Oliver yawned and stretched, ready to move on after a pleasant nap in the shade during the hottest part of the day. He slunk out across the hot stones at an odd skipping gate. A casual observer might have assumed that he walked this way to save his paws from the hot rocks, but in reality Oliver was dancing. And he danced as only a dragon can dance, which is to say badly. He was proud of his skill, however, and had acquired numerous scrapes and bruises as a hatchling while he trying to teach himself how to swing his left foot to the right of his right and vice versa without falling down. His parents had watched on worriedly, but had assumed it was but a phase, and would pass.
Oh how wrong they were. Recently, Oliver had begun to master new steps, and was practicing one now while he hummed an odd, made up tune to himself, fully confident that he was alone. After all, where could another dragon hide, up here above the timber line? Behind a bush? One of the giant boulders? Ha! And what would they be doing out here? No, the closest dragons he knew of were his parents, and they were a moon's worth of walking behind him, far to the south and east. Ah, freedom!

Hydrus was alone for the first time in his life and he wasn't too sure how he felt about it. There had always been someone around him before, either his parents or siblings but now he was out on his own. It had sounded like a great idea when he thought of it but now it was getting to be a tad lonely. Apparently he was a social dragon and being by himself was getting boring.
Muttering to himself, "I just had to go out by myself, I couldn't just stay with my family and even take one on my siblings along. Nooo, it wouldn't be an adventure then, well, this sucks!"

Fraise grumbled as she followed her brother. "Stupid Hydrus, of course he goes off on an adventure without me!" Looking around, she saw her brother ahead of her...and another dragon off to the side, doing the weirdest thing EVER. If he was trying to dance, he was failing miserably, and it was her duty to tell him.
"Hey, you! Spotty! If that's your way of dancing, that's very bad dancing, you know!" Oh, that was SUCH a big mistake, but Fraise was still too sheltered to know any better.

Truly startled, Oliver slipped and fell onto his side. Hastily, he scrambled to his feet and twisted about to see where the voice had come from. There were two dragons, both red and blue with silver horns - siblings? - but it appeared that it was the red one, the female, that had spoken. Oliver drew himself up indignantly, not about to let a mere female insult his dancing ability. "And what, exactly, do you know of dancing?" he growled. "Can you do this? Or this?" He danced a few steps each time to make his point. Then he stopped and narrowed his eyes. "And what do you mean, 'Spotty'? Who are you? Fleck?"

Hearing Fraise's voice, Hydrus was having mixed feelings, he might have wanted company a second ago but hearing her insult...looking around...to another dragon had him groaning. "Didn't mother teach you anything? You don't insult dragons you barely know! I swear you are so much like dad it's not even funny! And why are you following me? This is supposed to be my adventure!"
Turning his attention to the other dragon, Hydrus was able to stop himself from laughing as he yelled at his sister and did what he assumed was a dance. Fleck? Oh, he was soooo using that the next time she annoyed him. "Don't mind her, she just has very little tact when it comes to others. I'm Hydrus and the fleck over there is Fraise."

Oliver turned to the male, and decided he liked him already. "Pleased to meet you Hydrus," he said, spreading out his forelegs in a mock bow. "And what, pray, happens to bring you and your sister - for I assume she is your unfortunate relative - through these parts?" He turned his bow into a stretch and got back to his feet. "After all," he added more seriously, "the hunting is pretty scarce this high in the mountain. The game can see you coming a mile away." He turned up his nose at this last. And the terrain was rough, which made it hard to run them down the way he was used to. Still, at least the weather was cooler here, and water more abundant.

Fraise glared at her brother. "You always go off doing something fun without asking if I want to come along, Hydrus. I was just saying that he needs to improve his dancing. Shouldn't all dragons be honest about what they feel, think, or do? Oh, and don't even THINK about calling me Fleck." She turned to the spotted male. "Well, Spotty, I do know that one should not look like a bird that's eaten too many bad berries when one dances--and you definitely looked like a bird who's eaten too many bad berries."
((In other words, to Fraise, it looked like Oliver was a bird who was high or drunk on a certain type of berry. xd ))

Frowning slightly Hydrus shook his head, "I didn't ask you because this was going to be my adventure. And yes you say what what you feel most of the time but you have no consideration for others feelings. It's rude and come off as if your being a bully and saying the things just to hurt someone. He seems quite happy about his dancing and then here you come and tell him they are bad. Didn't you listen to mother's manner lesson or did you tune those out? It's not something your suposed to do, especially before you even propperly introduced yourself."
Turning to Oliver, "Well I was actually on anventure, where I could explore the world. She followed me and wasn't supposed to be here," Eye's widened as a thought occured to Hydrus and he quickly turned back to his sister.
"Fraise! Where's Ryuu? You know she shouldn't be out there alone and since you left too, she would have followed you, well hopefully she followed you." He just hoped she had followed them because her in the wild wasn't something to think about, "If she gets hurt, it's so your fault!"
Turning back to Oliver, "Sorry about that but it's just Ryuu, my other sister, is a rather...umm I guess she could be called nice dragon and ruled by a soft heart so she could get into trouble very easily. As to why we are around here, this is where we have been raised so I'm used to hunting up here."

Fraise sighed. "Hydrus, you always worry too much. I'm sure Ryuu went back to Mother and Father, where it's safe. Besides, Mother never really expected me to ever be around dragons outside the family, so she didn't really put her heart into reprimanding me."
She turned to Oliver. "Sorry about the comment. Just thought you ought to know, and I'm sure you could improve your "dancing", Spotty. Don't take all of my comments too seriously, Mother was crushed inside that she couldn't persuade me to hold my tongue and be a proper dragon in behavior."

Oliver growled under his breath while he listened to the two twins bicker. He forgot his witty response to Fleck's comments, however, when Hydrus started talking about his other sister, Ryuu. "I haven't met any other dragons since I left home," he said honestly. "Are there many others around here? I have been traveling for over a moon, and I daresay it does me good to see another dragon's face."

Hydrus had to grin, "I was actually thinking it's surprising to meet another dragon so soon after heading out, but either way it is good to meet you. For there being a lot of dragons around, I wouldn't know. I know if you go down the way I just came from, you will come across my parents and hopefully Ryuu but besides that, I wouldn't know."

Oliver tilted his head to the side, bird like, as he pondered what Hydrus had said. "You've never met another dragon?" he asked at last, surprised. He had grown up in a large pack, only several days run from two or three others, and found the idea of such an isolated life appalling. Didn't it ever get dull, always seeing the same faces? It had been bad enough for him, with that old itch under his shoulders, longing to see something new, how must it have been for Hydrus and Fraise?

Windross' run tentatively slowed to a trot, and from there he was walking and panting softly up a mountain path, away from the valley pack that had run him off, jaws snapping and scaring him half to death. On his own once more, the poor dragon's lack of basic instincts made his best bet to follow this path until he came upon something -or someone- even mildly useful. Thinking about it that way, it sounded almost like he was using them. In a way, he was, but at the same time, he wasn't. He needed others to survive, but he needed them in much more than just a physical way. In his world, loneliness was a disease that plagued the world. If he cured one of it, he as well would be cured. A win/win situation, no?
Soft red-brown eyes blinked curiously, as a chorus of voices drifted from a higher point on the mountain. The male squinted, trying to sharpen his gaze, but failing, as seemed to happen to him quite often. He trotted up toward the area so full of other dragons, and sat down, blinking at the lot of them and not having the slightest idea that his presence may have been too abrupt, or perhaps badly timed. Well, better to be in the open then watching from the bushes! After all, that would be eavesdropping, which was not at all a good way to make friends.

Oliver jumped, alarmed by the sudden appearance of the yellow and brown male, then barked a laugh. "This is quite some reunion!" he said. "I guess these mountains aren't quite as deserted as any of us first thought. Hello," he said easily to the new male, "I'm Oliver."

The striped dragon jumped a bit in reply, as though he had been surprised by any form of movement in the others, strange as such a thing may sound. He couldn't help but laugh a bit as well, naive as to why he actually was laughing. He smiled a bit at the comment, and shrugged, dropping himself right in the middle of conversation without so much as thinking about what he might be interrupting. It wasn't as though he was trying to be rude in any form or fashion, he just had a bad habit of wanting to have attention centered on him.
"Actually, the mount'ns up here do seem pretty scarce; you lot are likely the first friendly faces I've seen in quite a while, 'specially after me last pack chased me off. That is... 'ssuming that y'are friendly, yeah?" he questioned, chuckling a bit and letting his tail wag gently to either side, an awkward half-smile on his face, as though he didn't know what emotions he should be expressing. "Pleasure t'meet cha, Oliver. The name's Windross, meself," he said, bowing his head in greeting toward the spotted male. He glanced toward the others, tipping his head to the side a bit. "What 'bout the rest of ya? What d'ya'll call yerselves?"
