Asadaki wandered in search of food for his sister. He knew he couldn't go too far and leave her alone... for she was so delicate, he was certain that something awful would happen if he left her too long. But it was far too dangerous for her to join him on a hunt, which would completely devistate him. So he went alone, in search of something suitable for her, and himself, to eat.

He hadn't been having the best luck so far... he was used to hunting with his pack, but they were long gone now. So far behind that he wouldn't even know how to find his way back if he wanted to return. Which he did not.

But still, despite having Biku with him... Asadaki was lonely. He had many friends in his old home, and he had left them all behind without a second thought. Now the only person he had left was his darling Biku... but she couldn't do much, lest she risk being injured. So he couldn't go out with anyone... he couldn't talk to anyone about things other than important choices. Really, he had left everything behind... He missed having others to speak with.

He hadn't seen another hyena in weeks... or another living soul, save what he hunted down for food.

Adaness'kali had once again successfully escaped from her family's burrowed den. It was actually amazing that she had done so twice, in the same week, and not get caught yet by neither her mother nor her nanny. It was rather... liberating, to say the least. She was quite proud of herself. Soon enough she would be able to leave without having to worry about her family.

That would be the day.

Already she was planning to leave soon, with or without her siblings, and perhaps find somewhere else to call home.

Kali easily padded through the savannah grasses, small enough to hide herself from any eyes looking for a quick and easy meal in the form of a cub traveling alone.

She made her way towards a couple of trees, curious as to find what she could see if she were to climb up those trees and look around...

Asadaki was a little suprised when he very nearly tripped over something else wandering through the grass. It took him a moment to regain his footing and look down to see that he had tripped over someone who was very much alive... and most certainly was not another hyena.

She looked like... a lion cub? He had never actually seen a lion, though his pack had described them once or twice, but he was fairly certain this was one. A very young one, all alone in the middle of nowhere? Most suprising indeed...

"Hello there... are you alright?" He asked, very polite, "I didn't mean to step on you..." One should always be polite to one's fellow predators. While he did look down a little on anything he could eat, a lion was most certainly another powerful creature. And he would never hurt someone so young. That wouldn't be proper at all.

Kali gave out a shriek as suddenly rather large paws and long legs tripped over her small body, rolling her over on her back a foot or two away, leaving her to stare at the offender in shock.

"You tripped over me?" she said incredulously. How could he have tripped over her? She was so easy to spot--well, actually, not so easy in these tall grasses.

"No, I'm fine," she quickly added, rolling to a sitting position. "What are you doing all the way out here?"

What she really wanted to ask, though, was what he was, exactly. She had never seen a hyena before.

"Yes, I did..." Asadaki admitted, feeling a little embaressed about that. He had always been so careful... but she had been very small and hidden by the grass. That was more than enough to make him feel a little sheepish.

"I'm glad you're alright, I didn't mean to hurt you..." He said, quickly glancing her over to make sure he really hadn't done her any injury. She was a female too... What would it do to his honor if he had hurt a girl?

"I'm sorry... I was merely searching for something to eat." The hyena admitted, "I haven't found anything yet though... what are you doing out here...?" He paused, "I'm sorry, where are my manners? What is your name miss?"

Kali nodded his apology away. It wasn't his fault, right? He was so big and tall that he couldn't see where he was stepping; had to keep his eyes on what lay ahead rather than where his paws were taking him.

No big deal.

"As long as I'm away from my family, I really could care less about where I'm headed," she replied.

"Kali," she added, introducing herself. "Yours?"

"Asadaki... or Asa, if you'd like." The young hyenas in his pack had always called him Asa... That all felt like such a long time ago. He wondered how they were all faring without him...

"Away from your family? Why do you want away from them?" He asked, curious. He and Biku had their own reasons for leaving home... or rather, he had his own reasons and had dragged his sister with him. He wondered if this cub had similar reasons... or perhaps she only wanted some time alone.

Kali raised an eyebrow but nodded again.

"Nice to meet you, Asa," she returned politely. Just because someone trips over you doesn't mean that you shouldn't remember your manners.

"It's not so much that I hate them," she began, finding it quite easy to spill all her feelings and emotions in front of a stranger, "it's just that I find them so boring and mundane. I want to meet so many other new people, learn new things." She shrugged.

"I guess it sounds silly. It probably is." But she didn't care.

Asa nodded, "A pleasure to meet you as well, Kali." He said kindly, before he listened to what she had to say about her own family. It was certainly far different than his own... for his pack had never been what he would call boring... but he supposed her reasons were actually quite... well, they were part of why he had left home. Not the big reason, but part of the small ones.

"I can understand that, I suppose..." He nodded to her, "When I lived in my pack... I also wanted to go out and see the world, though I feared leaving my sister Biku behind... and hyenas can be so set in their ways, it can be difficult for our elders to understand..."

He shook his head, "No, it isn't silly. You are trusting who you are, which I think is rather excellent at your age..." He hadn't found the courage to escape until it was almost too late... "Though you should probably be careful out here. There's no telling what a predator could do to you."

A hyena? So that's what he was. She didn't think he looked feline at all, so there was no way he could be a lion like herself. Or a cheetah, or a leopard, she supposed.

"A hyena?" she repeated. "Where do you come from, then? You're the first of your kind that I've ever seen." To be honest with herself, she was quite curious to know more about his kind. All she had ever known about was lions, and knowing all about your own species became boring after a while.

But she took his last words to heart. Yes, she should be careful, even if she was more mature for her age than her siblings (and probably other lions, as well).

"Thank you for the advice," she said, truly thankful. "I shall remember it. And I promise not to be too irrational and always stay safe," she added with a grin.

Asadaki smiled a little, "Yes, I hope you are careful... But you should continue to seek knowledge. It is good to see such curisoity in one so young..." Gods knew, he certainly hadn't cared for much of anything at her age except his own pride and ego.

"Ah, yes..." He thought about himself, "I come from a pack of hyenas, far to the west of here... But my sister and I decided we no longer wished to stay there." Well, he had decided anyway. Biku hadn't had much choice in the matter, "It's no wonder you haven't seen a member of my pack way out here... but I don't know where any other packs are. I'd never left my own until recently." He smiled a little, "Nor had I met any lions until now... I only know what you are because my father once decribed your kind to me... he was very good at telling stories."

"You have a sister? Is she like you?" Kali wanted to know. "Why did you leave in the first place?"

Her curiosity was getting the better of her, to her disappointment. She knew better than this.

She quickly caught herself before she asked any more rude questions.

"I'm sorry, you don't have to answer if you don't want to. That was rude of me to ask." Although she said the polite words, she half wished he would ignore her apology and go on to explain anyway. She was, after all, a curious thing.

"You learned about us in a story?" She couldn't hep but giggle. "He told you stories about lions?"

Asadaki chuckled a little, "No, no, it is quite alright... my sister looks almost exactly like me, we're twins... her colors are like mine, only reversed... and she's much prettier than I am." He admitted... well, truth be told, she was so beautiful she dazzled him sometimes.

"We left home... because... well, we didn't like it there anymore." Probably best to leave it at that. Pack politics may be a little too complex to explain... and even then, probably wouldn't have been understood. Even he didn't get it sometimes.

He smiled a little, "Well, you've never seen a hyena before, I've never seen a lion before. And I wasn't as adventurous as you are when I was little."

Kali smiled. "Twin sister? That must be interesting sometimes," she thought. Talking to strangers was becoming easier as the minutes passed by. Easier than she ever thought it would be.

"That's true," she giggled. "I've never seen you, and you'd never seen me. I guess now we're pretty even.

"Although, speaking of home, I should probably get going." She rolled her eyes. "Don't think they'll worry too much about me, but you never know these days. It was nice talking with you, Asa. I hope I'll see you around again." Kali stood up, getting ready to head back the way she came.

Asadaki watched her go and smiled a little, "So... that's a lion. How nice..." Very similar to what his father had described, but much smaller.

Then he thought back to Biku with a start, "Oh... Dabiku..." He had forgotten her with the excitement of seeing another living soul. He had to get back and see her again...

...but first he had to find her something to eat. And himself something to eat, for that matter.
