Ramiel peered causiously out at the inviting meadow. It was the first time he had escaped the watchfulness of his father and the rest of the family. He had been curious as to what was outside of the palces his father took him but he wasn't that interested in sneaking away. It wasn't until his cousin Avery put the idea in his head that he decided to try his luck. Now here he was in some strange place peering out of the bushes deciding whether or not to go back to the teepee before anyone noticed he was gone or to go out in to the meadow.

With two winged sisters and parents who were new to parenting, it wasn't hard for Lani to strut off on her own. Afterall, she -always- returned. Always.
They might've given her the nickname of "spazz" but she knew where she was.
Like right now? She was miles away from home, carried there by her own four legs. And just as Ramiel peeked his velvet white nose out of the bushes, she was there, jutting her nose back through the bushes to look him in the eye, her own hazel gaze twinkling.
"Ello ello!" she piped, managing to wedge herself through the bush halfway. "You thinkin'a sneakin' way too?"

Ramiel stared wide-eyed at the sudden appearance of the foal in his face. He hadn't expected running into anyone and certainly didn't know what to do about it now. The foal in front of him, half in and half out of the bushes, looked to be about the same age as himself and she was more interestingly colored than he was, being of the darker shades while he was very pale.
"N-n-not m-much to think a-about w-when I already d-did." he managed to studder out still unsure of this new face.

He did? She gazed around, swinging her head in a futile effort to see his parents which were, infact, not around.
She grinned and backed up through the bushes once more, prancing to the beat of her own drum. "Well c'mon then, slowpoke! Come out into the meadow!"
Then Akiilani stopped and gazed back at him, brown eyes suddenly soulful. "I'm Akiilani, but everyone just calls me Lani. It's shorter."

He stood there still rather taken back at her sudden enterance but was shaken out of it when she disappeared back through the bushes. His ears then flicked forward as she yelled back at him. "Are you sure it's safe?" he asked peeking his head out of the bushes this time instead of just his nose. "My name is Ramiel, but you can call me Rami if you like."

Lani spun on him, giving a snort and a wide, cat-like grin. "Of course it's safe, silly goose!" she piped, fluffing herself up. "What're you afraid of? It's all wiiiiiiiiiiide open spaces!"

Ramiel sighed and stepped out of the bushes. She seemed to have no fear of anything at all! When he was little he had heard stories of evil Soquili who could fly and would pick a foal right up off the ground! "Just because it's all wide and open doesn't mean it's safe you know."

Lani hadn't had a sheltered life; she'd heard of those Soquili too... Her mother was a winged thief and her dad had never fought a day in his life. They'd never been attacked by these so-called 'baddies' and therefore, she didn't have any fear for them.
"Because it's wide and open means you can see things before they come at ya, Ramiel! So c'mon!"

Ramiel sighed and followed her out into the meadow. He still thought it was a bad idea but staying in the bushes wasn't getting him anywhere either. "Alright, I am coming." he grunted and blinked a couple of times as the sun was much brighter out in the open. "So what now?" he asked.

Lani grinned, beaming at the younger colt as he followed her meekly out into the wide open. As he turned to her, she gave a slight snort and reared up, nipping his shoulder. "What do you want to do now? We could run, we could race, we could play tag, go swimmiiiiiiiing," she paused to think about swimming, as it would be somewhat chilly but doable.

He watched her jump and rear. He really had no clue what he wanted to do. Normally he just spent his time with his grandfather or great grandmother and all they did was go for walks. He had run and raced with his sister but she always got upset when he would beat her so they never did that very often. "I've never been swimming before." he said thinking that might be a nice safe activity that wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings.

A grin rose onto the little filly's maw as she gave a buck. Swimming was fun! Something Aunt Merl couldn't do, but she was allowed to swim as long as someone was watching or if she had a buddy. Lani looked Ramiel up and down, quickly, then grinned again. He was a buddy!
"Let's swim then! C'mon, I know of a pond around here somewhere!" and with that, took off at a quick trot, tail bobbing behind her.

Ramiel was confused by the once over she had given him, wondering what was going through her mind for that. But he didn't give it much thought as he trotted after her. "How far away is the pond?" he asked hoping it wasn't close to his home and yet not too far away so as he wouldn't get caught or lost.

The little filly was lost in action, though. Her hooves clicked together as she trotted, overextending herself in her excitement to swim.
"Not too much farther--look! Ya can see the cattails!" she squealed. Dancing around him in a circle, she took a flying leap towards the little pond that was only yards away and with a yell, cannonballed in.

The colt stood there as he was splashed by his new friends flying leap into the pond. He didn't even try to dodge the water that was coming at him. His mane and tail dripped, soaking wet. He gave a sigh and walked towards the waters edge. He wasn't going to just jump in like she had.
"You know, you shouldn't just jump right into things. You don't know if it is safe or not!" He exclaimed to her as he took his time getting into the water.
