Have a pet picture so adorable it must be shared? Have a pet story so hysterical you must tell us? Conversely, are you having a problem that even wiki can't solve? Well, I don't know that we can help you if wiki can't, but in any of these cases, we'll see what we can do.

So far, I have not had a pet of my own since I moved out of my parents house (unless you count Sara). Today, however, we went and visited the chinchilla that we intend to buy. He's a year and a half old and being sold because his owners are moving and not allowed to own pets. He is big, fluffy, and grey, with really soft downy fur. Here's a picture. We should be getting him and his cage this weekend. His name is Kenny. I'm looking forward to it and expect plenty more pictures soon.

 This is Pibba. :3 Well, when he was a pup, anyways. He's about, I wanna say, 2 years old now.(?) My fiance got him before I came into the picture. He tells me that Pibba was so small, that he tried to jump over an empty soda can that had fallen over and got stuck. xP

Not a funny story, but an interesting one. We fenced in more of our backyard, which is down 3 stairs from our deck. Usually we just let the dogs go out the door, and let them in when the start barking. One day, my big black dog Isabella decides to be cool, and took a running start, clears the bench connects to our 4ft high deck, and starts running. I grabbed my other dog, Bear, and my friend's dog, Rosie, and put them inside. Bear jumps up, hits the screen door's handle, and jumps over the deck like Isabella, except he lands in the tomato plants. I did the drunk college student move, put one hand on the deck, and jumped down, and started chasing them, without a leash, of course. Bear, the dumbass, starts trying to play with Isabella, while running. They mess around in this empty lot near my house. I called Isabella in the you're-in-soo-much-trouble voice, and she half crawled back to me. Bear, also the control freak, starts biting on Isabella's collar. I grabbed his, yanked them apart, and walked home. gonk Bear, that winter, also took a 8 block run, and I caught him when he went into a fenced in yard with the gate open. stare

Not when you're in flip-flops with about 4 inches of snow on the ground.

Until my dog was about five or six years old, she would frequently take off running into the neighbours' yards, and I would have to chase her. Once her "puppy" years wore off, though, she was pretty well-mannered. I miss her. cry

We had to euthanize her about a year and a half ago because her spleen and bladder had swollen to three times their normal size, and the vet couldn't really provide any long-term solution. I never got to say goodbye to her, though, as I lived in Pittsburgh. I think that's what made it horrible for me. I hadn't seen her since Christmas, and a week before her thirteenth birthday (mid-April) my parents had to put her down. cry

That's so sad, Sara... ;_;
My dog Jane died a couple of days ago, while I was on school camp...she was very old, older than me, in fact, so we were more prepared for it, I guess...it's still quite sad. ;_; But she died in her sleep, so she didn't feel any pain, which was best.

I grew up with Nikki, it feels. We had to put her down because her arthritis was so bad. She actually couldn't get up the basement stairs when she went down to lay down (we didn't really encourage her to go down there, but didn't prohibit it either). I had to make a make-shift muzzle with a sock over her snout so when I pick her up she wouldn't n** at me, because her stomach area and her hind legs were very tender areas on her. I remember walking her out to my sister's car (which is my car, now), and putting her in the back seat. I couldn't stop crying. But when my sister got back, still crying, she demanded on telling me something. She kinda laughed, and I glared at her. Nikki had tried to bite the vet when he went to give her the shot. All I did was smile and say "Good girl." And I couldn't stop crying when we got her ashes. (We had her cremated. The original plan was to sprinkle the ashes under her favorite tree at the house we used to live at, because it was her favorite, and it was where we had buried our other animals, but we decided not to.)

Don't get me wrong; I'm really glad you girls are getting a chance to talk this out, especially you, Torzeh, but wow...This thread is a real downer.
