Ka'hmesh had been wandering for quite a while now - after hearing of an entire pride of demonic lions that had claimed territory... he'd decided to go looking for them. Just. Because. He didn't know what, if anything, he would actually do when he found them, but he would find them.

And if Morifaer was about ... well. He would cross that bridge when he came to it, Ka decided. No point in tying himself up in knots about the past right now.

He had heard that the pride was near a jungle of some kind, so when he topped a little rise and saw the green of trees in the distance, he picked up his pace a little. Maybe... he was getting closer.

They traveled often, never staying in a spot to long. And today, it was no different; though Nafasi had decided for now that they should rest. Of course, by they, he meant his young companion, Tifu, who still insisted he was her father (HOW!? Why?). For now she slept peacefully in the shade of a large tree. They were on the edge of the forest, having wandered here for no reason. But seeing those trees reminded the young lion of his beloved Salaa, and he felt weak as he stared into the shadows of the jungle.

They would turn away from here before night fall, he feared the jungle to much to explore deeper then this.

So for now, he watched over Tifu and into the distance.

And glimpsed a lion, larger by far then himself, covered in scars and golden armour.

Nafasi quickly went into high alert as the other neared, his mouth set in a grim line, tail thrashing. He was always nervous around others, ever since loosing his cubs, and he would not loose Tifu.

If the male came closer, he would be sorry.

Ka'hmesh spotted the other lion after a moment or two, and paused, blinking a bit. Oh dear ... he looked rather aggressive. But from what the sandy-colored lion had heard, his colors weren't really 'right' for the demonic pride, and he didn't think that he was all that close to their lands, anyway.

So he kept on going, though slowly, trying to appear non-threatening. Perhaps if he could convince this other he meant no harm, he could get some information.

Nafasi was shaking, it was horribly obvious how afraid he really was. The way he eyes twitched left to right, the way his tail jerkily swayed, the tip brushing and dusting the earth. What if this lion...what if he wanted Tifu? What if he had been following them, waiting for the chance!?

The earthquake had brought on many things, insanity could easily happen, could easily cause a lion to snap. This lion could be mad with rage.

But...

The way this one walked, even with his large body and odd golden armour...he seemed far from dangerous. Nafasi felt his muscles ease, but not completely. If this lion, this monstrous HUGE lion made any sign that he was going to attack, Nafasi would fight him to the death.

"Who are you?" he called out across the distance between them, "What do you want!?"

Ka'hmesh paused for a moment when the other called out, and ducked his head a bit. "I'm sorry," he said in reply. "I don't mean to trespass. Does this land belong to any pride?" That could explain the other's aggression - though not necessarily the fear.

Then again, he was a younger lion and Ka realized he probably looked rather scary.

'Sorry'?

I cannot, for a moment, believe my ears. Perhaps I am going insane. But no, the lion before me continues to talk, and I am shocked to see that he means little harm. Unless he is faking this apologetic stance. My guard lowers ever so slightly, but I still watch him warily.

"No," I say softly, shaking my head, my partial-mane falling loosely across my eyes as I speak, "this is no ones land...I just--" just what? Do I tell him that I have a cub, sleeping mere feet away from us? Do I trust him enough. Do I trust this larger, scarred lion at all? I hold my tongue and stare at him, "I am just...resting here," I finish with voice that offers a little respect, a little fear, and possibly a little trust. He shows no outward signs of violence. I could possibly trust him.

"Who are you, though? A name would be better then calling you 'Lion' or something unappealing like that."

A small, precarious smile carves it way onto my face, and my tail lashes lazily from left to right. I may still find him dangerous, but for now, I relax just in the slightest. It would be nice to trust another lion. So very nice.

Feeling just a bit better at not being attacked or something of the like, I relax a bit more, shaking my mane out. I know that I probably don't look very friendly at first glance - what with scars and armor and all, so I can't really blame this younger male for being defensive.

So long as he doesn't attack me, though, I will do nothing to harm him. "I am Ka'hmensh," I reply to his question after just a moment, ears tilting toward him.

"And what might your name be? I don't plan to do you any harm," I add then, just to make things even more clear.

He is quaint, friendly, and calm. I feel my whole body easily relaxing; even if I know I should never relax. The way he speaks is open, and not barbed or shielded. He wishes nothing more, it seems, then to be sociable.

I tilt my head, at his question, suddenly forgetting my name. I have a tendency to forget such simple things like that. Only Tifu helps me remember on days when I am lost.

"Na--...Nafasi. Nukta'Nafasi. But you can just call me Nafasi." I know I sould horribly repeatitive, but I have to repeat my name not just for his sake but for my own.

"I trust," I quickly add with a smile, "that you don't. For both our sakes."

I nod at that and smile slightly at the other male. He still seems nervous, and I'm not sure why. I'm not being at all hostile... but then again, maybe that's just how he is normally.

"Nafasi," I repeat after a moment, setting the name in my head. "If I may ask, what brings you to this parts?"
