Nice collections of modest swimwear (I've also put this post in the Head Covering guild and here in the Jewish Information subforum):

Conforms to Jewish modesty laws: Full body & headwear

Conforms to Muslim modesty laws: Headwear for those who want to protect their hair dye from fading and reduce tangles

More Muslim-appropriate swimwear: Burqini with Hijood

More Jewish modesty, albeit a bit prairie-style: Prairie swim dress

Sun protective (albeit minimally): Ohana

More Muslim swimwear: Wide variety of colors

More Muslim swimwear: Lots of patterns, and some are on sale

There's a lot more modest Muslim swimwear, but here's the last URL I'll give yp; look for more if you want it: http://bodykini.com/

Conforms to Mormon modesty laws: Cap-sleeve with knee exposure, or extended wear with covered elbows and knees

couldn't someone just wear a normal everyday swimming suit and just go to a same sex swimming event??? >.>It all seems a bit over-done to me. I mean if you are going to go that far with stretchy and water resistant fabric couldn't you just create a same sex swimming area???

You could, but both are equally difficult. Plus, it would be difficult to tell males they can't swim in a pool for a while. blaugh

Of course you could. If you own the beach yourself, and if you can be sure that no male can come near enough to clearly see any woman who's swimming. Or if you own your own pool, of course. Anybody here own a beach or a pool? 'Cause I don't.

If your community has a high number of religious Jews and Muslims who can support women-only and men-only swimming times, you might be able to get a community pool (indoor, of course). My neighborhood has this -- a VERY high percentage of Orthodox and Sephardi Jews, a VERY high percentage of observant Muslims -- and do you want to know about our women-only hours? Oh, it's great. One hour, twice a week, and you pay $5 to swim for that one hour. Which happens to be during the time I'm on the train coming home from work, but hey, if the stay-home moms are happy, I'm happy, even though I'm not swimming because I have to earn a living.

Or you could just restrict yourself, instead of restricting every male in the community from going to the community pool, or the beach. Personally, I like being outdoors if possible. I like beach swimming, river rafting, boating, canoeing, and engaging in other outdoor water activities. I don't mind a pool, even indoors, but it's not my favorite thing.

These swimsuits I've pointed out aren't much more covering than what the Olympic swimmers are wearing nowadays, and they're not nearly as tight. Olympic swimsuits are tight now because it makes them more aquadynamic, but they're SO tight that the swimmers have to be helped into and out of the suits. Yet they swim very well, and don't seem at all upset about it, so maybe covering isn't as uncomfortable as a lot of folks (else-guild) seem to think.

We have a pool in our backyard. Also, I live in Florida. About half of the houses here have pools, especially the new ones. I like the beach more, and I checked out the sites for rashguard information (swim T-shirt). I tried going to the beach without one, and I got burned. I might get one that covers my face because it also gets burned. It is not only for the Jewish modesty laws...because I am not a Jew.

Yep. Religious modesty laws help with modesty for religious purposes, but they also have the wonderful side benefit of saving us the temporary pain of sunburn and the strong possibility of skin cancer.
