The far plains were beautiful tonight. The moon hung pale and full in the sky casting silver light on the land from it's cradle in the clouds. The wind blew fiercely threatening to rip those careless enough to lift their feet off the ground far from it. It was on this vicious, beautiful, night that the duel toned stallion came from his place into the trees out into the open.
His bright golden eyes caught the light like a cat's but unlike a feline he was mostly unable to see in the dark. As he neared the center of the plains the wind picked up and roared angrily around him blowing his already messy mane and tail out behind him. He planted his feet firmly on the ground to feel and listen to the air. He wondered what could have made it so angry to blow like it was.
As it died down he started to move again. His golden eyes scanning over the area, searching. He didn't think she would be here, she had never been fond of the plains, but it never hurt to check. Besides he loved this place dearly, it held some of his fondest memories. He always found someone or something, would this time be different?

The winds howled in her ears like wails of some animal in pain. Turning her head to try and blot out the sounds she found it useless, curly locks bounced over her shoulders as her tail waved in the winds. Blind eyes stood closed leaving her dark face to look like it held no eyes at all. The only color there was the frosted blaze that shot down her muzzle. The coolness of the night felt like a mother's warmth to the mare as she stood clear of an and all shelters that could have been used.
Turning her head again, her milky white eyes snapped open as she stepped forward, the winds at her back pushing her forward. The moonlight caught itself in the whiteness that laid over her dark blue back and muzzle almost making it look like she was shinning. Though she truly wasn't in her own mind, front hooves making an odd sweeping motion she walked carefully through the plains. Her mane blew around her face as her tail along her side, it was only when the winds died down her hair fell back to where it belonged. Stopping herself, the mare raised her muzzle and sniffed at the air. Something had caught her attention, a scent.
It wasn't a scent she knew, a stranger and a stallion for that matter. She wondered of whom and what this one was, though part of her said to mind her own business. Should she mind her own business, or follow her curiosity? Well that wasn't hard to chose, altering her course but a little, she started following the scent upon the shifting winds. Maybe this one would make an addition to her growing number of friends, though she would still think very fondly of one... Ama, her first friend since she came to these lands from the north. The shy mare, but a friend none the less...

His motion stilled once again as the wind began to roar in fury. Alright it didn't seem to like him coming out so far. It had been much more gently when he had been hidden among the trees though the great beings had taken quite a beating. "I can take a hint!!!" He hollered into the wind though he doubted he would be heard. He would not be finding his sister out her, not with weather like this. She was too smart for that.
He turned around to head back only to have his mane whip around and cover his eyes and muzzle. He could only wait for the wind to let up before shaking his head and sputtering to get all of his hair back out of his face. He nearly leapt out of his skin when he realized there was someone in front of home. Someone who's back and muzzle practically glowed in the moonlight. It was both spooky and cool at the same time.
"Sorry!" He called glad for the air being calm at the moment. "You scared me a bit!"

Her ears had perched high on the top of her head as the sounds of the wings once again died down and she could hear more clearly around her. Stopping she thought she had heard someone call out to her, turning her head from side to side a little she listened again. From what she had picked up, she had scared someone? Puzzled she tilted her head to one side a little.
"I am sorry..." She called back in the general direction of which the call had come from. "Not many travel with the winds that ravage the earth."
Tail twitching over her flank, an ear turned to the side, listening to her surroundings while the other listened to where someone had spoken. Her pale eyes stared blankly a head, wondering of whom was speaking to her and if they would come closer to that they didn't have to call over a great distance. She wasn't sure how long it would be until the wind's rage would be quelled.
"Might as of whom it is that I scared?" she questioned curiously.

He quirked a brow as a female voice answered. Something was off. She wasn't looking at him but she seemed to be looking in his direction. Was she one of those mares that thought she was better then everyone else? The ones that thought everyone they encountered adored them so much that they could ignore them. He tilted his head to the side, the thought didn't seem to fit. She likely wouldn't have answered him at all if she was one of those mares.
"I don't really travel with them!" He called loudly as another wind picked up. His mane whipped into his face blocking the world from his view. He tried taking several steps forward, stumbled, then decided it would be better not to move until he could see again. The force lessened and he tossed his mane back again. "More like I tested how nice they were and found them to be kinda rude." He laughed merrily at this and then bowed his head.
"My name's Ayden, nice to meet you miss...?" He quickly continued his approach so that he wouldn't risk tripping the next time his hair tried to suffocate him.

Alaska had taken a step back as the winds pushed against her face, eyes closing and her mane whipping behind her, her tail fanning out to look much like a flag or banner. The curls bouncing just a little. When it finally stopped she opened her eyes, not that it made that much of a difference. Planting her hooves to the ground, she would remain there no matter how the wind howled.
"Test them you say?" she asked inquisitively. "But yes, the winds are being rude this night. They don't seem to what one going in a certain direction. As if it knows there's danger a head, dangers that I can not see." she puzzled over the fact that she really didn't smell anything around her besides the strong scent of the stallion before her. "Have you seen any dangers?"
As the stallion grew closer to her, Alaska remained still. His laugh rang through her ears like bells, though faded when he stopped laughing. Turning her head up a little she would act as if she were watching him, but really all she could see was her ever black abyss.
"One has been deemed Alaska, as one had come from the north where the winds are more rude then these on the summer plains." She nodded closing her eyes once more to really hide them from sight. "It is a pleasure to meet you Ayden." She gave a small bow of the head though tried not to hit anything that might have been in her way.

She spoke rather strangely. It was almost formal but different from those he had heard speaking in such a way before. So she was from the far north, maybe that was how they spoke in that region. It seemed likely enough so he didn't bother to ask. Also he wasn't sure if there was a long story behind it and he wasn't sure if he would be able to sit through a long story. With her odd way of speaking pushed from his mind he was able to focus on other things.
She mentioned that she couldn't see any dangers. Well he couldn't see any either with the exception of a few gopher holes waiting to make one stumble. The way she said it made him a bit curious though. "You have bad night sight?" He asked feeling rather sympathetic towards her. His mother couldn't see much of anything in the dark either even when the moon was full and bright.
"Nah...there's nothin out here, at least not right now." He continued raising his voice as the wind started acting up again. "Most people don't come out in weather like this."

An ear twisted back as she noted the concern in his tone, though she was quite used to others being concerned around her. Alaska wasn't quite... Normal, like most other soquili, true she looked like one, but there was still the fact that her eyes lacked the proper pupils and iris in order to see. Shaking her head gently she gave a soft sigh.
"One has the lack of sight even in the daylight. It is good that there aren't any dangers around, even though one can care for ones self in a given time." She nodded before bracing herself as the winds picked up again.
It was starting to feel like a wind tunnel there, Or many wind tunnels at the very least. Shoved this way and that, she refused to budge even if the wind wanted her to move. Stomping a hoof, Alaska huffed at the winds as they slowly eased off once more and she was able to breath more properly, eyes opening she would turn the milky white orbs toward Ayden, revealing then completely in the light from above.
"Then perhaps it would be best if one should move to where the winds are less and the air is more quite to talk?" she wondered though hadn't the foggiest idea if there were any trees around to block the rages of the winds that ripped over the earth.

His jaw dropped silently. She was blind? She didn't, however, sound like she minded much. She had just continued on with the conversation. It was still sad though. She could see the little gophers poking out of their holes in the morning. It was always cute but it wasn't just that. She couldn't see anything, not even him.
His next impulse was to start making faces bust quickly decided against it. There was no reason to behave in such a way just because he could. Besides there was a possibility that she would hear him, take offense and leave and Ayden didn't want that. Realizing he had been completely silent he finally decided speaking would be to his benefit.
She turned to look at him right as he was collecting a thought to say. It flew out of his mind when he got a good look at her eyes and instead of coming across as relatively intelligent he just managed to say, "Woah..." He couldn't help it. Her eyes were white like snow and were incredibly cool. He coughed slightly and smiled sheepishly.
"It's a little bit quieter in the forest. There you just have to deal with the trees creaking all spooky like." He didn't think for a moment that this would make him seem any more intelligent, he had blown that up. It wasn't really his fault though, he was just never meant to be a brain. Brains thought about what they did and Ayden preferred to just do what he wanted on an impulse.

Her ears twitched as the silence ensued around them, well all but the winds that whipped around them, clawing at the grass, her mane and tail. She could hear it wail in her ears like cries of the dead. Oh it made her head hurt at times and this was one of these times. Shaking her head she turned her face skyward once more letting the moonlight shine off her blaze before she glanced in Ayden's direction again.
"Something the matter?" she asked hearing his 'woah' that seemed to shatter what silence there was between them. "Did one say something wrong?"
She had to wonder what he had really meant by it. She hoped she hadn't said anything that had offended the stallion, though she didn't think she had. Tail flicking over her flank an ear turned toward the distant sounds of the trees as their branches did indeed creek and groan under the stress of he winds. But they didn't frighten her... Too much.
"The trees where one had come from creeked and groaned just as the ones here do. So trees don't scare one too much. It's only when branches fall and shatter does it scare one." She nodded softly, going back to calling herself, 'one'. It seemed that the other terms were... lost in the wind.

He tilted his head to the side at her seemingly odd question? What was she talking about? After a few moments he was able to fit the pieces together and his mouth formed an 'o' of understanding. "Oh, naw nothing's wrong!" He said laughing a little bit. "I just thought your eyes looked really cool." He smiled a bit more at her not really grasping yet that she couldn't see him. Not that it truly mattered he would smile no matter what really.
The wind picked up once again making him stumble slightly. He glanced over at the trees and did his best to keep the smile on his face. She said that the trees didn't bother her too much. He wished he could say the same. The creaking and moaning from the trees made it sound like they were both in pain and that something was coming through them to get at him. It was ridiculous, yes, but Ayden had had run ins with faeries and had seen his fair share of seemingly lifeless things moving about as much as anything with a beating heart. Thinking of those times made it easy to fear the wind in the trees.
He gulped quietly and started taking steps towards the trees. It had been his suggestion and would seem rather silly to change his mind now. "Well, let's go." He said loud enough to be heard over the wind before taking slow steps towards the creaking forest.
