Dawn had come and it had gone as Noon came and the sun hung high in the sky. A dark colored mare had escaped the heat into the dark forests that seemed to line the valley's base and close to the mountains. Feeling the coolness of the trees her coat flickered expelling the heat that had laid upon it welcoming the coolness. Shaking her head, her eyes having been closed all this time, the mare stopped and turned her face back toward the heat. Wow, for near summer's end it sure was warm out. Milky white orbs finally opened to stare blankly behind her, her mind caught in the abyss of darkness.

"I wish it were winter, then I wouldn't have to hide in these trees." The mare sighed turning forward to walk carefully, her front hooves making careful sweeping motions.

She walked slowly through the trees, her hooves bumping into things that she would have to avoid before she would run smack into them. Though what she hadn't counted on were a pair of bushes that she couldn't touch, but their branches reach out and snag her curly tail. Coming to a sudden halt, her head turned back as she tried getting her tail out of the branches. No good, oh just perfect, it was just want she needed, to get herself caught up in a bush. Tail flicking to the side, the strands getting even the more tangled.

"Oh shesh, let go." The mare muttered at the bush, if anyone could have seen her it would have been a comical sight. "Oh let go, let go, let go."

Sighing after a couple moment she hung her head, not really wanting to call out for help. Who would hear her anyways, the nearest soquili was miles away for sure. She was more the likely alone here and would possibly remain alone until someone just happened to come along... Yea right, she didn't think many traveled this way then again she wasn't familiar to these lands and all the trees were starting to get to her...

Cyn Generis was a wanderer by nature, charged with the care of those who required his aid. He rarely remained in one place and as a consequence he was difficult to locate. That being said, if an individual required his assistance then more often than not he would be there in an instant. His students had discovered this very quickly as they had roamed the lands. If they had found themselves in conflict or at a loss, he would generally appear in his traditional, bumbling fashion to quieten their unrest. After they had recovered he would idly chat as he 'wandered'...ultimately leading them to safety.

However, today was not one of those days. The spirits had not called for his assistance in regards to his students - instead their whispers had been in regards to something else. They had remained vague, but their insistance was difficult to ignore and he could do nothign else than surrender to their wants. Therefore it was unsurprising that he found himself wandering through the forest, his tail and mane becoming slightly heavier with each step as the foliage and vegetation clung to him. He would have it cleaned later, but really he was beginning to resemble a walking tree given his size.

Alas, his progress was reasonably steady as his 'pilot' directed him from the tip of his horn. The whispers were only those that he could hear, but they were so swift that he was capable of dodging even the most unexpected of obstacles. If a creature darted into his path, he could stop or dodge it...if there was a branch, he could duck. Despite his lack of sight he had certainly adapted and was ridiculously efficient with the aid of his unusual cohorts.

It wasn't long before said Angeni had reached the location that had been specified though. How he knew this was not because a spirit had yelled 'halt' in his mind, rather it had been the order of the spider on his horn. He did of course obey, flicking his ears as he listened to his little crew discuss the situation for a few moments. It seemed after a short conversation they had finalised their decision and ordered him to move forward again.

With a quiet snort, he obeyed and listened carefully to the now incredibly precise directions. Approaching the rear end of the mare, he was once again told to halt. He was completely unaware of the identity of the creature beside him but it was irrelevant, if he was needed so be it.

"Okay, very gently lower your head..." the spider ordered into his ear. "Then slide your horn in there, and...lift!"

It was with a jerk of his head that the Angeni forced the bush apart, easily slicing away the leaves that had clung to one side of the mare's tail. The bush now seemed somewhat naked, but hopefully this would granted her the necessary space to move away...

Her head lifted as the sounds of another reached them. Twitching from side to side, she listened trying to see where it was coming from. An ear turning back her head turned toward where she had come from and to where her tail had gotten caught up. If she had been anyone else, she would have just torn her way tail a bit to get out of the bush, but she wasn't that kind of mare. Hear tilting, her nostrils flare a little taking in the scent of something, or someone behind her.

"H.." She had started before she felt her tail being tugged at and soon freed as whatever it was behind her pulled the branches away. Milky eyes blinking a couple times as she stepped away from where she had been standing. "Thank you?" she said though came out as a question as to what had freed her from said bush.

Stepping away she turned around as if to look at her ‘helper‘ though that wasn‘t really the right word to say, no, there was a better one, but she couldn‘t really think of it. Head tilting she wondered who this silent one was, though it hadn‘t uttered a word, she had thought she had heard something else, but it was so faint it was possibly only the winds or her imagination.

“Might I inquire of one‘s name?” she asked tilting her head, her mane shifting over her dark colored neck. “And if one knows of a way past these bushes that seem to always be reaching for things they can‘t have?”

Perhaps 'seeking' would have been a more appropriate word. One who was blind could still seek out another individual through various senses. The necessity to see was a debatable matter for some. Cyn Generis had long since cast his sight away in favour of darkness, he had done so for a number of reasons. His situation was complex but not once had he ever doubted or loathed his decisions. He had no regret for his choices, he was satisified with each one.

So he couldn't see - he had other methods of navigating his way through obstacles and awkward terrain. He used instinct on certain occasions, but on others he used the aid of his miniature crew. Almost completely undetectable and rarely heard, his spiders were rarely noticed. As a result they were never really interrupted either. Their job was an easy one and without distraction they performed it admirably. Without them there was no doubt he would have encountered a lot more issues.

Nevertheless as she freed herself and placed distance between them, the Angeni lifted his head again and shifted his head to her direction. Ears pivoting at the sound of her voice, he was given a very brief assurance that she was in good health via his crew. He would take their word for it, though the clarity of her voice already confirmed as much. Despite her obvious discomfort, she had recovered swiftly and even had the manners to attempt to converse.

That was rare.

"They call me Cyn Generis," he responded at last, a smile touching his lips though it would remain unseen. "As to navigating these parts of the wood and the obstacles it presents - I do have means of doing so...though they might be unconventional."

Her head tilted to one side a little as she listened to the stallion that was once behind her, speak his name. Cyn Generis, she would have to remember that name with all the others that she had met in these first few days that she came to the southern lands. An ear twitched as he mentioned that his ways of navigating the lands like this weren't very heard of, in her mind's eye. Letting her tail flick behind her she remained silent for a time collecting her thoughts.

"My name's Alaska." She bowed her head gently and minding to not get her mane stuck in anything. "One would think that any unconventional was perhaps a good thing given the person and situation." Ok she was confusing herself, "But you are lucky to have something that can guide you through passages most treacherous."

She had no such luxury as she had found out all too often as she walked into things. Got snagged on other things and well, would turn out to be just one large mess of a mare. Shaking her head she cleared her thoughts to pay attention to Cyn, he seemed kind enough, if he had been any other she would surely not have been there now.

The spiders within his hair seemed to exchange glances at the mare's words. It appeared she hadn't just confused herself with her addressal, but had also confused the stallion and his companions before her. The Uni-Angeni was aware that this was unintentional but it didn't make it any easier for him to translate. Thus he stood in silence for the time being, mulling over the appropriate manner in which to return her words. Unfortunately even with the time he granted himself to mull things over he still couldn't come up with a suitable level of understanding. Really, what on earth had she meant?

Shaking his head, he snorted the hair away from his nose and came to rest his weight on his other hoof. Perhaps it would be more desirable if the Angeni was capable of being honest... clearly her imagination had gotten the better of her for a split second and as a result she hadn't the slightest idea what she was talking about. He didn't blame her, he had been terribly vague in reference to his guides...

"Forgive me for my inability to understand your words," he offered at last, clearing his throat. "I do not comprehend what you mean by the 'person and situation'...However if it helps to eleviate the confusion, the methods I speak of are Spiders," he finished with a slight smile. Most creatures did have familiars, made use of ferrets and birds; or other such creations. However Cyn much preferred those noble creatures that had protected him and kept him hidden for so many years. They were decidedly more subtle anyway and rarely interrupted his conversations like he had witnessed in the case of other Soquili.
