ok.. me and my friend were talkin about this in math today. we couldnt deside who was better. cause geddy is fast s**t picking, but envys flea on the slappin, and flea doesnt play to his full potential in RHCP. my friend thinks that Geddy is better, but Flea can pull off the Circumstances bassline without thinking.
So, what do you all think?????

Each bassist has theyre own style, so technically, you couldnt compare any basist to another.

Ask a legitimate question and we wouldn't be so tough. There's no point in comparing two bassists with completely different styles.

Thats one of the worst questions you can ask someone like me...theyre both equally amazing,,,,,,,i prefer none over the other....Rush and RHCP are 2 of my favorite bands

I agree, they arent similar enough as bassists to really compare. Different eras of music, different genres, different play styles. I think this question would boil down to "Who do you like more? RHCP or Rush?"

How about lookin up Get up and Jump by the RHCP, see if you can plaay that s**t one that bass! Flea Created his own style of playing!!! Lee just sits thir and plays, Flea is jumping around the stage. Geddy Lee looks like Slash, and i think Slash is Talentless. Flea also loves music so much that he dosnt play bass just to show off how good he is, he already proved that. Now he plays to make music, his recent album wasnt much for bass lines. But i bet most of you still had trouble playing them. Head into the past of the RHCP. Like Nobody wired like me, Higher Ground, Areoplane, Pretty Little Ditty, Get up and Jump!! I could go on forever, but Flea is the best, Geddy Lee is no where close, Victor Wooten and Flea are the best of all time. But Victor's type of music is not the most popular kind. Flea is my Insperation, and the best of all time. I will not have him loose to Geddy lee, who seemes to blow your mind doing nothing, being fast WWOOOO, i can be fast, and i bet i am faster then most people here. But being talented at the ENTIRE BASS that is Flea, Faster then Geddy Lee and Pops and Slaps like a God. YOU CANT COMPARE THEM!!! FLEA IS A GOD COMPARE TO GEDDY LEE!!!!

wow.
i cant say ne thing to that, waren. you made some crazy, horrid claims up there.... makes me sad that someone can be so... close minded. a true musician embraces all (or at least most) music. you cant call yourself... anything if you believe that slapping makes a bass player good. a hell of a lot of people HATE the slap sound.

If you call being closed minded just not likeing one bass player over another then i'm closed minded. I did make some s**t up thir. I really dont care anymore. I am pretty sure that most of you couldnt understand exatally what i meant. I think Poping and Slapping is an amazing sound. The new Generation of Bass Players , (or at least were i am from) The Power of Pop and Slap, or anything else that would require a Bass Player to use his creative juices is gone. I Cant seem to find any bass players that have musical Talent Thats not saying thir isnt. Thats why i feel so strongly about Having this s**t I think Geddy Lee should be expanding his ability to play the bass. I know he sings and plays piano and bass. But so do other people. He makes his living making music. But being renowned for how good of a bass player he is, i think he should expand. If Geddy Lee was playing any other style of music then what he is now...eh i dont think it would be so pretty.
