Sin's Velvet Diary. Only she should be posting in here.
April 6th- With skill and fine planning, Lusiphur has vaulted his way into childhood. Such skills could easily get one in trouble, so you better keep your eyes on him.
Nov 22- He changed within the night, but it wasn't until he twitched his finely hair little legs that the truth became know. Quite a 'curious' little one he is.
Sept 29th- A creature of the night... kind and giving and vicious when the time calls for it. Always one to happily fall back into the background, despite the intermingled webs you weave through the lives of others. No matter how brightly the other threads may shine, it's the ones in the background that hold everything together. ~~~~~~~

Name: Lusiphur Gender: Male Size: 9 inches Born: Nov 22 Personality: Dark, intellegent, and with an eye for the occult and a slightly morbid streak. He enjoys the company of others, but in most cases would prefer to watch, as opposed to interact. He'll one day grow to be quite the little manipulator, but for now he simply takes joy in sharing his 'dark' interests. (Ahem... not goth or angsty, simply open to that dark sides of the spectrum)
Skills: Web weaving: 4/10 Venom: 4/10 (Just as it suggests, a poison. Right now it will simply paralyse for a brief time, but with training, one day it could become very lethal)
Status: Social: Web-weaver Energy: Calm and collected Ability: Wittyness, occult Mental: Erradication expert (King of the knowledge surrounding 'ways to die' XD)

Thoughts on Others
11.26.05 My dear Lusiphur has met Carl Arnaud Boaz Austin (Carl for short; he's a harpy eagle), and Trea (a mouse). I don't know if he simply doesn't want to tell me what he thinks (in any fashion), or if he simply doesn't know what to think yet...then again, he cannot speak yet, so it's not a wonder.
01.05.06 Luisphur met a young-looking...squirrel? I believe he was. That was quite a fright! I do hope the poor dear will be alright...Lusiphur on the other hand, seems quite...nervous about it since the incident ended...he didn't eat his bedtime snack.

Home Environment and Caretaker
Sin Velez is a fairly young daemon of questionable origin; she ranges anywhere from twenty to twenty-seven years old. You could ask her, but it's not usual information she gives to someone she just met. Her one and only valuable 'otherworldly' skill is that she can control shadows to a degree.
Granted, what control she does have is very nearly perfect, but her range of control is not. She has to practice every day for at least one hour to keep her skills up and going; falling out of practice for a week or longer can be very damaging to her.
Nevertheless, rarely is she called upon as a daemon to do anything, so usually she just lives out her life happily. She had changed careers and now teaches belly dance full time, so she can have plenty of time for those in her life.
Sin's home is fairly simple and traditional, save for all the plants she's got littering the walls (a kind of pain to keep dusted, however, she doesn't really mind). It all seems well and honest, save for one hidden detail. Beneath her table is a trapdoor that leads to an extensive no-sunlight basement.
This is actually where Sin lives, as attested to by the occasional mess; her only qualm is that it's hard to keep fresh green plants down there without too many blinding lights, so they stay on the main level.
A corner of the basement has been dedicated to Lusiphur and his needs; he can do whatever he likes there, it is in effect his room. Sin does not enter because she doesn't want to mess with the delicate webwork, nor does she wish to invade Lusiphur's privacy.

09.29.05
Well, today I opened the chest with the key I recieved from The Velveteen Toyshoppe, and much to my shock and surprise, I recieved a spider plush. I was very nearly filled with remorse and dismay, but who can judge such things anyhow? Even if there were people who could, I would not be one of the qualified few.
Still, after my initial reaction, I drew him out of the chest, and found that he (is it a he? It's kind of hard to tell when still in the plush stage...) was already growing on me. Iris informed me that it appeared to be a funnel web spider, so of course I took to researching them immediately.http://www.amonline.net.au/spiders/dangerous/funnelweb/ Funnel-web spiders, the most notorious members of our spider fauna, are found only in eastern Australia. There are at least 40 species currently placed in two genera: Hadronyche and Atrax. They are medium to large spiders, varying from 1-5 cm body length. Males are more lightly built than females. Body colour can vary from black to brown but the hard carapace covering the front part of the body is always sparsely haired and glossy. The lateral pair of spinning organs (spinnerets) at the end of the abdomen are longer and easily visible in Atrax spp. but often shorter in Hadronyche spp. Not all species are known to be dangerous, but several are renowned for their highly toxic and fast acting venom. The male of Atrax robustus, the Sydney Funnel-web Spider, is probably responsible for all recorded deaths (13) and many medically serious bites. This remarkable spider has become a part of Sydney's folklore and, although no deaths have been recorded since the introduction of an antivenom in 1981, it remains an icon of fear and fascination for Sydneysiders. I find it fascinating, and I wonder which particular species he might end up being, or if it will matter at all. I also found that they love plants (perfectly good and well, I kind of expected that from a spider...), particularly thick brush (perhaps he'll be an outdoorsy type maybe?), and that they very much appreciate water and humidity. Something about their webs not being able to hold up in dry heats...I'll remember never to take him to Hell with me when I visit.
There were other fascinating facts, but that's all you need to know for now. Still, he needs a name, and I've compiled a small list that I thought sounded interesting. I'll probably choose one as time draws closer.Possible Names Gidja - god of the moon (that's the first time I've ever heard of a god directly associated to the moon) Itya - dance Miri-Miri - high up Moonga - dark Nutyoon - fresh water Pangalia - eldest son I suppose that's all there is to tell for now. I think I'll read some Poison Elves to him before I go to bed - I hope it doesn't scar him too much. But I've heard that in the plush stage, you ought to treat them as you would want to be treated. And I know if I'm open to information but unable to move and otherwise unable to have any input, I'd want someone to read to me!
Which is why I've set him on my head right now as I'm writing this; maybe he'll recieve some type of input and would be able to start learning to read and write early? Oh goodness, I was never a good teacher at anything but dance...let's hope he doesn't end up like a red neck buffoon!

09.30.05
Well, we were up all night, and through some of the morning, but we did finally finish reading all of my Poison Elves material...volumes of slag, Crow! We took twenty minutes breaks here and there, and I went back over explaining some of the parts just to make sure that if he didn't understand anything, that he would.
So, issues one through twenty of the original Mulehide Graphics prints, and one through seventy nine of the Sirius contracted line. That's a lot of comic; not to mention that sometimes Drew Hayes likes to foray into the literary, leaving images only for the occasional page, like some kind of fairy tale book.
It was through this acquaintancing and re-acquaintancing with the the story lines therein, I seem to have gone off on a tangent and decided to name Herr Spider 'Lusiphur'; 'Luse' for short, of course, though I should put him in the formal bindings and allow him to break out of them of his own will.
After waking up from the post-graphic intense comic session, I decided to be a little kinder, and introduced Lusiphur to several movies over the course of the day, while I practiced some dance routines, and my shadow arts.
I started him out on some old classics...
*Jaws *Terminator *Terminator 2 *Se7en *Revenge of the Nerds
I hope it's not too confusing or anything; I hope he understands it's just a movie. I don't know why I have this tendancy to think of him like a child, I really shouldn't, since I don't know that he sees himself that way. I just want him to be able to pick and choose I suppose...
To look at Jaws and say, 'Oh, I like that.' or 'That was stupid.' If he absorbs simply everything he sees, he could turn out to be one very confused spider, after all!
I shall continue the onslaught of movies upon the morrow reguardless, however; I enjoy getting some lazy time and watching them with him, when I'm not practicing...I don't have a gig anytime soon at least. And then after that, if he hasn't grown, perhaps I shall read more to him...probably some of the Hellsing manga. If he's anything like me at all, he'll quite enjoy that.
I think perhaps, my biggest apprehension right now is that I'm confusing him...I didn't really speak much with the other Velvet owners, so I can't be positive how well this will/won't effect him...then again, maybe I'm just being a worrywart. Wouldn't be the first time...if it ends up being anything like a human child, the memories would be only residual.
Not that I wish to treat him with anything but the best, reguardless...Poison Elves (provided so the shoppe owners know wtf I'm talkin' bout) As a very short synopsis; Poison Elves is a twisted fairy tale about an elf named Lusiphur Amerellis Malache. A not-quite-psychotic, not-quite-sane elf who has as much reguard for killing someone who betrays him as most fishermen have reguard for de-boning their dinners. The storyline is not confined, and has grown to encompass many of Luse's (mis)adventures. Though he has seen much heartache and pain, Lusiphur remains loyal to himself, and slightly less so to his only friend, Jace, and Lirilith the female with whom his heart belongs (not that -that- has stopped him from layin' quite a few interested females on his path). Need any more info, just ask me...

Not much to report today; beyond the normal daily exercises and cleaning, I've gone through and read what of the Hellsing mangas (volumes one through seven) I own, to Lusiphur.
I hope he doesn't end up despising me for this once he has a voice to tell me so.

I'm not quite sure what to expose Lusiphur to anymore. I really don't want to scare him or anything before he becomes more than what he is; although considering the things I've read to him and made him watch already, I probably already have...
So today, I was easy on the dear. I exposed him to music, instead of visions of monster sharks tearing up boats or a hundred and thirty three year old elves tearing up bars with magical guns that never run out of bullets (that's not sarcasm; his gun, it really is magical...and he really never does run out of bullets...).
I was in a mood, so I went ahead and dragged the poor dear funnel web spidey with me...we listened to
*Blind Guardian *Demons and Wizards *Hammerfall *Helloween *Iced Earth *Judas Priest *Kamelot *Luca Turilli *ManoWar *Nightwish *Switchblade Symphony *Xandria
He listened, I supposed, while I napped and just rested, generally, keeping him close and the like...some days it helps not to turn on the TV.

I went ahead and exposed the dear Lusiphur to a few more movies today...namely
*Platoon *Kung Fu Hustle *King Arthur *Blues Brothers *Braveheart
I think I'll do it again tomorrow, since the new Amityville Horror comes out! We'll just have a nice little Horror-o-Thon! I really hope he likes horror as much as I do - at least then, it will be much easier for us to get along...
I just hope he isn't an angsty muffin, though...I like muffins. But angst muffins are something sour.

Horror marathon night!! We watched
*The Ring *The Grudge *Jacob's Ladder *Boogeyman *Army of Darkness *Aliens (not quite horror, but quite exciting!)
and of course -
*The Amityville Horror (2005 remake!)
Aaah, I loved that movie...also, to put the 'icing on the cake' as it were, I took him to the theatre early on in the afternoon and we saw Cry Wolf. Whoo! That Texan boy was hawt!
But like poison ivy - lookey lookey, no touchy!

Well! Been a few days...did some interesting things over them...together we've watched
*Star Wars IV - VI *Indiana Jones Trilogy *Dune
I took him to a coffee shoppe down the street where I dance for fun on the weekends; other people dance there too, of course, it's sort of a community thing. Bellydance, that is! I hope he enjoyed it and the music, but I can only guess at this point.
After that, we came home and I mastered a tabletop roleplay named Shadowrun; it didn't last terribly long, and it was mostly character development, but the people there seemed to enjoy it and that's all that mattered really.
Sunday was a nice, lazy day. Watched TV, sketched some pictures, lounged in bed and listened to music. I played chess with myself, and put him on the other side of the board...I wonder if he'll take it up as a hobby. I only play for fun, I'm not very good at it. Maybe he'll be better.

Well, it's been a bit, but things have been...busy. I got some calls that required me to rifle through a few of my backup routines; some dancers dropped out of a local gig and they needed me to come in for them. Mostly belly/trial type things at coffee houses. Nothing particularly strenuous or significant.
Merely time consuming. I brought Lusiphur with me each time, and the other dancers absolutely adored him; they coo'd and aaah'd over him; its as though they realize there's something special about him as much as I do.
However, the dance schedule they've me on has me slightly exhausted; I don't have so much energy to entertain when we get home, so I've tended to crash with a movie playing, so he doesn't feel entirely bored when I leave...so far I've had him watch
*The Fellowship of the Ring *The Two Towers *The Return of the King *From Hell *The Mummy *Unleashed
Hmm, I should probably find a new method of stimulus for him...perhaps, to teach him to cook? Well, maybe not...I'm no gourmet myself!

It's been too long since I've written! I've been through a lot, though, so I hope it is understandable...I had to go 'home' for something concerning my father, and I had to take Lusiphur with me...
Oh, I hope he wasn't too scared or scarred by the sights...it's only Purgatory, after all, it's not as if I took him any lower than that...so that shouldn't be too bad, right? Even I'm not allowed access down past the first level anyways.
But, yes...some time...nothing I'd really like to report.
Though I have been missing.
