It was early evening, sunlight already dimming and a hot breeze kicking in.
And Oboé was bored.
Usually one to keep herself busy and entertained with no problems at all, Oboé felt strange at this feeling of boredom. Vivid images of how she used to live began to dance in her mind. There would be singing and dancing starting up then at this time...There would be laughter and food being prepared as an after-show feast. Already, lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs and any other creature would be making their way out of seemingly no where to see an amazing performance.
Oboé sighed.
Those certainly were the days...But what good was it to think about the past so much? She was living in the present in her own life...That's right! Who was to say she couldn't still live like a performer?
With that thought in mind, a lazy smile made its way across Oboé's face and she stood up, leaping out of the tree she was lounging in. She made her way into a large clearing of dust and dirt. She smoothed her paws over it, like she used to do. The smiled at the ground, memories playing over in her mind. Then, she danced. Her mind made up its own beat and even though there was no sound, one could hear music simply by watching Oboé's moves.
Soon, Oboé was lost in the dance.

Nabila walked onward looking for a tree to lounge in for the quieter part of the afternoon. She wanted to find a large shady tree with many branches and but she wasn't having any luck. So she simply continued to wandered.
She walked slowly and quietly, just strolling and observing. The animals were mostly lazing about in the afternoon sun, some napping, others chatting while young ones play. Siti's eyes roamed and she spotted what she thought would be the perfect tree and made her way toward it.
Before she reached the tree she saw quite the site. A elegant leopardess glided about close to the tree. It was entrancing to watch and Siti found herself glued to the spot, absolutely enraptured.
'What was this?', she thought, 'it's so beautiful.'

With each passing moment, Oboé fell deeper and deeper into her dance. For this dance, there was no audience. This dance was hers and hers alone.
Body dipping low and tail swaying up, Oboé continued to move to the unheard beat. Slowly, she began letting go of each and every hurt memory she had. She released the hidden anger to the friends who abandoned her and she forgave them. She even smiled at their memory.
As Oboé fell deeper and deeper, she suddenly became more aware of her current emotional state. Her eyes had long been filled with tears, and her ears were trembling as they always did when she was filled with anxiety. She scoffed at herself for her weakness. It really wasn't like her. With a sharp breath, Oboé shrugged off those feelings and continued. But something else caught her attention after that.
There was a strange feeling against her skin; something seeming to penetrate the secret barrier Oboé's dance had erected around her. It was the familiar feeling of the eyes of an audience...
Audience?!
Oboé faltered in her movements and stood still. She whipped her head around to the feeling of watchful eyes and stared. In the dimming light of the evening stood a lioness. A look of enchantment was in her yellow eyes and it was obvious she had been watching. Oboé's heart was pounding quickly at the shock of seeing someone watching her, but she tried to calm herself down. With a gasp Oboé said, "Goodness, you..." She took a deep breath. "You startled me." she finished. But a smile showed that she wasn't upset about it. "Were you watching?" Oboé asked kindly, even though she knew the answer.

Siti could help but to watch the leopardess move, she did not even think to sit, but simply stood watching the beautiful dance in the moonlight. She hardly noticed the tears in the leopardess eye, but she did see the emotion in the dance.
She was pulled instantly from her trance when the leopardess stopped and faced her. Siti was actually startled by her rather abrupt stop, but she calmed quickly as the leopardess began to speak.
Siti smiled and approached the female slowly, "Sorry about startling you. I was watching, it did not mean to pry. It was very nice though, amazing. What were you doing? I have never seen anything like that and I have been traveling a lot."
Siti shook out her fur a bit before sitting down on the cool earth, hoping to learn more about what it was the leopardess had been doing.

It only took a moment for Oboé to overcome her surprise. When she did, she smiled at the approaching lioness (who seemed friendly), and sat down not very far from her.
"It's alright~." Oboé drawled, waving a paw carelessly. "I'm used to people watching." she said slyly, a twinkle in her eye. Though it had been a long while since someone had seen her dance...She wondered if she had been rusty?
Oboé was surprised by the next question the lioness asked. For a moment, she blinked slowly, not knowing how to answer. "I was dancing." she said. How could someone have never seen dancing before? It was shocking to Oboé. She'd been around dancers all her life. "Did you like it?" she asked, flashing a grin. Even though it had been some time since she'd last dance, the happy feeling of being able to entertain another was welling up inside of her.

Siti was happy when the leopardess sat, she was eager to learning more about her way of moving. She was surprised to hear that she was used to being watched and Siti figured that meant she did it often.
"Dancing?"
Siti looked to the lioness after trying the foreign word out for herself. She did not think the word was fitting for such beautiful movement. She looked at the smiling leopardess and quickly answer the question she asked.
"Yes, I think your dancing is very beautiful, like the sunrise in a way. Is it possible for me to do this dancing thing too. It looks like much fun ..."
Siti had wanted to adress the leopardess by name, but just then realized she did not ask her name, therefore her words hung in mid air, her sentence left unfinished.
"I was so caught up in my excitement that I rudely forgot to ask your name. It would be awkward to think of you as the one who was dancing all the time."
Siti smiled kindly and hoped the leopardess would excuse her rudeness.

Oboé grinned.
"You can learn," she said, nodding slowly. "But it takes much dedication; much practice." Oboé sighed at the memories of constant training. Back when she was young it was sleep, eat, dance. And that was all, until she got very good. "If you desire it, it is possible." Oboé continued sagely. "But I'm not sure who would teach you. I'm afraid I'm...A bit out of practice." she laughed.
Oh, they hadn't introduced themselves? It had been such a strange meeting that Oboé herself had forgotten.
"Think nothing of it." Oboé said, smiling lazily. "I'm Oboé," she said, stretching down into an elegant bow. She stood back up. "And may I ask who you are?"

Siti brightened up at the mention of being able to learn, but then looked rather distraught at the idea of dedication and practice. Right now she was dedicated to her travels and finding a pride. It did not seem as though she would have the time to learn to dance. At the mention of a teacher, Siti looked confused, she knew of no one esle who could dance but the leopardess. She would hardly considered the leopardess out of practice, but who was she to say. This was the first time she has ever seen dancing.
The leopardess introduced herself and Siti thought she had a rather nice name and wondered what the name itself meant. "Oboe'," she said, "That is a very nice name."
"My name is Nabila Siti, Siti for short," she said answering Oboe' question.
Siti looked at Oboe' and smiled, "I do not think that you are out of practice, more awe inspiring in my opinion. I do not time to really dedicate myself to dancing, but I would like to learn a couple dances. I would most certainly practice any chance I got. As for a teacher, I do not know anyone else who dances but you. Would you not be willing to teach me even just a little?"
Siti hoped she was not being to forward, as she had only just met Oboe', but in Siti's opinion she was a wonderful dancer and Siti really wanted to learn from her. Who knew when she would come across another feline who could dance, after all she had yet to meet another lion who could climb.

"Siti~!" Oboé repeated with a grin. "What a lovely name!" She scratched at the dirt beneath her as if to emphasize how pleased she was with the name. She lifted and dropped her tail a few times, listening to the lioness. She was a very calm, kind sort. She didn't seem judgmental of others, which Oboé admired.
Oboé laughed when Siti said she didn't think she was out of practice. "Unfortunately," Oboé sighed, her laughter dying down. "I am quite out of practice. It's been some time since I've danced." Oboé's mind wandered once again back to how her life used to be. But not wishing to dwell on the past, especially in front of a new acquaintance, she shrugged it off.
"I..." Oboé began, blinking slowly. She paused for a moment to think. What could she teach someone about dancing? She'd never taught someone anything she knew before. How did one go about teaching another to dance?
"I suppose I could...Teach you a move or two." she said, biting her lip as she thought. She stood up and shook the dust from her pelt, golden ornaments sparkling and jingling in the evening sun. She sighed and tried to pick out a few moves to teach the lioness. She needed to teach her easy moves; beginner moves. But Oboé was having trouble remembering them. It has been quite some time since she was a cub and had such moves imprinted into her mind. Then, slowly, it began to come back to her.
"Take your right paw," she said, stretching out each word as she strained her memory. "and lift it, like this..." She lifted her paw into the air, moving it upwards as a feather in the wind. "Then, slam it onto the ground." she said, and slammed her paw onto the ground. "Hold it stiff; don't move any other part of your body while doing this, either." Oboé was speaking faster now as the long-forgotten knowledge was creeping back into her mind.

Siti could feel her skin flush beneath her skin flush, as the compliment on her name, "Thank you very much, I do so love my name."
She looked a little perplexed at Oboe' insistance that she was out of practice, but this was the first time Siti had seen dancing, so how was she to know. She just knew that the dancing was beautiful and Siti had enjoyed watching it.
Siti smiled when Oboe agree to teach her a bit. She was excited. It was not everyday one got to try dancing. Well not for Siti anyway. She quickly got up and moved in front of Oboe' to watch what she was doing. She watched as she was shown what to do, then Siti tried it herself.
She took her paw and lifted it, as Oboe' had shown smiling as she did so, then she slammed her paw down, but just a little bit to hard causing her to wince a bit. Siti knew Oboe' said to stay still and she had made her body rather rigid, but it felt awkward and Siti tail did not see to want to coorperate.
"This isn't so easy," said Siti, "could you show me again?"

At the sight of another dancing to the moves Oboé knew and had taught, Oboé felt a strange emptiness getting filled inside of her. She stared at Siti, a relaxed smile on her face, and watched her attempt at the dance.
"Oh~," Oboé sighed, putting a paw up to her mouth to hide her laughter. Well, the poor lioness couldn't help but to dance badly at first. After all, she had never even heard of dancing before then.
"Alright, one more time. Watch closely," Oboé instructed sagely. She once more displayed the careful, steady move of her arms. When she finished, she sighed happily, staring back at the brown and white lioness. "There, you see?" It was a very easy dance move. Oboé was sure that the lioness would get it, even if it took her a few tries. She seemed quite smart.

Siti watched as Oboe' showed her the dance move again. She paid attention to how Oboe' held and positioned her body. She nodded when Oboe' asked her if she saw and then she made to try again.
Siti's movements were careful and precise the second time moving her arms as Oboe' had show and keeping her body stiff. She was proud of herself when she accomplished the move, even if it was not to Oboe' level of grace.
Siti practiced the move several more times delighted at the fact that she was dancing, sort of. She looked to Oboe' and smiled as she finished the move again doing it more and more smoothly with each time.
She stopped and looked at her new 'teacher', "How was that? Was it good enough to learn the next move," asked Siti excitedly.

Oboé winced her eyes closed with a nervous grin and flicked her tail in embarrassment.
"That was excellent," Oboé admitted. "but dancing is really...Well..." She sighed and stuck out her lower lip in thought. She tapped her paw against the ground, then the other, then stared up in a daze at the clouds for a while."Someone can teach you to dance," Oboé said suddenly, breaking the silence. "But true dancing is learned on your own." Then she looked at Siti and smiled gently. It was a hard thing to teach.
Sure, Oboé had been taught ever since she was a cub how to dance. Move after move was imprinted on her mind forever. But as she got older, she began to dance her own moves to her own music, eventually straying away from the teachings all together.
The sun drifted lower in the sky and Oboé squinted her eyes at its light.
"If you really wish to dance," Oboé began uncertainly. "Then I have no doubt you'll be able to all on your own." She lied down in the dirt and smiled at Siti.

Siti smiled at Oboe, "If you say so," she said looking at Oboe. She hoped she would be able to learn on her own and wondered if climbing was like dancing. It struck up an idea in Siti's mind and Oboe's words of encouragement inspired her.
"I am glad you think I will be able to learn. I think it might not be to great, but since I got a wonderful show from you I want to put on a show for you."
Siti figured it might be hilarious but she would try her best. She would simply dance about the things she was best at. It would be Siti's Dance.
Siti moved further away, but not to far and than bowed down before beginning her dance for Oboe. She knew it would not be perfect but she would try her best.
Siti crouched down and moved her body back up imitating the way she started up a tree. She imitated herself climbing quickly as she moved across the jungle floor. Next came her balancing gracefully, as she pretended to move through the branches.
Siti was becoming totally absorbed in the wonderfully feeling of movement and feeling less worried.
She leaped through the air stretching her body out, showing how she came down from the trees. She then crouched down low to the ground and pretended to stalk you longer more languid movement and moving very slowly. She finished with another leap before turning and bowing to Oboe'. She knew some parts were probably slightly fumbled as she was not actually in a tree, but she did not mind and she hoped Oboe' had enjoyed it.
She hardly realized the sun was getting lower in the sky.

A huge grin found its way onto Oboé's face and it didn't leave even after the lioness Siti had stopped "dancing". Oboé was very amused by Siti's dance. Siti was confident in herself and seemed to know that life is for living and one must to what one can while one is alive. Oboé respected that. It was similar to her view on life.
"That was a lovely dance." Oboé laughed. "The light of the setting sun added to it and made the whole thing very..." Oboé glanced at the dimming sky, searching for the right word. "...Inspiring." she said decidedly after a moment. "And see? You did not need me to teach you at all." she said, smiling.
