I've heard of Wicca and I'm thinking it sounds interesting, but I watched this show called 'The Haunting' in which 'demons' infested the home of a practiced Wiccan and can't help but be a little afraid. (Hence the poll.)
Also, does anyone know any Wiccan practices I can try?

Wicca is a perfectly safe, peaceful, earth-based religion. There is no 'evil', there is no 'devil worshiping'. Infact, there IS no devil in Wicca! So why would they worship that?
They don't believe in harming others, it's harshly against their religion. The view of Wicca has been terribly misconstrued.
I mean, just read their rede! The last lines, and the basis of the whole thing are: "These Eight words the Rede fulfill: "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"" For seriousness.
Wiccans don't practice much supernatural, ghosty things, actually. It's more of a nature, inner peace deal. There's no reason for demons to be more attracted to them. They tend to do everything they can to REPEL bad entities, y'know?
In summary: Wicca isn't bad. It's a peaceful, earth-based religion that doesn't believe in evil or doing such. People terribly misunderstand them. They don't want to do any harm!

Also, I've noticed that "A Haunting" and "Paranormal State" are shows leaning to the more religious side of things, claiming everything to be demons and calling in priests for exorcisms and such and I personally wouldn't take any of their stories or shows seriously. Sad, but true. Personally, I don't believe in 'demons' or the 'devil' or anything truly 'evil'. Just people who make wrong decisions. Lower beings, yes. Lower beings does not equal evil, however.
I wouldn't trust entertainment device (TV, Fiction works, etc.) to get my info and the facts. I'd suggest heavy research both on the internet and in books and trustworthy media sources for the facts. Also, you can't completely trust one source for all of the info. Everyone has their own beliefs so I think it's better to research a bunch and pick out what you find trustworthy and believable.

Thanks Ablepsy! I did figure that those shows were religious because The Haunting always ends with a Roman Catholic exorcism, but they scared me nonetheless crying I guess I misunderstood Wicca - I thought it was deeper into spirits and that its practitioners attempted magic. I certainly will research it some more. Thanks again for the info!

It's an earth loving religion. People who say that demons infested a Wiccan's home have probably been talking to a Wiccan who's been messing around in dark magic. It's perfectly safe. I think it may have been associated with Satanism, which IS a branch of Paganism, like Wicca.
I wouldn't suggest practicing any magic or seances or anything unless you're being taught magic. But, if you must, at least try to have someone with experience around.
NO OUIJA BOARDS. BIG NO NO. I'll smack you. Ever so hard.
But for srs, those shouldn't even exist as a toy. You play with one of those and the most wise of pagans won't be able to save you.
