Alot of people in my t-bone section says that using the trigger instead of going to 6th position messes up the tone. Is that true??

I've been using trigger for 6th and 7th but I cant see a difference...but they say they do.

well it DOES mess with your tone ever so slightly, but with a good ear and practice the tone will become relitively the same and sometimes better. But for actually playing IN THE BAND i would recomend reaching out there for 6th and 7th... Practice on those notes when you get home... mrgreen

If you are talented and/or hard-working, you should be able to do both. biggrin

Listen, and remember how a "C" or "B" or any other note on the trigger sounds on the slide, practice by playing the notes in 6th/7th position. Then replicate the tone on the trigger.

If you are having problems with other notes in the trigger, that's not good. some notes, especially lower notes, can only be played with the trigger. So get comfortable with both.
