For those of you who didn't see, the Chicago Bears beat the Colts.
Decisively.
...
I think I may be going into shock.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 08, 2008 8:12 pm

Yeah, I too was pretty surprised. The Bears beat the Colts in just about every aspect. Both offensively and defensively. It was the first Colts' loss in a season opener in quite a while, and it was a pretty bad was to kickoff the new Lucas Oil Stadium.

...anyways, wrong forum, I'll move this.

Peyton Manning played solid for the Colts. I wouldn't really criticize the way he played. The Chicago Bears put an impressive amount of pressure on Manning, the the Colts offensive line played bad. Also notice that Jeff Saturday, Joseph Addai, and Dallas Clark were all injured in that game, and whom Peyton usually relies on a lot.

Still, "The Manning" is a bread winner. The legendary title shall not fall upon the one with thy record as a loss!

Well what about the great Archie Manning's legacy, even with a losing record in his career? wink

Yeah, he had a beast game. He should be the clear #1 RB for the Chicago Bears, which they needed for quite a while.

Lions running backs over the years always had a tendency of not improving much. This should also be the case for Kevin Jones. Still look for Forte to be the #1 back, and Jones should get his touches.

I'm really only surprised by Forte's performance. Orton played how the Bears wanted him to. He did this in his rookie season as well. Then the defense played exactly how the Bears defense plays when they are not hampered with injuries.

Forte was great in college, and I always thought that he would fit the Chicago Bears' offense well. Orton is a decent, solid QB, who only seems good because he's replacing the horrible Grossman. Yet the defensive performance was the biggest surprise to me. Although the Colts' offensive line was injured, the Bears commanded the pressure against Peyton Manning. They were also able to shut down Addai.

I wasn't surprised by the Bears defense. They always have had a really strong defense. Last season they were just beat down with injuries. Lance Briggs was injured, Urlacher played injured, Archuleta, Vasher, Tillman and Harris all had injuries last season. With all of those guys back playing healthy, minus Archuleta their defense is back to their old ways.
