Uwivu had once again wandered away for a short time to ponder his relationship. Did Oki ask him to travel with her because the liked him. Or did she like him. Because he liked her. Well, she did seem intrigued by him at the very least. But interest wasn't always the same as love. The thought that she didn't made him want to lash out at something.
He kicked small stones that were in his path but they did nothing to satisfy him. He needed to hurt something. Preferably something unclean or something that wasn't a lion. He needed to get his frustration out before returning to Oki.

Laika was, in a rare moment of calm, sleeping under a shady bush. It was midday, but she had just eaten and had found herself in need of a nap. She would have slept the rest of the day away if strange noises hadn't roused her.
Lifting her head, she peered through the branches of the bush to discover the source. She saw a lion moving toward her, looking sad or grumpy. Tilting her head, she wondered what was the matter with him. Deciding it would be nice to make him happy, she crawled out from the bush and trotted over to him.
So far she had met a number of big lions, and all of them had turned out to be really nice to her. Particularly Mito, her big pillow. Why should this one be any different? Panting a smile, she barked her hello.
"Hi! I'm Laika! You look sad. Are you sad?"

Uwivu's brainstorming and stewing in his own rage and self-pity was only to be interrupted by a young, bright wild dog. She seemed quite happy but she was also a bit nosy. Ugh. What a pest! Just the fact that she was a wild dog made him want to lash out at her. She was adding to the pile of things that made him furious. Especially what to do with one so young. Oh, what to do, what to do. Maybe she would leave if he lashed out at him verbally.
"Go away." He said fairly calmly, although his words were oozing with hatred. He was probably just giving himself a false sense of hope. Why would a young wild dog understand? She probably wouldn't even know how it felt when you loved someone and they may not love you.
Uwivu's rage was rising.

Laika tilted his head. This big guy seemed more angry than sad now, but that was not what she had intended to do. Smiling, an effort to calm him, she wagged her tail and moved closer to him. She did not register his tone as being serious, having never been told to leave so abruptly before. She had met a handful of lions now, and none of them had been mean to her.
He must have been having a bad day.
"Are you having a bad day?" she asked, her tone light and welcoming, "I'm not! But that's not nice to say to someone who is having a bad day, is it? But I just mean that I'm having enough of a good day that I can share it with you, if you'd like! I don't know how that works though. We could just talk! I'm a good talker. Others say I don't listen, but I do listen. How can I talk back if I don't!"
She laughed and looked up at him expectantly, wanting him to be happier.

Lowering his eyes, he wondered what was wrong with this little... thing. Ugh, he was tired of her blabbing on and on. She obviously had no respect for her elders. But what was worse was the fact that she seemed utterly unharmed by his verbal thrashing. Little ball of filth... Ew. Now it was touching him! That was too far. At that very moment, Uwivu snapped. His anger was now coursing through his veins. Yes, a good fight. It might not fight back but at least he could take out his frustration out on someone who deserved it.
Just as he lost control, his claws unsheathed and he let out a low growl for a few moments and then lashed out with his forepaw, claws extended. In his mind, she did deserve it and believed that the gods demanded blood.

Laika leaped backward when he moved to swipe at her. It was not a defensive move, as she thought he was suddenly playing with her. Barking and laughing, she looked up at him quizzically. Something didn't feel right, but she was willing to give him a chance if he wanted her friendship.
Even if he was a growly, angry lion.
"You missed me!" she said. She did not know the difference between playing and taunting, and felt that she was being jovial and encouraging with her words. She did not realize she was simply tempting fate, "I bet you can't get me!"
She darted forward and swatted her paw playfully at him, tagging the ankle of his foreleg harmlessly before darting back. Panting, she bowed forward, tail wagging in the air expectantly, as if waiting for his turn.

Ugh... How could something so small and disgusting be so irritating? Wait. Did she just dodge his swipe? She obviously must have been trained in the art of fighting. How dare she taunt him so? His eyes lowered his eyes into a seething glare. No trained blob of slime would defeat him. Now that he realized she was trained, it gave him another 'justified' reason to rip her to shreds.
Recoiling heavily as she swatted him the paw, he bore this teeth and spat, "How dare you, scum! You should be begging me for mercy yet you provoke me further?" The poor little wild dog didn't realize that she had made a grave mistake. Uwivu then leaned back on his haunches and lunged at the young dog.

Laika was not familiar with this game. Ears cautiously lowering, she kept her distance as the lion reacted to her playful swatting. She hadn't thought she had hurt him, but maybe he was more sensitive than she had imagined. Frowning, she wondered if she should apologize, tail falling as she took a step toward him.
And then he spoke in a tone she was not used to hearing. It was angry and mean, and it made her feel like she hadn't since she was a very small puppy: it scared her. She had no idea what he was saying, not knowing what 'provoking' she had done, or why she should be begging him for anything, let alone mercy.
Yelping, she saw him coiling and knew they were no longer playing. Turning tail and hauling her light pink body out of there, she tried to escape him. Unfortunately, she was still small and was not very fast. He got so close that it scared her and she lost her footing, skidding to stop on the ground.
"Why can't we be friends!?"

Landing heavily on the small wild dog, he stood on her side and looked her in the eyes with his own flashing with the thrill of the adrenaline and insanity taking over. "Who trained you?", he demanded. "It was some rebellion against the gods wasn't it? I will not let such a disgusting creature even look at their glory! You should be bowing to them every moment of the day so that they may forgive you for being so wretched!"
His insanity was at full capacity as he let out his full out rant. As he described how horrible she was, his claws stuck out, piercing her skin. At the end of his rant, he raised one paw, and lashed out at her face.
"Friends?!", he scoffed along with a maniacal laugh, "I would never be friends with a fiend like you! If you had respected me as you should have, you wouldn't be in this situation! You are obviously a young soldier, trained for war against the gods. Yes the gods will be pleased with the sacrifice of one so sin-filled and a conspirator." As he uttered 'conspirator, he lowered his head towards hers, glared at her and wiggled his claws deeper into her flesh.

Laika had no idea what the words coming from the big, suddenly terrifying lion meant. She had never been so scared before, having lived a relatively happy, turmoil free life up until this point. She didn't know how to deal with it, or even that the emotion truly was. All she knew was that she didn't like it, and wanted it to stop.
Yelping and trying to escape, throwing every ounce of her energy into the endeavor, the small wild dog managed to drag her suddenly bloodied frame free of his paws, using her size to her advantage and darting as best she could away. She was dazed, pained, and could not keep herself from staggering as she tried to get her bearings. Looking back at him, her tail between her legs and her ears flat against her head, she whimpered and tears began to escape her soft, sea green eyes.
She had never cried before.
"I don't know what a soldier is," she said miserably, "I don't know what a war is, or what a conspa..pire... I don't know what those words are," she said, still compelled to apologize for whatever she had done to make him so angry. She felt entirely guilty, her mind telling her that no one was this cruel without a reason, and that she must have done something very bad, "I'm telling Mito!" she cried, turning and trying to limp away. It was a difficult endeavor, however, the pain of her body so new and strong she could hardly control her small limbs.

Laika had just confirmed once more why he felt the need to destroy her and her entire breed. They bred fast and admittedly, were natural-born fighters that had instincts that let her escape his paws once again. After he was finished with her, he must warn Oki.
Pinning his ears he hatefully spat, "Why must you lowlifes try to destroy all that is pure and sacred?!" Uwivu was hysterical in the midst of his passion and bloodlust.
As small tears fell from the young wild dogs eyes, he realized that child soldiers had a weakness, they were not quite ready to fight. This could prove to be a major advantage, especially if the rebellion was strong. Furiously, he lashed his claws at her again as he began to interrogate her.
"How many have you gathered for your horrible rebellion?" He spat, "Of course you would act as though you didn't understand, it must be part of your training! Yes, take me to this Mito. His is your leader, correct? Answer me!" He snarled, bringing his face ever closer to hers, his teeth bared fiercely.

Laika whimpered helplessly as he roared at her, his words so utterly strange that they just made her cry harder. She had no idea she was destroying anything, and she certainly didn't want to be responsible for it. She cried when he lashed out at her again, falling to the ground and watching in horror at the blood that stained the grasses around her.
She had hurt herself before, of course, but this was brand new. She had never seen so much of her own blood before, and she suddenly panicked. It was inside of her for a reason, and she knew that it was bad for it to be spilling out like that. The lacerations his claws had given her were deep, though she was not familiar enough with battles and injuries to know how dangerous that could prove.
"I don't have a rebellion!" she barked back, scrambling, "I'm not training! I'm a flower!" the term her adopted father so endearingly called her flashed into her head, and suddenly she found herself desperately longing for Mito to come and find her. She stared at him as he brought his face closer to her, "Mito is my daddy! He's a lion! But not like you, because he's a nice lion and you're awful! I don't know why you're so mad, but I'm sorry!"
Tears streamed from her sea green eyes as she spoke, "I don't know what I did or what you think I did, but I'm sorry! I don't like making people upset or sad, and I don't know what you're so mad about but I'm sorry it's my fault!"

With satisfaction, he stared at the crimson liquid that quickly seeped out of the large gashes he carved. Holding his head up and chest out triumphantly for a moment, he drew a deep breath as he drank in the tangy scent of his opponent's blood filled the air.
But his moment of bliss at the sight of her blood did not last long as her whimpers and talking snapped him quickly to reality. With a deep breath, his eyes whipped back to her as she denied everything he accused of her.
"So this Mito is the leader of the impure rebellion. His punishment shall be much harsher than usual as he chose to be so impure! Such a shame, that one of the blessed willingly turned to the filth! I would think one even so ignorant as you should understand that you are nothing like a flower. Flowers bring ease and calmness but you... You bring only chaos and disorder. A weed is a more fitting term!", Uwivu hissed harshly.
Now Uwivu was just poking around for weaknesses. He was satisfied with her punishment for now. Besides, what good would she be dead? Now he could let her escape and follow her to this 'Mito' alongside Oki.

"You don't know me!" Laika said, having never disagreed with someone so violently before. She even growled, though it was so strange a sound to her that she didn't recognize it. She forced herself up and looked up at him, sniffling.
"You're a bad lion! You're the one that's bad! You say that it's me or Mito, but we're nice and we have love that we can share: you just like to hurt and make others cry. You're a monster and the world hates you."
With that she turned and ran as fast as her little injured body could carry her, stumbling and crying, running for her daddy's den. She hadn't thought she might be followed. All she wanted to do was find Mito and be safe.

Her deep words filled with utter fear and pain did nothing to his esteem. He had been called much worse and to him, her opinion meant absolutely nothing to him. He said nothing as he saw her prepare to run, he was simply satisfied that he had injured the dog and had now created a messenger to this Mito, or "Daddy" that there was now going to be a war. A war that would be an effort to serve the gods and goddesses.
He watched as she stumbled to her foster parent's den and made a strong mental note of where she went as he turned to go back to Oki. She must know of the events that occurred today so they may more deeply penetrate their forces.
