Sie batha ne beechee? (Are you talking about me?)

Name: Sepakna (Sep – AK – na)
Gender: Female
Age: She is considered a mature Dug female, as Dugs generally care very little about their age in terms of years. The way humans measure time, she would be about twenty seven. Being reptilian, there is nothing about her appearance that suggests her age.
Species: Dug
Home planet: Tatooine
Previous occupation/training: A jack of all trades, and by all trades we mean all Tatooine trades (gambling, slave trading, sabotage, and other such criminal activities). Her parents were employed by a rising Hutt crime lord Gan Gula who was beginning to gain control of the planet's finances, and thus Sepakna's family were eager to gain the Hutt's favour. She trailed after her parents and watched them do their jobs until she was old enough to participate for herself. Sepakna's main "work" was gambling, in which she used her "incredibly high luck" to win funds to support the Hutt crime lord's conquest.
Distinguishing Features: Dark splotches around her eyes, wears a fair amount of jewelry for a Dug; "face tails" adorned with several coloured beads; her fin-shaped ears pierced several times with what appears to be bits of interesting metal; wears several rings on her toes; has numerous scars on her face and torso

Personality: A rough, cankerous sort, Sepakna's general disposition would be considered quite common for her species. In fact, some might even consider her a role model for Dug superiority. Prone to fighting, swindling, and bullying, her morals are virtually nonexistent. Seeing as she grew up on Tatooine working under a Hutt crime lord, this hardly very surprising. She is not above cheating a foreigner out of their money, nor does she hesitate to track people down who owe her money. Nobody but a Hutt is safe from her temper. Sepakna has no great love for any species but her own (and even then, her love for Dugs is fairly limited) and especially dislikes humans. She found that a human's only worth was the money you would pay to buy them as slaves, and so does not hold their species in high regard. Not to mention humans always insist that you learn Basic to speak to them, when they should be learning Huttese so they can speak to her. They always have their priorities mixed up, and for that reason Sepakna refuses to learn to speak Basic. She understands the language well enough; however she considers it an insult to be forced to learn a language of a race who does not survive well on Tatooine. Let the rest of the galaxy cater to the needs of humans. Anyone who did not understand Sepakna and really wanted to could go and purchase a translator droid.

The Dug has had a thirst for power ever since she was small, her desire to become of some importance driving her into the crime world of her home planet. Gambling quickly became her specialty, and Sepakna had no trouble using whatever underhanded tricks were necessary for her to come out on top. Money was power on Tatooine, and she still carries this belief to this day. Negotiations will not get you very far, if at all, in life, and thus Sepakna often looks upon the Jedi ways with scorn. In the real world, the only way to get someone to do what you want is to buy their interest or scare them into doing what you want through a display of power. This is the main reason why she left Tatooine to join the Order, wanting the power that came with being a Sith. While Dugs are no longer persecuted on their home planet, Sepakna still wishes to wield a threatening power to give her an advantage back on Tatooine. Though mind tricks do not work on Hutts, it is without a doubt that her training as a Sith would benefit Gan Gula and she would be able to profit by working for him.

Likes: People she can walk all over or boss around, gambling, cheating, being generally stubborn and troublesome, gaining power, having a fearsome reputation
Dislikes: Everything (naturally) but especially: people who butt in line, people who disagree with her, people who ignore her, jokes made about her height or her species, other Dugs

Alignment: Sith
Lightsaber: Synth crystal (to create the red colour) and Opilia crystal (enhancing); lightsaber blade is red; Retaliator hilt, however the lightsaber itself would be a shoto (due to Sepakna's small stature)
Image Song: Pink - 'Cuz I Can

Ji ama tuta... (I come from...)

Born and raised on Tatooine, Sepakna was one of the luckier Dugs, having not been born into slavery. Her clan had long since bought their freedom from the Hutts, however that did not stop her father from freely pledging his allegiance to Gan Gula, hoping to profit from their alliance. A slave trader by profession (among other things), Sepakna's father provided Gan Gula many humanoid slaves (mostly humans and Twi'leks) which the Hutt could use as he desired. Sepakna's mother provided for the family with a healthy career in gambling and betting on illegal pod races. The young Dug grew up with these prime examples for role models, and thus followed in her mother's footsteps when she was old enough to bet on dice games. She recognized her unusually high luck in predicting the results of dice games (which she later came to know as the Force) before she reached her maturity, and used it to her advantage. Her career as a gambler was nearly ended by the Miraluka Akanhal, however she managed to weasel her way out of trouble by threatening to put a bounty on his head. With her family's connections to Gan Gula, it was hardly an idle threat.

In return for her sparing his life, Akanhal was to teach her all that he knew about this "Force" which he said she was using. She wanted to know everything about it in order to further increase her chances at winning. Akanhal was her only teacher in the Force, and he taught her all that he knew (if only to avoid having a bounty on his head). Once her preliminary "training" was complete, the Miraluka suggested that she apply to join the combined Jedi and Sith temple, perhaps in an attempt to put her abilities to good use. Drawn in by the power and prestige being a Sith offered her, the Dug left Tatooine to become a part of the order. It was there that her training was brought up to date, so to speak, and she became a Knight.

Dopo mee gusha, peedunkey? (Do you feel lucky, punk?)

Force Skills
- Telekinesis: Sepakna's primary force skill and her most practiced, since it was the first that she discovered. It was used to intentionally change the outcome of dice games, and thus she can easily manipulate any object as small as a gambling die. She has less practice with anything as violent as shoving a person through a wall, but the threat is always there.

- Mind Tricks: Like most Sith, she has no qualms with influencing others for her own gain. However, Sepakna is more of the physical sort and so her practice with persuasion techniques has been minimal. If it doesn't work the first time, the next 'suggestion' is followed by a threat. It is possible that she's dabbled a little into Force Fear, though this remains up for debate. The reputation of Dugs do, more often than not, precede them and that alone could have been enough to make other humanoids thing twice before approaching her.

- Weaponry: No skills. Sepkana's only weapon prior to her lightsaber was a pair of Vibro-knucklers, and she accounts her accuracy with them to plain skill rather than any Force benefit.

Feats
- Weapons: Combat with non-lightsaber armaments such as blasters, thermal detonators, and stun batons. Sepkana is the most familiar with Vibro-knucklers, but has had experience handling blasters as well as concussion grenades.

- Unarmed Combat: Combat techniques the eschew the use of weapons entirely. Hand to hand (or foot to foot) combat using all four appendages plus the head. Sepakna is willing to beat up teach anyone who wishes to learn Tatooine "street fighting."

- Mechanics: Droid, machine, and ship repair. Specialized in taking droids apart for parts and putting together scrap bits to make a functional machine. Especially good at taking parts of out droids without any sign that they've been tampered with.

About Dugs
"Your buddy here was about to be turned into orange goo. He picked a fight with a Dug..." ―Anakin Skywalker

Biology and appearance
Dugs were slender, powerfully built beings with a somewhat humanoid build and a unique method of walking that hailed from the high gravity world Malastare. Their primary means of locomotion were their strong arms, and their lower limbs and feet were used for grappling and other fine motor manipulation. They hardly ever walked on their lower limbs. Sebulba was only once seen standing on his legs. Although most Dugs may walk on all four limbs, others liked to use their strong arms as legs and their feet as hands like they would normally do.

Dugs had smooth skin, which hung loosely around their tall necks, only to inflate during mating season calls. They also possessed fin-like ears and pronounced snouts. They lived mainly in the forests of the western continent of their homeworld in primitive tree villages called "tree thorps". On their homeworld Malastare, the Dugs were arboreal beings. They brachiated among the canopies with alarming speed using all four limbs.

Society and culture
"Dugs insult everybody. You know that. You shouldn't value their words." ―Jedi to a Barabel

Due to their oppression under their Gran rulers who colonized Malastare, many Dugs often felt the need to throw around their strength in bids to establish dominance. As a result, they were known for their ill-tempered demeanor, and many were little more than bullying thugs.

On their homeworld of Malastare, the vast majority of Dugs were little more than laborers toiling for the enrichment of the Gran. With the species excluded from much of the power and money on Malastare, many Dugs, such as Sebulba, turned to podracing as their only means to achieve fame and fortune. In all other areas, the Dugs were exploited and disenfranchised.

Dug mating is very reminiscent of some reptiles, which may indicate their ancestry. The loose folds of skin around the males neck will inflate during the mating season, showing a display of color. An interested female may pester or disturb a male in a few different ways until his balloon-neck deflates with a screech. After this, the two are considered mated. Mates remain loyal to each other, even though they may bully each other through their time together.

Because of their experiences with the Gran, the Dugs are xenophobic and rarely leave their homeworld. If they are seen off-planet, they are often seen in groups of their own kind (and because of their reputation, they're usually left alone). Most Dugs in the galaxy are criminals or risk-takers, leading many Dugs into podracing and gambling.

History
"Motivating the Dugs to fight is not difficult, for at the core of their beings are knots of unfocused rage. However, that rage is not centered in the true warrior's drive of hatred, but in insecurity. They are valueless, and they know this. That is why they will always be defeated." ―Darth Vader

Circa 8,000 BBY, the Galactic Republic established an outpost on Malastare since it was located at a key spot along the Hydian Way trade route. Later, in ca. 1,000 BBY, a contingent of Gran colonists settled on the planet. First contact between the Gran and the Dugs was bloody, and a long, brutal war ensued.

Because of the power and influence the Gran wielded in the Galactic Senate, the Republic settled the violence in the Gran's favor. The Dugs were demilitarized, stripped of political power, and relocated to the western continent of their own planet. The Gran ruled Malastare and represented the planet in the Galactic Senate. Dugs were little more than subservient laborers treated as slaves and paid minute wages. An organization called Dugs for Democracy protested against this treatment and would go on to oppose the Military Creation Act.

During the New Republic era, Dugs were granted equal rights and a Dug represented Malastare in the New Republic Senate.

About Tatooine
"Well, if there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from." ―Luke Skywalker, to C-3PO

Tatooine (IPA: [tæ.tu.'in]) is a setting for many key scenes in the Star Wars saga, and it appears in every Star Wars movie except The Empire Strikes Back. Since it is the home planet of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, it is also one of the most iconic planets in the Star Wars universe.

Tatooine is a desert planet in a binary star system. It once had large oceans and a world-spanning jungle, but this biosphere was destroyed when the myopic Rakata (a careless race of amphibian-humanoids) razed the planet, drying up its riverbeds and boiling away its oceans.

Tatooine’s G-type twin suns (Tatoo I & Tatoo II) bake its surface, making water and shade hard to come by. The planet's indigenous lifeforms—such as the rodent-like Womp rat, elephantine bantha, and fearsome Krayt Dragon—are well-adapted to its arid climate, but human settlers often become moisture farmers and live in subterranean dwellings in order to survive. The planet's lack of resources, brutal heat, and decentralized population have made governing the planet nearly impossible.

Many evil rulers have tried. The Sith held a tight grip on Tatooine for thousands of years. When they died out, the planet fell into the clutches of the Hutts, a clan of vile gangsters. Since Tatooine was beyond the reach of the Galactic Republic (the central governing body of the galaxy), the Hutts could preside over the lawless planet with little outside interference. When the Galactic Empire subsumed the Old Republic, the new regime established only a token presence on Tatooine, which left Jabba the Hutt’s reign unchallenged. Jabba ruled the planet until Princess Leia strangled him to death aboard his personal sail barge.

Although the barren planet seems like it would be a minor asset to any ruler, Tatooine has several sizable settlements, which increase its value considerably. The largest settlement is the spaceport Mos Eisley, once described as a “wretched hive of scum and villainy” by Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Others include Bestine (the nominal capital of the planet, where the Empire's weak government is located), Anchorhead, Tosche Station, Mos Entha, Wayfar (near Jabba's Palace), and Mos Espa (home of a famous podracing track).

Tatooine’s developed areas draw the biggest crowds, but the planet has natural beauty as well. Such underappreciated geographical wonders include the Dune Sea (an enormous desert), and the Jundland Wastes (a rocky region).

Geology, geography, flora & fauna
"What a desolate place this is." ―C-3PO

Tatooine is thought to have been one of the oldest planets in known space and was composed of a molten core with a rocky mantle and silicate rock crust. Fossil records suggest Tatooine was once covered in large oceans, which dried up, leaving behind many geological formations including Beggar's Canyon, formed around 2,000,000 BBY. Other notable geological features included the Dune Sea, an enormous desert, Mushroom Mesa, a vast formation of giant standing stones, and the Jundland Wastes, a rocky region.

Because Tatooine orbited two suns, Tatoo I and Tatoo II, the planet was covered in deserts and rock formations, while the days were extremely arid and bright. In fact, it was so brightly lit by the suns from space it could appear to be a star itself. This was the case for the people who discovered Tatooine as they first thought Tatooine was in fact a star until explorers landed and discovered that it was a desert planet. Due to the extreme conditions, only a relatively mild region of its northern hemisphere was habitable, and less than 1% of the planet was covered in surface water.

Population

The inhabitants of Tatooine included many different species from many parts of the universe, as can be seen in the multiple bars and cantinas in the cities. Most creatures on the planet love to gamble on nearly everything, especially podracing. This may attest to the fact that the planet has long been controlled by the Hutts. Intelligent lifeforms include humans, Hutts, Jawas, Tusken Raiders (or Sand People), Toydarians, and Sarlacci.

Locations on Tatooine

Anchorhead
Anchorhead is a fictional settlement located a few miles east of the Lars family home, south of the bustling spaceport of Mos Eisley, and primarily consists of moisture farmers.

Bestine
Bestine, the "capital" of Tatooine, is situated far west of Mos Eisley near the south-western Dune Sea. It was also one of the earliest settlements on the planet but never thrived economically, sharing the same problems as many other settlements on the dry world. The Galactic Empire eventually established its base of operations here and placed its regional governor in the city's Main Hall. It is featured prominently in Star Wars: Galaxies.

Dune Sea
The Dune Sea is a huge sandy desert, near the cities of Anchorhead, Mos Eisley and Tosche Station. It is inhabited solely by Tusken Raiders, Jawas, wraids, dewbacks and the occasional Krayt dragon. Moisture farmers often have many moisture vaporators located in the Dune Sea to collect the scarce water vapor from the air. It was to this area that Obi-Wan Kenobi went after the destruction of the Jedi Temple and the corruption of Anakin Skywalker. At his home near the Dune Sea, Kenobi communed with the spirit of Qui-Gon Jinn, while keeping watch over young Luke Skywalker, who lived on the nearby Lars Homestead. The Dune Sea was also home to the Great Pit of Carkoon, location of the great Sarlacc creature.

Great Pit of Carkoon
The Great Pit of Carkoon is located within the Dune Sea. It is a large depression in the desert sand created by the Sarlacc, a large omnivorous creature that uses the pit to capture prey. The Great Pit of Carkoon is the site of a skirmish that takes place between Luke Skywalker and the forces of Jabba the Hutt. The Hutt crime lord and most of his minions are killed during the battle.

Jabba'Palace
Jabba's Palace, made of stone and metal, is located in the desert known as the Dune Sea and was home to the gangster Jabba the Hutt. It is introduced as the main setting of the beginning of Return of the Jedi when Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, R2-D2, and C-3PO rescue Han Solo from Jabba. Jabba's palace is also the main setting in Tales From Jabba's Palace edited by Kevin J. Anderson]], as well as a playable area in the video game Star Wars: Battlefront II. The palace was originally a monastery built by the mysterious B'omarr monks, who still inhabit parts of the palace.

Jundland Wastes
The Jundland Wastes occupy most of Tatooine's temperate area, a rocky region known for its numerous cliffs and a multitude of hidden dangers. Most of Tatooine's indigenous creatures can be found in the Jundland Wastes including, Banthas, Dewbacks, and the fearsome Krayt Dragons. The nomadic Sandpeople, also called Tusken Raiders, live in the region as well as the scavengers known as Jawas. Obi-Wan Kenobi lived in a small dwelling on the edge of the Jundland Wastes after he took the infant Luke Skywalker to live on a moisture farm with relatives to hide the boy from Darth Vader. This area is also a level in the video game LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy.

Moisture farms
Moisture farms are small agricultural settlements found in the deserts of Tatooine that utilize a large amount of moisture collecting devices spread over a wide area to harvest water from the relatively dry air of the planet. Luke Skywalker spent his early years living with his Uncle Owen (Anakin Skywalker's stepbrother) and Aunt Beru on a moisture farm. Moisture farmers harvest water vapour from the atmosphere, and use it to grow crops in underground hydroponic labs. On Tatooine, the moisture farmer's primary enemy is the Sand People, or Tusken Raiders, who feel that moisture farmers infringe on their territory. Sand People attacks frequently result in damaged equipment. Famous moisture farmers include Beru and Owen Lars, Luke Skywalker's aunt and uncle, as well as Cliegg Lars, Owen's father.

Mos Eisley
Mos Eisley is a spaceport town. In Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi described Mos Eisley as a "wretched hive of scum and villainy."[citation needed] It is also the home of the Mos Eisley Cantina and Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes.

Mos Eisley Cantina
The Mos Eisley Cantina, officially named Chalmun's Cantina, is a bar located in the pirate city of Mos Eisley. It is the haunt of freight pilots and other dangerous characters of varying races and contains booths, a bar counter, and some free-standing tables, and sometimes a band of musicians named Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. This is a busy area in the video game Star Wars Galaxies, or SWG.

Mos Espa
Mos Espa is a city known for its distinct "desert-proof" domed buildings. It is home to a podracing track and was the home of Anakin and Shmi Skywalker in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. There was a large slave quarter within the rugged city.

Tosche Station (Toshi Station)
The Tosche Station, or Tosche Power Station, is a general store found in the city of Anchorhead. It sells a variety of goods such as power converters. Tosche Station serves as the central location in the Anchorhead Story of Star Wars, a series of scenes that were deleted from Episode IV. It is described as a frequent hangout for Anchorhead's youth due to the fact that its owner, Merle Tosche, is seldom around. In his absence, "Fixer" runs the business, accompanied by his girlfriend Camie, and assisted by a repair droid.
