South Arbor Greenhouse and Grounds The open grounds of the South Arbor hilltop are filled with a peaceful feeling. Big, old oak and hickory trees overshadow most of the ground. Near the edge of the Orchard, a small fenced-off area stands with rectangular depressions in the ground. The larger of the two greenhouses in the arboretum, SAG has the widest variety of plants in Barton Town. The patterned windows sparkle in the sunlight, and you can see mist lining the inside of the glass. Only the arboretum staff know exactly what lies inside this building; many genetic experiments are done here. Who may post:Any parent with a plant anchored in South Arbor Staff members Other parents may play outside the actual building but may not enter the greenhouse without a staff member.

B.D. walked along the trail looking at all the oaks and hickorys that covered most of the ground. He heard a rustling sound above him and looked up, but the branches and leaves obscured his view of what made the noise. A second later a small, brown bird flew out of one of the trees above him. B.D. smiled at himself and started humming Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The music seems to go perfectly with his surrounding of the wide, open grounds, and the huge, old trees swaying peacefully in the small breeze. B.D. walked on the trail until he got to a large greenhouse. "Woah. This place is impressive," said B.D. to himself while looking at the sparkling, patterned windows of the greenhouse. He looked inside only to see mist and some outlines, but not much else. "I wonder what is inside?" he asked himself. He looked in once again to see if he could make out any of the shapes inside, but he couldn't so he walked on towards the orchard.

On the ground to the side of the trail, something small and yellow was lying on the ground. It looked like something had been carelessly discarded...or dropped unknowingly...by the foot of an old oak.
Upon further inspection, one might see that the small yellow thing was in fact a field notebook, the pages slightly smudged with dirt.

"Finally!" Taroshi said, she had entered the South Arbor. There had been no signs telling her this, but the slight change in the surroundings - that she had caought with her trained eye - told her that this was what she had been trying to find for the past 40 minutes.
She took a deep breath and smelled the old trees. Yup, this was definately it. She could almost feel all the plants in the greenhouse calling to her, and she longed to go in, but she knew she shouldn't. Instead she looked around at the old trees.

If she looked closely at the dusty greenhouse windows, Taroshi would see fingerprints and a face-print in the dust. The scuffed dirt and leaves at the base of the building further told the tale of a visitor. Someone had been looking into the greenhouse recently. Perhaps they had something specific in mind? Spiderwebs crowded the bushes around the greenhouse, and who knows what creepy-crawlies the cool, dark crannies in the foundation hid.

Taroshi looked, and she saw. She didn't know what she saw, but something was wrong. There was something with the green house that didn't match... wait! There it was! Taroshi gasped. Somebody had been here recently. Somebody had made marks in the dust. Who could that someone be? She had no idea. It might as well be another participant, eager to see what the green house looked alike on the inside, but the ground told a different tale. The 'Someone' had been in a hurry, considering the leaves and the dirt that was completely out of place. Taroshi stood there. What was she to do? Should she follow this new turn of the road, or should she continue as planned? Her fear for the unknown told her to run far, far away, but her determined and stubborn mind told her otherwise. "Thats it! Taroshi Takahoshi is NOT afraid of a bit of spiders!!!" she said. She took a deep breath, and walked into the bushes, as to examinate the curious state of the dust-marks.

As B.D. walked along something yellow under an old oak caught his eye. He went over to it and picked it up. He looked at it and realized that it was a field notebook. It was in good condition with the pages a bit dirty, but it wasn't ripped up or anything like that. B.D. opened it up and started to read it. The writing was in cursive and sometimes a dirt patch would cover a word, but B.D. could make out a bit of what it was saying. He sat down by the oak where he found it and took a closer look at the notebook. He guessed that it was Kitten's notebook, but he wasn't positive because the name had been smudged with dirt. He opened the notebook to the last entry and read it, but it was incomplete as if the person writing it didn't have time to finish writing it. B.D. was about to read it when he felt hungry so he took out some food from his pack and a bottle of water. He had a little snack and was about to read the notebook when he felt a bit drowsy. He realized that he didn't have much sleep the night before and he had just used up what energy he had left in him. "A quick nap wouldn't hurt anything, now would it," B.D. said to himself nodding off.

As Taroshi examined the bushes, a crack in the arboretum wall became evident. A particular spiderweb looked a little odd...some spots were thicker and shinier than others. Suddenly Taroshi found herself face to face with a huge yellow-and-red spider, its mouthparts waving in warning at the intruder.
****
B.D.'s inspection of the journal's last entry found this:
I'm pretty sure some of those plants we imported from Africa came with some stowaways. I just found the ugliest spider ever, and I know it's not on any of our native spider lists. Unfortunately I found it because of a blinding pain in my leg...I think it bit me! It looks like it might be poisonous, but I don't know...I'm going to
The entry seemed unfinished for whatever reason.

"AAAAAAARG!" she screamed. Taroshi fell back on her 'buttocks' out of shock. "AAARG!" she screamed again. "Not good. Not good" kept repeating over and over in her head. Her eyes widened, as she saw the spider start off towards her. She screamed a third time, shot up, turned around and ran as fast as she could, away from the little devil THING! She thought she felt something on her leg, but she wasn't really sure what it was. It might as well have been a branch from one of the bushes.
As soon as she was a decent way away from the arboretum, she turned around to see if the spider had followed. She couldn't see it anywhere, and fell down on the ground, and tears started streaming down her face, she was crying out of fear.
Suddenly she remembered the prik she had felt on her ankle. She examined it, and sure enough, blood was streaming from a small hole on her ankle. "s**t" she mumbled, she was lucky though, she had been taught well in how to clean up cuts and maybe, if she was unlucky, maybe she would need her elfin skills with removing poison. She sure hoped not.
She took out a bottle of water and started to clean her cut as good as she could. She found no actual sign that she had been poisoned, but she also knew that a poisoning might not show until later.
The pain wasn't as throbbing as before, and she decided to move on as fast as she could, she wanted to get away from this horrible hell hole.
She humped down the road towards her next destination: The orchard. Hopefully her luck would be stronger at this place. ((I'm sorry about the 's**t' part <.< I just had to add it xd sweatdrop , I swear I wont curse anymore!))

B.D. woke up about 10 minutes after he fell asleep. "Hmm. That was a nice cat nap," he said stretching and a yawn came soon after. He looked around him and saw the yellow notebook on his lap. "Oh right. I was reading this before I took a little nap." B.D. picked up the book and read the last entry. He felt a bit less secure then he did before he read the entry. B.D. didn't mind spiders that much, but he didn't really enjoy their company much, especially spiders that could be poisonous. He imagined a fistsized hairy spider crawing around the ground, then he imagined eating it. That grossed him out, so he stood up and put the notebook in his pack. Looking around for creepy spiders crawling around, he headed on towards the orchard walking past the greenhouse with the pretty windows and into the row of fruit trees called the Orchard.

Plot Development:
The shadows beside the greenhouse grew lighter as the afternoon sun moved across the sky. The damp crook full of spider webs dried out a little, prompting the eight-legged intruder to look around. It would be soon...just a little more...
The sun touched the webs, scattering light every which way. A large white ball craked open, tore, and legs sprouted forth. Tiny spiders, patterned miniatures of their parent, scattered into the shadows around the greenhouse.
And they were hungry...
