I've been thinking of adding a post-limiting rule to the eggspam topic. Anyone who's seen it recently will know how insanely hectic and fast it goes.

The rule would be "Please wait at least one (or two) pages before posting again in the EggSpam topic". We've been getting almost (or more than) 100 new pages a day, and the rate only increases. Plus, when people do go above their posts and click, 2/3rds of their clicks are repeats to eggs they've already clicked.

I'd also ask people to tell mods about people who multi-post, as that'd be much easier than looking over the whole thing, provide proof, and the contacted mod would then PM the user with a warning. I'm not sure how far we can go with punishments, but making them aware of the rule might help a little.

I think it is a reasonable idea. Someone actually asked for something similar to that in the pokeplushies/valenth thread and we all just agreed to do it. Having one person with the same eggs in five posts on the same page just takes up space and makes the thread move an insane amount for those of us who try to click on as many eggs as possible.

I agree completely.
I limit myself to one post per oage anyway, so it would be great to have more people do that.
I hate having tons of repeats, and having to remember who I've already clicked.

Oops! Meant to put this in the mod forum. XP But then again, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to keep it here... Good feedback so far. wink

I was one of those people doing that,
but I waited every page.
And I recently went through and deleted all my posts from about 50 pages back.
but yes;
I think making it every page is good. :]

I think this sounds good. This way I'll be able to find my last post...hopefully. It will also help slow down the thread which is good for all people.

I agree. It is a little annoying to keep coming across the same posts from the same people. It would make it easier to get a variety of people clicking and viewing, I think... Personally, I only post once a day, since I can only get on for a little while in the evening, anyway.

I so agree to the new rule. It has really gotten out of hand.

Can we make one exception to Emergency Walkers? The only time I walk an emergency is when it is at critical stage .50 or less in time. I try to only post one post per page in order to get it seen by all.
You could always appoint a couple of members as emergency walkers. One for mornings and one for evenings. Those would be the only ones allowed to post per page in order to get the criticals hatched/grown. Just a thought

I believe a post per page or two is still way too much. We have that happening with even 15 people and they'll be the main ones posting every few pages, over and over, with only a minute amount of new posts.

I'd suggest per time frame. IE Please limit postings to every hour or two no matter how many pages have been posted. At least then perhaps when I come home from work I don't get 10 posts per the 10 people who post every two pages or whatever smile

Yeah, I try to wait for every page, but sometimes I get distracted and accidentally end up posting two or three times because the thread ends up slowing down sweatdrop

I would say one post per page, except in the case of eggs/ hatchlings that are under 0.75 days, which could be posted 2-3 times per page. My reasoning for one post per page is that at night and slow moving times, it would take up to an hour or more for the thread to move two pages from your last post, and during peak times the number of people posting should result in posts being a couple posts apart as long as people wait to post.

And as for my choice of 0.75 days, yes it's not as critical as <0.5, but real life obligations may interfere with one's ability to post for 12 hours or more, so the egg/hatchling would die if multiple posts were restricted to <0.5 days.

One post per page to be fair, I say. Any time limit wouldn't be right for dying dragons/eggs.

But also...what annoys me to no end is the whole, "Here are my dragons"

"Here are my mom's eggs"

"Here are my cat's dragons"

"Here are my sister's nephew's brother's friend's dogwalker's eggs"

"Here are eggs that I bred but someone else is raising"

is there any way to be like, "just post YOUR dragons"? I don't click ANY of the eggs/dragons on those posts and recently, I haven't been clicking at all because it just annoys me. Those people can post their own damn eggs. I mean, you have 7 days to hatch them, they'll be okay even if you can't get to them every day.

I agree that it would be nice if people posted once per page (or once per every 3 pages or whatever).

Perhaps there could be a second thread for posting other people's eggs that you have an interest in? That would let people look after the eggs they abandoned or the eggs of their catsitter, but it wouldn't be in the middle of people posting just their own. It would be a little like Egg Social Services.

I do post my daughter's eggs on my own, but she is ALSO a member of this guild. We thought it would be easier to post ours together, but if it is annoying, she can post hers for herself.

I agree with a once-per-page limit at the very least. Even when I'm spamming my friends' dragons (which I only do if they're low on time or otherwise need extra help) I'll only post as often as once per page until they hatch/grow up. They just get unique views faster when they're on the most recent page (though sometimes this is hard when it's the same handful of people posting over and over), but I see absolutely no point in posting multiple times per page.

I've really been hoping that you'd make a rule like this soon! Yes!

If we have to live with once per page, which I still think is too much given how many people post, can we also state that they should be posted in a straight line rather than down the page which can result in only a few posts per page and the repeated post continues?

I also agree with limiting it to your eggs/hatchlings only unless it is the rescue group.
