These paws were tired, and one in particular bothered her a lot since the battle, but she tried her best to hide it. Mzaa now had a home, she didn't want to be treated differently, or looked down upon because she was injured, she tried her best not to limp, to hide the aching pain in her leg. It pained her, immensely, but none the less, she still went out everyday looking for prey to hunt, and bring back to the pride.
Today though she had a rather nasty encounter with a zebra that managed to kick right when she was going to strike. It hit her foreleg, the pained one, and sent a shot of pain down her spine as the zebra had sped off.
Flicking her tail Mzaa limped back to the sand dunes, onto her slate and curled up beneath the sun.

During his time here, he'd had time to think and in thinking it made him so very depressed as all he ever thought about was his mother. His mother was probably on the other side...hating him so much for his betrayal...but.... ...but...
As he lay there underneath a large rock that shot out from the sand, offering some shade underneath he couldn't help but notice the female laying on the slate opposite. Was she limping? Was she hurt? A curious, concerned flicker went through him...the concern one would only feel for another member of their 'pride' and slowly moved from his shadey spot. Keeping his dark blue eyes on her.
"Uhmmm....hello?" He called out curiously.

As she heard a voice Mzaa put on the best mask over her pain and hid it in her smile. As she turned she saw a large form, male, friendly though it seemed. Truth be told Mzaa did not know if she could differentiate between traditionalists and her new pride members, her new family, but she remembered faces well, eyes well, and she knew this male was of no threat, perhaps even a friend, which would be lovely on a day like this, or any day really.
"Hello," she said with a smile, flicking her tail, standing, composing herself to meet him with pride in her heart, but also respect for him as well. "I'm Karana'Mzaana friend," she said with a bow of her head to him slightly so.
"Are you enjoying the sun today as well?" she asked, trying to keep the conversation away from herself in case he had seen her limp. She just wanted to be strong, and did not want to be deemed weak.

The lion....well he didn't exactly know how to react, blinking as she tried to mask her pain he made a questioning face that arched one brow and made one of his eyes half lidded. Standing there like a mountain made of muscle and crimson fur as he watched the female with a look of concern and confusion.
"Uhmm...hey..." He replied in a less than formal manner, bowing his own head before taking a small breath.
Why was she trying to spark a conversation about something else? Wasn't she aware she was hurt? Did she have a problem with her threshold or something? With a small flick of his head to move the fringe of his mane out of the line of his vision, he took a step forward and cleared his throat softly as her question.
"I'm enjoying the sun fine, but...doesn't your paw hurt, miss?"

Mzaa's ears fell back when he had caught on, and she looked to the ground. She didn't say anything right away, his form was large, towering even, though his voice was softer and not as harsh as others might suppose from a first glance. Assumptions were most if not all the time incorrect, just as now.
"It'll be fine," in other words, she wanted to ignore it, she knew it was there, it hurt her, she felt it rise through her nerves and pinch at her when it didn't ache, but it was obvious she wanted to conceal it.
"I don't want others to know...to think..I'm weak," she said finally, she looked up, her eyes meeting his, uncertainty in her eyes. She didn't want to be deemed weak, she didn't want to be sent from her new home.

Damu couldn't help but roll his eyes slightly, how many times he'd heard those words before he could count by the strangs of fur in his mane and he shook his head slightly as he approached another step or two towards the female. Briefly testing her name in his mind to make sure he hadn't forgotten it already, he moved till he was about a foot or so away from the rock she lay on.
"Look." He started. "Miss Karana, don't you think it'd be much better to tell someone about your paw than let it go unmended and make it worse?"
There was an almost cublike curiousity to his voice, large blue orbs blinking slowly as he watched her closely. Still standing there large as life, an ex-Traditionalist that was more than a disapointment to his mother and now here with this strange female telling her she should see to her paw.

"I don't know," she said simply, though it was much more complicated then that. "I've never really had a home before, before all of this, I don't want to have this place, a home of my own finally." a home she remembered she had of course, "and be told I am weak...I don't want No, Kidondo or anyone else to think I'm just a weight upon another's shoulders," she wanted to prove she was strong by pulling through this, even if it was hard to walk everyone morning or night from her den out this way in search of prey.
"What would you do, if I was you and you were me?" she asked curious, would he do the same, or chose anther way?

Despite being brought up with the traditionalists, much to his mother's dismay he'd grown up with the patience and sweet temperment Firekin were not meant to have...at all...but he had it. The lion listened, ears perked atop the large ammount of fur he had inherited as all male lions do before she finished and asked what he would do. ...What WOULD he do? He'd always be a disapointment, he knew that but he didn't really care because he was happy being the way he was.
"Well I'm sure you'd be a lot more fuzzier." He said, trying to make a joke as he laughed softly at himself before clearing his throat and trying to be serious for once. "No, but I think that if I was in your position I'd go tell someone that could help...better you be at your peak of health than with something that could hinder you after all."

Mzaa couldn't help but cough out a laugh at his statement, smiling her silver eyes looked at his blue hues and she couldn't help but feel a little lighter, a little happier even from such a simple joke. She had to admit, imagining herself with a mane was hilarious, and..strange.
"Who should I go see then?" she didn't want it to become worse, though she didn't want to admit she was still hurt from the takeover either. "Is there someone here who can help?" Mzaa had heard of healers, even immortals that could heal, but she did not know if anything like that was near, perhaps there was something she could do, eat, for it?
Mzaa tried to stand, so that perhaps if he knew where to go she could follow, but it hurt to put weight on it, and she sat back down again with a slight hiss in her throat from the pain, she wouldn't be able to put pressure on it at all today.

He made her laugh...it was a cough and a laugh but it was a laugh none the less and it made him beam a big smile, atleast he was good at something! When he was about to say who she chould see he noticed her trying to put weight on her paw, furrowing his brows slightly before he moved to sidle up beside her on the rock. Offering a small smile he moved closer and lowered himself slightly.
"Put your bad paw on my back and I'll help you find someone." He said, offering his support to her even though they'd just met. That's what pride member's did right? Help one another? It was then that he knew he'd forgotten something quite essential.
"Oh! I'm Damu by the way."

Mzaa watched as Damu came to her side and she blinked but with a smile, he seemed quite kind, and for that she was quite grateful. Flicking her tail she smiled and gave a nod, "Thank you, though it might be too late in the day to venture to find someone to help today," perhaps he could help her to get to her den.
With the mention of his name she smiled slightly embarrassed a slight blush to her cheeks, she had forgotten to ask his name! "Its very nice to meet you Damu," in truth she was immensely glad to meet him.
She leaned against him and did as he said and it was much easier keeping the weight off from her paw, "Do you think you could help me get to my den Damu? Tomorrow then, if your not busy..we could try to find someone?"

Damu smiled, a big friendly smile that split his white maw in two as he stood up and made sure her paw was still on his back and that she was alright. Not standing up all the way being the size that he was, but enough to make it comfortable for both of them to walk in this odd position.
He listened to her, ears perking forward atop his large mane before he nodded softly to her offer.
"Sure! I don't see any problem in that." He said in a rather cheerful manner. "Just tell me the directions while we go."
All this said and he slowly started to walk off, keeping at a slow pace for her to keep up with her paw.

"Just that way, its not too far off," Mzaa said making a motion with her head, keeping in step with Damu. To meet someone as kind as Damu, helpful as him was a great thing indeed, and she was thankful for venturing out today, even if her paw did hurt her.
She'd never forget hsi kindness, ever.
"Thank you Damu, so much," she said softly with a smil, silver eyes peeking at his.

Damu smiled towards her, his own dark blue eyes twinkling slightly in the light. "No problem Karana."
The lion lead the way to the females den, moving inside for her to not have to trek her bad paw in too much before moving himself outside and offering a smile her way. He was just a a big cub wasn't he?
"So I'll see you tommorow then?"

Mzaa's eyes met his and she smiled, even with the pain in her paw, it didn't seem to matter when she realized she had made such a great friend today in Damu. As they walked inside her den, and he removed himself, (such a gentleman wasn't he?), she settled herself down on the den's floor and rested her head on her paws.
As he caleld in, she peered out, smiled, and nodded her head, "Yes, I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow Damu," sincerity in her voice.
She elt her eyes close then, letting herself fall into rest, she'd need her rest for wherever they needed to go tomorrow, and she was looking forward to it.
