Recently the gaia cinema came up with Mushishi first two episodes.
I really liked it.

Very mystical, great animated; no wonder this series got the "best art directors" award.

Any opinions?

I liked them... it seemed like every episode was its own story though... and each one was a bit depressing...

Mushishi can be very depressing at times, but if you're in the right mood it's also very thought-provoking. It's kind of man versus nature, but no one is completely good, no one completely evil. The mushi are just doing their thing, and humans have to carve out a place for themselves within that world. My favorite episode is probably the one with the swamp mushi, though I also like the sounds in the snow. (Wish I could remember which episodes were which!) The manga's still being released, I think?
