The sun shone down on the ruins, casting them in a glorious light as it rose. The stones warmed up, shedding their blue hues of night for the browns and golds of the day. It was a wonderful sight, beheld by a lucky few in a world filled with many.
Kingu'jua watched from a high vantage point as the sun rose. The ruins were more than just a breathtaking sight, they were home. Breathing in the warming air, the lion closed his eyes, smiling. Here and there, he saw lions of the pride waking, moving about the ruins. But to them, they weren't just ruins. They were a name source, as well as shelter.
It made him proud to be of the En Gedi.
And then he woke up to the real sunrise, on the savanna of an area he didn't know. The male sighed, rising from his sleeping spot. He had lions to find, particularly the ones the strange green hare had told him of. Letting out a yawn, he began to walk.

The sunrise illuminated Eyal's coat he walked along the the dusty Savanna. He had been gone for months now. Searching for little ones to bring back to the pride. He had already mated with a female and now bore the scars of a waterbuck on his flank and his shoulder, removing a small second of his tattoo. They were marks that surely would surprise any that knew him from his Pride.
He pauses when he looked up, squinting. There in the distance was a familiar coat and mane. It couldn't be... Could it? The sage Kingu? He had left before Eyal and he had been sad to see him go. A smile actually touched the tired Warrior Chief's face before he let out a loud roar, calling to his old friend. The smile was gone as soon as it had came but Eyal's green eyes glowed with friendly intent. "Kingu'jua!" He called proudly, "I didn't expect to run into you out here."

((Psst, Kingu's a sage xd ))
The sage turned and looked, ears flicking. Now that was a voice he knew... He smiled, turning and returning the call. "Eyal! What a surprise to see you out here!" He went over, greeting the pale yellow lion. "What brings you so far south? Though it IS good to see a familiar face! And I'm glad you survived that abominable desert." Not that it was hard, if one stuck to the rivers. But the humans had been a challenge...

(;D *totally knew that and stuff* XD I fixed it! Thanks)
Eyal gives a soft chuckle and shook his red mane. "I was granted permission from King Rotem," He states formally, "to go in search of females and mate with them. I'm bringing the cubs back to our pride to increase its population. Ah that desert was a test of strength." He agrees. He ended up traveling at night and ignored the rivers. Dangerous but it was his way. The more danger the more a test of power.
"What are you doing out here?" He questions, flickering his tail. "I don't believe I ever found out why you left."

Kingu looked into the distance, more at random. "I left to find new members, new blood..." He smiled, considering the hare's words. "A pride needs more than just cubs to survive... It needs new couples, too, new lions..." He sighed, watching a bird fly by. After a moment, it joined a flock. "Otherwise, the blood may narrow, which kills the pride." He looked back, tilting his head. "I left before to seek more knowledge. I left again to find others."

"So we're on the same mission but in different ways." He responds licking at his wounded shoulder. "I know that but I'm doing it my way, Kingu'jua... This is the only way I know how to make sure the members are strong and dedicated." He hesitates, "Have you found what you're after yet? The knowledge you seek? Or more members of the pride?"

He shrugged, smiling. "To each their own method, eh?" He stretched out a leg, feeling his joints pop. "Make sure those girls are strong themselves, too, then. But don't find anything... Green..." He wasn't about to forget that hare. A green hare... Imagine that...
An ear flicked amid the deep brown mane. "All I've found was a riddle..." He stopped before laughing. "Riddle of the hare..." Sighing, he turned his gaze to a passing cloud. "I'll find others eventually. There's plenty of lions that seek a home."

Eyal watches the older lion then shakes his head. "The girls will be strong and so will the cubs. I will make sure they carry on the warrior blood. Green?" His head tilted before he snorted. "I would not have a green child. Quite a few days I came across a male lion with a green mane! He and I didn't get a long at all." Not that it was easy to get along with Eyal in the first place. It had actually been his fault to start with.
"A green... hare..." He repeated staring in confusion. "What green hare was this? What is his riddle to you?" He glances out to see what the sage is looking at but sees nothing of interest. "I suppose there are...but I've never met any."

Kingu nodded, mane falling slightly in his face. He paused, shaking it out, then looked at Eyal. "I have to say, it's odd to see lions that blend in with the greenery... But I hear there's pink and purple lions, too... And blue..." He had to make a face, finding such a thing... Abominable. An affront to the natural order. Were all lions of the south capable of turning out like birds?
"Yes, a green hare... I think it was a she... And it told me to find the watering hole that looks south to the great mountain and north to the field of bone..." He shook his head, growling in slight frustration. "I've yet to FIND this watering hole. Everything is mountains and savanna down here, and I don't recognize a single one!" He hadn't come south in his first journey. Instead, he'd traveled due west across the Sahara, sticking to the north coast. He'd certainly seen many things, that was for sure.

Eyal couldn't hide his appalled face or disgust. "Pink and purple?! That's... hideous! How could such things survive? I can foresee the Gods being whatever color they desire but mere mortals? Are you certain they weren't Gods in disguise?" He inquires.
"Strange... Perhaps the hare was a trickster in his own right?" He closed his eyes, thinking. "Mm... Perhaps... you should seek aid? A totem to guide your way? Have you questioned the birds about such a place? Maybe they will aid you."

"I know, it's an affront to the very natural order of things!" He shook his head, looking at a flowering bush. The bright pink flowers made him scowl. "I doubt they were gods, though. There's far too many of them. Some of them are children of others from long lines of strange and unnatural colors." He hefted a sigh, frowning. "It's almost like finding a good, normal colored lion is going to be a needle in a haystack." His time spent with humans hadn't gone without a mark. He'd picked up a few of their strange ways of talking.
Kingu could only shrug helplessly. "Maybe... Though I'm pretty sure it was a she.. I may not be a hare, but I know what a male hare should have and a female shouldn't..." He shook his head, eyes squeezed shut. "Oh, look at us, talking about hare genders! I may have to do that, find a bird to help me... That or just wander until I find the right watering hole."

"Many? I'm worried to think of such a thing..." He pauses and tilts his head. "A what in a what?" He asks raising his eyebrows and looking confused. Kingu was strange to him sometimes. Very strange.
He chuckles slightly. "Yes, well... some conversations are strange in themselves. As for the watering hole, keep moving. I'm sure you'll come to one eventually. Follow the herds. Where there are many animals there is a lot of water."

He'd forgotten, yet again, that the others didn't know the expressions of humans. "Needle in a haystack. It's a human thing. I don't know HOW they lose a needle in the stack, though..."
Looking at Eyal, Kingu nodded. "That's very true... But I'll have to make sure it's not a river first. Whole herds of gnus have crossed those things in numbers so great... Well, it's enough to make any lion feel as if he's just one in a billion." The numbers honestly scared him sometimes.

"You spent time with humans?" He questions giving him a strange look, as if merely knowing their words had an adverse effect on Kingu. He takes a few steps back to observe him.
Eyal shook out his mane and smirked at his old friend. "Ah, true... that would be troublesome. You'd be back where you started and that is a lot of gnus. Still... I haven't seen a herd for a while so whatever you come across..." He shrugs. "It can't hurt to question or follow."

"Well, not WITH them. I just, you know... Lurked in some villages, listened in at night..." He motioned with his paw. "Nothing serious. Nobody saw me, at least, or I'd have joined a few lions I saw stretched out on wracks."
Kingu shrugged a bit, then stretched out. "I'll find it eventually. Who knows, I may end up collecting a motley crew of lions seeking a new home in the process." He smiled, tail curling into a ring. "There's plenty of lions seeking a new haven somewhere."
