I can't help but roll my eyes when I hear a pro-lifer say something similar to "she should have known the possibility about having a baby before having sex". You've all heard it, and are equally as tired as I am of hearing it. Despite the condemnation and stigmatization a woman gets for having sex, which is actually a double standard encouraged to flourish by many religions, here, I present a refreshing spin to a pro-life argument!
Go back in time, before all these medical advances that made it possible for women to have safe pregnancies, and children to be healthy and the snaz.
Back then, when a woman got pregnant, there was the very grim and real possibility that she could DIE.
Children had the possibility of being born without a mother. Doesn't that suck?
Also, children themselves had the possibility of dying too. Premature-born children were almost guarenteed to die off, if not in the new few days, then by the first year. The only reason that preemies and other very disadvantaged children could be alive nowadays is because they were kept living- and thriving- through artificial, unnatural means at the event of their birth. Otherwise, they'd croak.
So, to fit in the argument "she knew what was coming to her", I have to ask this- Did the pregnant women of yesteryear "choose" for death? Did they really desire to die over having a child? Should she accept death, else she be marked as irresponsible, or selfish? If she tried to undertake measures to prevent her impending death, but died anyway, are you going to say "oh well, she should have known she was gonna die after she had sex." ...?
booyah.

Dorei Demon Um... Er.... *tries to find a way to comment, agree, disagree or something but can not seem to be able to* xp thanks, at least, for the thought of posting Dorei! ^_^ oooh, I have something else to share about this thread- I believe I read somewhere about the number 1 cause of death among pregnant women. it's homicide. Usually by a boyfriend, husband, or significant other, usually because they didn't want to have that child. Anyone got the stats on hand?

MipsyKitten Nethilia You know what I have coming to me when I have sex? An orgasm. That's it. I wish I could be that sure sweatdrop Oh, pregnancy can occur, but as of this moment the only thing I deserve when I have sex is an orgasm. Not parenthood, not responsibility, not blackmail and guilt. An orgasm. That's all that I should expect.
