It had been weeks since she had spent a long night with Mafunde, and in those weeks she had come to appreciated him more and more. He was a closer, dearer friend to her. She had been hungrier in those weeks as well, and her mood had swung about wildly. She ran, and then she feared running, and then she longed once more to do so. It was an odd sensation indeed, finally Kohana managed to put her paw to what it was.
Panic. Utter panic set into her mind, it simply couldn't be! Yet as much as she tried to deny it she knew better, she knew that she had life within her, and not simply her own. At first she had wondered how in the world it could be, and then she blushingly recalled her time with Mafu. Then she decided that she was simply mistaken, it was just something she had eaten that made her feel funny.
The days passed, and finally Kohana had to admit it, she was going to have cubs, and she had to tell Mafunde. She dreaded telling him more then she dreaded the coming of cubs. Her nerves were rattled, yet somehow she pushed herself onward towards his den.

Mafu stretched with a yawn as the morning light poured into the small cave that had been edged into a small hill along the plains. He blinked back the sleep that still plagued his eyes as he wandered out into the warmth of the day.
He shook out his coat to rid himself of any lingering sleep as he made his way to the small watering hole that was a few feet from their den. After taking a few licks of the cool water, he looked out to see Kohana making her way towards him.
A smile appeared on his maw as he stood and walked to meet her half way. "Hey there." He greeted causally, "Went out for a morning run?" he asked cooly as he sat back down and started to groom himself.

"Yeah...I was...feeling...weird." Her sentence came out oddly disjointed, her voice held a note of panic and confusion as if she wasn't certain that her words were real. She sat down beside him and frowned, her eyes were filled with uncertainty.
"Mafu...I think..." She took a deep breath and gazed into the water before bending to drink, and drink. She might never have lifted her muzzle from the cool wet surface except for the knowledge that she couldn't stall him forever.

Mafunde started to become a little fidgety when she cut off her sentence to drink. He leaned in closer to look at her with worried eyes, his smile gone. "You think..." he urged her to finish her sentence.
He was a little afraid that she was telling him that she couldn't stand being with him any more and she'd run off. Thoughts like these always plagued his mind day in and day out, he'd even have nightmares where she would leave him, stating that she had better things to do. He hoped that wasn't what she was going to say.

She lifted her head and gulped "Well...I've been feeling weird, and...and..." She inhaled and looked at him her eyes filled with nervousness.
"Mafu...I think I'm...I think WE'RE gonna have...cubs." She swayed a bit on her paws the words sounded distant and alien to her. How could this be, perhaps he would offer her some alternate explanation for these odd feelings. A mixture of happiness, and uncertain dread filled her heart.

Cubs....
Mafu couldn't believe it. He... he was going to be a father, "Cubs?" He asked, as a small smirk came across his face. "Holy smokes..." For once he didn't know what to say. They were going to have cubs, he was going to be a father, Hana was going to be a mother. He couldn't believe it.

"Yes...cubs..." She looked at him her eyes filled with panic before she started to pace infront of him.
"I know it's unexpected, of course staying so long here...and with you...I'm so sorry to have brought this burden, but I want them Mafu. I really do, I never thought that I would but..." She trailed off her voice a high pitched gasp.
She sat still infront of him a rare ocurrance her stillness, yet she needed to watch his response and decide where they would go from there.
