Murdoc did not like the heat. At all. He wondered to himself at times if he could somehow migrate some where cooler. Perhaps south. But... walking there would be so much trouble in this heat that it almost didn't seem worth it. So he sat in as much shade as he could find and glared at the sky, as if he could will it to dim and cool.
He groaned and flopped onto his side, eyes closing tightly as he lounged under the thin scraggly tree he had taken refugee under. It wasn't much, but it seemed to fit him, oddly. His fur was matted with dirt and who knew what else, and it was obvious that he had not really bathed in... well, I'll save you the juicy details. Needless to say, he stunk rather badly. And the intense afternoon heat did not help matters.

The same could be said for the dainty pink cheetah picking her way carefully through the tall Savannah grasses, but she usually was good at holding her tongue. Heat was apart of life, and as he mother had taught her in Jo's many edicate classes, Whining was not lady like what so ever. Nor was it attractive for a girl of her standards. So, despite the scorching heat that burned into her thick coat of fur, she kept quiet.
"As soon as I find a nice tree with shade, there will be no more of this heat." She reminded herself quietly, nodding as if to affirm this statement.
It seemed like days since she had come across another traveler, and this worried her. Not that Jo was heading anywhere in particular, but how was she supposed to practice her singing properly if there was no audience? A frown crossed her gentle face as she considered what to do. She could always sing by herself, but then there was no one to critic her. A long sigh came from her parted lips. What worried her most was her voice rusting up. But for the moment, that could wait. A thin, scraggly tree had come into view with a nice patch of shade.

The tan male remained still on the ground, eyes half lidded lazily. He felt like he could die here. And unlike Jo, he was perfectly fine with complaining about it. But since there was no one around, he didn't waste the energy to speak.
He sighed heavily, his eyes closing completely for a moment... But then he jerked up and started scratching furiously at himself, eyes clenched tight together at his back paw sent matted fur and dried mud flying in all directions.
"Stupid ********' fleas! It's too hot for you bloody little vermin, don't ya ever sleep!? Gah!" He continued to shout a line of curses and obscenities, all the while rolling around on the ground and scratching. When he was finally done he flopped back onto the ground, panting and looking even more miserable, and even more grumpy.

In a relatively good mood, despite the heat, Jo padded silently towards the tree. The sun seemed to reflect off her spotless pink coat, and she hurried forward. But a shouting string of irrationally angry, incomprehensible words stopped the cheetah in her tracks.
What was that?! It continued on, the speaker cursing up a storm. Hfmp. Well what bad manners he or she had! Jo might have had her tongue caught off if she had spoken like that in front of her mother. But then again, her mother wasn't here. Dropping into a low crouch, she instinctively crept closer to the tree. But trying to sneak up was futile, her bright coat could catch any one's eye. Frowning and for the first time wishing she had natural colored fur, she straightened up and began a slow pace forward.
"Hello?" She questioned quietly, her musical voice filling the air. It was at that moment she became aware of a figure lurking in the shade of the tree.
"Hello!" She greeted more pleasantly, nodding towards the figure.

Murdoc blinked when he heard a soft, surprisingly pleasant voice. He didn't even have to look at Jo, or catch her sniff... The voice alone made a wide crooked smirk spread over his maw, revealing sharp teeth that were a couple shades too yellow to the healthy. Females... the one thing he loved most in the world. Well, second to not being so damn hot anyway.
He stood smoothly and turned towards Jo, looking a bit startled. "Well hot dayum." He muttered softly, ears fanning forward. "Gotta say babe, you're a mighty fine bombshell."

A grin began to spread across her face. Oh, a cheetah! She had always favored her own species above others. Not for any reason in particular, she just considered them superior. However, a strange aroma suddenly engulfed her. The smile on her face cracked, shattering as she tried not to breath. What...was...that....stench! Composure. She had to remember composure. But the smell, it was awful. Jo took a small step backwards, beginning to grasp the fact the awful smell came from the male. She hadn't even heard what the male said, focus to much on trying not to make a face.
"Oh...how charming." She choked, keeping her face straight. After a few moment, she began to adjust to the smell, but she tried to keep her breaths short. Every time she took a breath, it burned her throat and that couldn't be good for her singing.
"I'm Jo'Maalum, but I don't like my full name, so it's just Jo." She explained curtly, smiling and nodding politely.
"And you?"

Either he didn't notice her disgust, or he chose to ignore it. He continued to smirk toothily at her, even going so far as to wiggle his eyebrows. There was no effort put into hiding the fact that his eyes were roaming over her body.
"Name's Murdoc. Wouldn't forget that if I were you, I'm sure you'll be saying it later." Another waggle of his eyebrows as he stepped closer to her, his tail brushing along the ground as he walked. "So Jo... Ya got a nice voice, Jo."

"Oh!" She giggled, forgetting to hold her breath and coughing slightly after the laugh. "Thank you, I'm a singer. So you probably shouldn't forget my name either, since the whole Savannah will be saying it later." She cooed, turning to circle around him, assessing what kind of cheetah she had run into.
'A slob' she thought to herself, wrinkling her nose in disgust. And he smells. Jo couldn't help laughing silently, he seemed oblivious to the smell. But then again, when you live with it you must forget the stench.
Quietly returning to her place in front of him, she tried to smile without taking in too much air. "Murdoc, would you mind sharing the shade? You aren't the only one trying to escape the heat." She didn't quite see the point to acting polite, she knew his type and they didn't care about that sort of thing. But she had been raised a certain way, and no type of person could change that.
"Please." She added.

The filthy male watched her circle him... Of course he took her interest all the wrong ways... It made his ego inflate, and his confidence build. Oh, if only he knew the truth...
"Babe, you can share anything with me, anytime..." Murdoc moved to lay down again, staring at her expectantly... As if he really considered her to lay down with him.

Jo stared with a horror struck face, the idea of actually touching him appalled her! But she after so much practice of looking polite and putting on a fake smile, it didn't take long to cover up the face with an light grin.
"You're cute." She giggled, amused he had been serious. Did he honestly think his filth attracted her or something? Turning around, she moved towards a section of shade a few feet from him and casually laid down. How funny this Murdoc was! Even if he had not meant to be.
"Do you live around here, Murdoc? Or are you a traveler like myself? You have an unusual way of living." She purred, not sure if he would get she was referring to the smell.
"Or is this just what you do on hot days?" Her tone was silky, perhaps unintentionally seductive. Jo seemed to almost flirt by mistake most of the time.

Murdoc blinked at her for a moment, then grinned wider, ears perking in excitement. She thought he was cute? Well, he knew that he was a fine piece of man meat, but... it was rare for females to actually say that... The male smirked widely and nodded to her.
"I travel, most of the time. But I've been around these parts for a while. But uh... Yeah, suppose I do this on hot days. Can't stand the heat much, mostly just lay around... Not that I'm lazy or nothing-" Thatwasalie. "just like to lay in the shade." He watched her sit down, then moved to flop down beside her. Not too close, but perhaps too much for her comfort.
"So ya travel? Can tell, you seem like the travelin' sort, running around catching people's hearts, eh, babe?"

"Interesting." She said half heartily, her eyes wandering away towards a flock of birds that had just taken flight. They squawked loudly overhead, probably bickering amongst themselves. She watched for a moment, hoping he didn't realize she was ignoring him. However, her head snapped back as he took a seat near her.
'Too close for comfort...' she thought warily, leaning back in attempt to get away from the smell.
"Hardly." She chortled nervously, half laughing half coughing.
"I had someone I loved a while ago, but he ran off. I must not be hot property if my own mate ran off. Wrong person for me, I suppose. He wasn't worth my time anyway." She shrugged lightly, looking down at her paws. You could almost hear an edge of anger in her soft voice.
"I don't think he even really cared. But I guess that isn't uncommon. People lie to one another about that sort of thing all the time." She quickly ended her rant, realizing she was telling this to a complete stranger. Who smelled. "Not to bore you or anything with my life story." She murmured quietly.

Murdoc listened to her sad tale. He didn't seem to pity her though. Heck, he might not have even been really listening... Which was probably true, since his eyes were constantly roaming over her. Even when she was ignoring him, he didn't seem to mind. Her words were all 'blah blah blah' in his mind...
His brain managed to capture the last bit of her rant though, and it didn't take him much mental effort to put the pieces together... Heart broken girls were the easiest to snag!
"That's sad." He nodded, focusing on her eyes for one of the first times. Wow, she had pretty eyes too. "I've never done that too a girl. Shouldn't be treated like that. Should be like... a princess." He wasn't quite lying there... He'd never done that to a girl. Though really, he'd never been with a girl... Ouch.

"A princess?" Jo question, raising an eyebrow. Perhaps it was just his appearance and smell, but the word princess didn't even seem like it fit in with his vocabulary.
"It all depends how you look at it." She explain, noticing his lack of attention. Frowning, she turned her head more towards him until she found his eyes.
"Sometimes, it's for the better. He wasn't right. I wasn't right. Right for him, or anyone for that matter." Jo shrugged, flicking her tail.
"And you've never experienced something like that?" She challenged, tired of talking. She felt like a needy female when she babbled on...because she was. And he didn't seem like the type who tolerated needy females.

"Oh, nah... Never really went threw that." He chuckled softly, with a hint of nervousness to it. He was listening now. Not very well, but he actually heard what she was saying between his not very well hidden glances.
When she looked directly into his eyes he was forced to fully look at her. Not wanting to look away, he just stared at her with a small smirk.
"I guess no females been able to handle me yet, is all. Shame though, don't know what they're missing. The poor saps. And yea, a princess. Haven't ya ever heard of a princess? Like pampered and s**t."
