She sighed and stood solidly at the top of the hill. It was her favourite spot there. Peaceful and barely anyone came up. You could see many things from that spot. Such as villagers and villages here and there. Soquilis trotting around and fillies playing tag. Her heart felt warm and happy as she watched the ones down there and no one could see her up there. For once, she was not the one being watched. She felt safe, protected up on that hill. Her purple mane flowed and waved to everyone as the breeze rushed by. The moment felt right. The mare started humming a sweet tune, one that would cause another to fall asleep. Lullaby almost. Not exactly but it had its similarities. That morning was relaxing and quiet. Sun giving off its rays, not extreamly hot but mild.
The sky would get dark soon. Her coat would once again glow in the darkness. Since she was so bright, her colors often glowed like a torch in a cave. It attracted attention which is what Amatsila does not want. Freinds, yes. Attention, no. End of her little tune, she stood up and was prepared to go.

A far more excitable being was on her way up the hill as Amatsila was on her way down. "Hmm, hmm, I've got a cookie, hmm, hmm," Scarlet sung as she bit down the rest of her baked good while humming. "I like a cookie," she muttered, mourning the loss of her treat. She hadn't even made it all the way up the hill to munch on it like she wanted too. Life was so hard for a mare. She whimpered and prepared to turn to retrive another cookie from her two legger when something caught her eye. "Purple," she exclaimed, rushing at the mare. "I like purple more then I like cookies! Your mane and tail is purple! What's your name?"

Another noise was coming from farther down the hill. She could hear it with her strong sensed ears. Amatsila took deep breathes and prepared herself. Knowing almost every soquili she sees approaches her. Another conversation was on the way, what a drag. Her shyness tries to erupt and escape its box in her body. She sighed and shoved it back in her mind. Out of no where a rather natural colored filly rushed to her side. This made the box erupt and her shyness caught up. Silent. She fell silent and just watched and listened to the filly. So small, smaller than regular fillies. Adorable nonetheless. Her voice however sounded like her own age. Strange. This filly....is definetly very different. Still remaining silent, she gazed at the soquili and simply smiled, nervously. Which resulted in a weak smile. Not quite sure what to say. A few days ago she had been approached by a running filly who complimented her looks. That made her want to hop up a tree. This one as well shocked her, with its running. Any fast movements or rush, will cause her to panick. There was no panicking now, plus she was encountered with a similar hello, this one was no different, not as surprised. Her heart was still beatign fast, but after a few moments it slowed down. Still not opening her mouth to squeek out the tiniest word, Amatsila just stood solidly and waited for the filly to speak once more.

Scarlet smiled and nodded understandingly. She flopped onto her hip as she reached the mare and said, "my son doesn't speak much either. Though he is a sweet thing. Much like his brother. Do you have any foals," she asked, looking up at the mare. "I'm Scarlet, let's be friends," she finished with a really big grin. "I like to make friends." she settled further into the grass, no longer mourning her cookie.

This filly was much more happier than the other. She was almost...hyper like her step-sister. Amatsila laughed a little. Not at her, but adoring this one. "Sure." Came her sweetening voice. She lied down, still feeling quite big compared to her. "I'm Amatsila." She added quietly. Nodding with a smile of her own. Then Amatsila glanced at her new 'friend', fillies were not meant to be harmful, onless they were demon babies. A bit of her trust was already won over. Although she did not want to get all too friendly, seeing that this could easily be a trap. Everything she sees, she consider is a trap or some kind of cruel trick. Her life was always in danger. Thats how she saw the world. Amatsila loosened up a little and continue to let her gaze fall on the filly. Then she come to realise what she had just said. Son? This filly had a son. "You....have a son?" she asked eye widened. How could a filly raise one, or even keep one in its belly. Her heart pounded wondering maybe if this kalona is disguise accidently said too much. Amatsila stood right up. Waiting for sharp shiny teeth to appear.

"Of course I do. Two actually. I am a fully grown mare after all!" She pered from her nest as the mare jumped up. Scarlet paniced. Did she not like kids? Had she offended her? "Oh dear," scarlet amended, jumping up as well. "I offended you, did I? I'm sorry. If you don't like foals then tell me and I swear on my smallish honor I will never speak of them again." she forced a happy smile, but fet terrible about making the mare upset. What if she grew to hate Scarlet. She couldn't bare even the thought.

Amatsila, eyes still widened, stared at the 'full-grown mare'. "You're.....an adult?...Like me..." She had no time to think about the mare's apology and explain to her. This was yet another new discovery. A race of tiny mares existed out there? Where had they come from? Perhaps these were mares that had once been stepped on when they were in a basket? Amatsila tried to think of a scientific way to explain why these mares were so small. Nothing could just...be. There was always a reason why, if there simply wasnt. It just means the reason was simply just forgotten or never firgured out. How was this possible no way.

Scarlet looked at her for a second before she began to laugh. "Oh, my. Sometime I forget my size! Dear me, forgive me. I am what si called an Usdia. A miniature Soquili." She beamed and tossed her mane. "Sometimes I forget to explain to others why I am so small becasue I forget I'm so small. It's a pity more don't know of Usdias. Most I've met are quite sweet." She beamed again and neslted back into her nest. "I'm sorry I frightened you. you must have thought I was a kalona in disguise! I once that that of all regular stallions. And can you blame me? Have you seen and tlal they are?!"

Amatsila stared at her for a long time. Trying to soak in all the information. Miniature soquili? Usdia? What is all this. How many other species of soquilis out there did she not know about. Her adventure side got excited but her fearful side got unhappy. Then it creeped her out more that the 'Usdia' was able to read her mind that she could have been a demon in disguise. She waited and thought about what to say. Finally she came up with something. "An....Usdia? You....uhm...." she hestitated. Not sure if they were like herself, where she held no powers of any sort, or either they did hold powers and were maybe able to levitate? Amatsila thought about it for a moment and decided to end her sentence there. Hanging. What in the world is an usdia besides a tiny soquili? Could they change sizes like a flutter could? Millions of questions and theories shot back and forth in her mind.

Scarlet blinked. And then did so again. The blinking combined with her ears being stright up and down did not add up to make a highly intellegent look. She grinned and shifted her weight a little, waiting for the other mare to finished her sentece. She egged her with, "yes... I what? Come now, dear, I won't hurt you. Look at how much bigger you are than me!"

Amatsila looked left and right, hoping she could hop off into some bush like a shy rabbit. There were no near bushes or even trees. On a hill with nothing but grass. She sighed and turned her attention back to the 'usdia'. "Nevermind," she replied softly. Then added a weak smile. "What.....are......usdias?" she asked with the most confused expression. Shes met many soquilis, some with wings, some with special abilities, and even one who was blind. Amatsila wished this one was too, then she would not feel the attention on her with those eyes and the pressure would be off. The mare erased that thought, it was mean to wish that on anyone. Even though being blind could have its advantages, anyone would probably choose being able to see over being blind. The mare waited patiently for an answer. Thoughts scientificly shot back and forth, how was a full-grown adult this size? In fact, smaller than a foal. Amatsila, tried to smile friendly, hiding her nervousness. Even if she was bigger, that doesnt mean that she is stronger in anyway. This 'usdia' can easily beat her with a simple unexpected 'boo!'. That'll cause her to run for miles away from the hills.

"Hmm," Scarlet thought suriously. What a good question indeed. What exactly were Usdias, besides smallish Soquili. she pondered the qestion and nibbled on a flower, her eyes widening as she thought. another un intellegent look for her and her ears were also all the way up at this point.
"Well... well I just don't know," she said at last, wonderously, as she, too, had made a new discovery. And about her own kind no less. "We don't have any powers like flutters who can change sizes nor are we like Uni's who can heal quickly. We are not like kelpis in the sense that we live in the water, nor are we like Mer's who can live on land and sea. We are not angelic like Angenis. Nor are we as good as Winds. However we are not evil like Kalonas. We are somewhere between the two. I guess... we're just like ground Soquili, only smaller." She beamed and said, "I hoped that answered your question.

That indeed did. How the mare kept reading bits of her mind, start to give her a chill. Perhaps Usdias' powers were reading minds. Amatsila didnt like that, that would be invading her privacy. Her thoughts were her thoughts. Damn right shes glad that kalonas and skin walkers didnt read minds, or at least none do as she heard. Or else they'd be hard to back down like an evil god. Your thoughts is a precious thing. If everyone could read everyone's mind, well Amatsila's world would be turned upside down. As well, everyone else will be cocky over everything just because anyone can read their minds. The world itself would be set to doom. Enough with the mind reading thoughts, Amatsila smiled slightly. Usdias, from what this tiny soquili had said, was just like regulars. Like herself. She smiled more at this one thought. "I like your colors, they're very....natural," adding a chuckle to her sentence. They werent pretty no, but they were interesting. Almost as if colored to resemble some other animal patterns. Another discovery has been made.

Scarlet beamed. She'd never been complemented aside from her mate. "Thank you! you're very pretty too. My son loves blue. And I love purple! You've got a purple mane and tail! You're so lucky! I wish I was purple." Scarlet stopped speaking to think for a second. "Actually, never mind. I like being colored like I am. I'm from the mountains so I blend in with my terrain. It's easier to hide from predators. You must hide with the flowers! I love flowers. What's you favorite flower? I love roses." My this certainly was a nice mare. Scarlet beamed again. She'd made a brand new friend!

Happy as she was to be with this Usdia, Amatsila was still fussing over her fears. Demons could just be around the next turn. She tried to push thoughts and images of herself being eaten away. "I....I dont have a favourite flower," om fact she did not. Every flower was beautiful to her. She did not like how some smelled but all were beautiful nontheless. Blend with flowers, that wasnt what she did at night, she glowed at night. In day light she stood out with the brown and green of the forest. Really if she digs deep into a bush and let the leaves cover all of her, she will 'blend'. Besides that it was hopeless to be camouflage. Amatsila felt very lucky if she were the mare. She was tiny and natural colored, so she could easily fit in tight spaces where demons were too big to fit into and blend with the tree trunks and all the other natural things. "Maybe white roses....those are always so peaceful and beautiful. Then I like many kinds of orchids...I just cant choose," she smiled trying to pick up some names.
