each grouping and then just throwing the number into the bio/powers post as a reference.

Which would basically be the same as my tiering system no?

EDIT:regardless. We need more input on this.

I guess, if that's what you meant. I thought you meant classifying their power by simply putting down "god, demi-god, etc."

My idea is to compile a sticky with one post for each of the following: Marvel, DC, Image, Indie, Shonen Jump, Tokyopop, and Viz to start with. In each of those posts would be links to the official guild threads discussing each character. An official guild thread would be posted with all the info on a character in the first post a la Kyle's Superman thread by a crew member then linked back to the sticky. All the threads just float around normally in the guild with discussions on each character allowed in those threads. That way we have one sticky full of links instead of twenty stickies with eight hundred word posts in them.

That's cool with me, but we ought to also have the front page of those contain the information gathered through discussion.

And maybe a stickey for others, like ADV, Pioneer, Geneon, Dark Horse, Other Manga, Other liscenced anime, and Unliscenced Anime

Right, those were just examples. Let me go work up a template.

On a related note, I think that it would do us well to have a copy of Kyle's thread stored here. What with certain older threads finding themselves deleted, it would be a shame to lose all of that work.
