Welcome, one and all, to the Gaian Coliseum. Before you begin ripping each other apart, there are a few things that you really must know beforehand...
arrow General Rules
1. Of course, the Gaia ToS must be followed at all times. Failure to comply with it will result in a warning, or complete banishment.
2. Unless otherwise stated, the Anti-Munch Project will be used as the measure of a God-modder. A god-modding conviction will merit a warn or a ban. This does NOT mean that the AMP is absolute law inside the Coliseum. However, there are times when we shall momentarily cast aside the AMP just for the hell of it. I fully intend to have a special Twink tournament, once the guild is up and running, to see who can best use their ridiculously overpowered character. mrgreen
3. Crew has the last word, period.
arrow Coliseum Rules
1. You may fight in the Coliseum at any time, as long as you have an opponent. Simply make the topic, describe the setting (the Coliseum itself can transform into nearly any kind of terrain imaginable), and have at it. The only stipulation is that you must denote what kind of topic you are making by placing one of the following in the title...
- Spar. A friendly battle, most likely for training purposes. ~Non continuous by default. NO KILLING~ [D] - Duel. A one-on-one clash. ~May or may not be continuous, must specify. Also, killing is allowed, but is not permanent unless permission is obtained~
- Team Duel. Two or more users on teams, facing off against one another. [DM] - Deathmatch. These have special rules. See below for more. [M] - Monster. A one-man face off against an NPC opponent. (may or may not be a monster). [TM] - Team Monster. Multiple users ban together to take out an NPC opponent. (again, may or may not be a monster).
The Title should look something like this...
[Battle Type]Creative Title: User/Team1 vs. User/Team2
More as they come up.
2. Wagering gold on fights is not only allowed, it is encouraged! It helps keep the fight going if there is a little motivation for the fighters.
3. Characters will be divided into Tiers. Characters from different tiers are allowed to fight each other, but the Coliseum will not be held responsible for any injuries or deaths that may occur during Bob the Builder's epic clash with the Dragon God Tiamat.
<>
Tier V. Normal, everyday Joe Schmoes. You and me, basically. Tier IV. Humanoids with above-average capabilities and/or training. Soldiers, martial artists, gangsters. Tier III. Humanoids at their peak; those with special training, and incredible skill. Master Ninjas, Special Ops Soldiers, etc. Tier II. Anyone with any kind of supernatural ability/weapon. Powerful fantasy races, elemental warriors, wizards, and everything else goes here. Tier I. As put by X... "uber a** characters" Gods, massively powerful beings, you're crappy anime ripoffs of ultimate pwnage, characters at the very pinacle of power. ((No Tier)). Munch characters, things that can't be beaten, or can kill everything and everyone with a snap of the fingers, etc.
NOTE: Unless otherwise stated, Tier 1 characters are not to be used in normal Coliseum battles. Many side events do allow these characters. Any character that would fall in the No Tier category is likely to be revised in short order or never used outside of a Munch Battle TM.
4. Deathmatches are the only battles in which character-killing is legal. All other times, the battle ends when one character is incapacitated.
5. On events - Anyone is welcome to create a special event, though we'd ask you not to advertise in other threads.
6. Deathmatches - While deathmatches are not encouraged by the management of the Coliseum, they are awfully fun to watch, and as such, are allowed. Deathmatches are just that; fights that do not end until only one fighter is left alive. Deathmatches may only happen if both fighters agree to it, and, naturally, a character that is killed in a Deathmatch may never be used again in the Coliseum.
7. OOC* arguments are discouraged; a certain bit is expected, but if things get out of hand, the crew will step in. IC** arguing, however, is perfectly alright. It leads to battles, and can keep said battles interesting. The Crew all have characters here, so we will likely step-in IC if arguments get too heated, but only to redirect you to the battlefield, and hand out popcorn to specatators. xd
8. I reserve the right to amend, alter, or otherwise effect these rules in any way I see fit.
*OOC=Out of Character **IC=In Character |

arrow About Duels
1. Duels are simply one-on-one character battles. They take place in the Coliseum, last as long as the two participants are willing to fight, and end when one fighter is unable to continue.
2. Character-killing is ILLEGAL in duels. That said, this in no way means you should hold back when fighting; the crowd loves a good battle, especially when much blood is spilled. We have an incredible medical staff at our disposal, and as long as the warrior is not DOA, we can almost always save his or her life, and get them back to fighting shape in no time. As long as they have not been decapitated, disemboweled, or disintegrated, its fine.
3. The winner of a duel is typically decided by the duelists (you should know when you're beaten). If the winner is in dispute and cannot be resolved, however, the staff and I will be happy to step in and help out. There are two ways a disputed duel can be decided... arrow A Judge, in the form of me or my crew, will read over the duel and decide who is the winner. arrow A Poll is created in the dueling topic, whereupon the public can vote as to who won.
Once the winner has been defined, he may finish his opponent off in any way he chooses; but again, you may NOT kill your opponent outright. Fatal wound, yes. Instant death, no.
4. More rules will likely be added here as they become necessarry.

arrow About Team Duels
1. A Team Duel is when a team of two or more users is present on the battlefield at any time. The minimum number of users required for a team duel is 3 (two characters united against one).
2. Teams can be as large as you want them to be, but it is recommended that you agree on a pre-set number of characters per team before the duel begins.
3. Team duels, since they have more than two users participating, should make use of a posting order to avoid confusion. A posting order is simply the order in which all the users post each round. Example.
Joe & Jeff vs. Jake & Josh Joe attacks. Jeff attacks. Jake defends and attacks. Josh defends and attacks. Joe defends and attacks. Jeff defends and attacks. Etc.
By adhering to a posting order, you make it easier to read your duels and greatly cut down on the confusion therein.
4. If someone is greatly slowing down the progress of a duel, or just isn't posting at all, their character shall be disposed of and removed from the posting order to prevent the duel from tanking. This requires Crew approval, however.
5. Team Duels end the same way normal ones do; when all the members of one team are no longer able to fight. Again, we will typically leave it to the duelists to decide on a winner, but if this cannot be done, we will step in and solve it. Again, no killing.
More will be added as needed.

arrow About Deathmatches.
1. Deathmatches are the only events in the Coliseum where character-killing is legal. Deathmatches can have as many participants as desired, but are typically one-on-one clashes to settle an unsettlable score in a most finalizing way. Deathmatches must be agreed upon by all participants before they can begin.
2. Deathmatches have all the same rules as Duels/Team Duels, with only one notable exception; character killing is now legal. The Deathmatch ends when the opponent(s) are dead.
3. The winner of a Deathmatch will once more be handed over to the participants to decide; however, because this is death, and not simply loss, an uncompromising argument is much more likely to arise. Again, if this should happen, you may either call upon the Crew to act as judge, or allow the people to decide the winner.
4. If you concede defeat in a Deathmatch, you are allowed to make your character's dieing post, and die with a bit of honor. However, if you decide to dispute the winner of the match, and it is decided that you lost, full puppetmastery of your character goes to your opponent, and they are allowed to kill you in whatever humiliating way they please. Keep this in mind when you consider calling in a judge or a poll to point out the winner.
5. Characters killed in Deathmatches may never be used in the Coliseum again.
More as they are needed.

arrow About Monster Battles/Team Monster Battles
1. Every so often, the crew and I will cook up a wonderful fantastical beast for you to fight. Dragons, demons, evil demon dragons, et cetera. Fighting and defeating these beasts will be difficult, but you will be rewarded if you succeed.
2. You may only bring one character into the battle. However, as many users can attempt to slay the beast at once as they would like. It is perfectly acceptable to gang up on a beast that is more powerful than you. Just look at Final Fantasy. razz Keep in mind, however, that the reward for slaying the beast will not change, and as such, if more than one user kills the monster, the reward will be split equally among all of them.
3. Monster battles will typically have sign-up topics where characters can enter their names for a chance at killing the monster. To prevent glory-stealing or kill-snatching, you must sign up as an individual, or part of a team, and only one individual or team may battle the monster at a time.
4. Don't worry; if your character is defeated, we will restrain the monster while your broken body is removed from the battlefield. You won't be killed. xp
