Over the recent weeks Zebadie had found herself less and less mobile. her stomach huge, her sides aching from all the extra weight which weighed down her normally slender form.

barely able to walk, let alone run,s he often found herself simply sitting in the shade, or in the sun, chewing the cud.

Although she had never been pregnant before, she had seen females whom were baring fawns, they never got this big though. She started to ponder what was going on, worried what exactly would emerge from her womb when the time came.

Her worries passed as quickly as they came though, she knew that Palahala was watching over her always, even when he wasn't there, he was beside her making sure she was cared for.

Her time would come and she would give birth to a fawn or two, and they would be happy, healthy and safe, forever safe.

It was a very uncomfortable feeling at first, the feeling of something kicking her sides, she moved uncomfortably, and got to her feet, ever so slowly, laberously, it was hard work moving these days, her body was so difficult to convince in to motion. She had no choice though it seemed, laying down was hurting. Taking a slow step she stopped and looked at her large bulky stomach, her gaze filtering over the bulk she gave a long, exasperated sigh and a grunt of pain.

What was happening? She knew hat was happening it was time. Searching around the high valley walls she slowly started to walk in little tight circles, attempting to stop the pain raking her body.

It would be okay, it would be alright, she was just having the fawns, nothing bad was going to happen. Palahala wouldn't let it. She let out a cry of pain then laying back down without a moments thought. It was time.

It was then that Palahala almost dropped out of the sky. His tail flickered happily as he trotted up to the female. "It's okay Zebadie, I'm here" He whispers his ears flickering as he settled beside the zebra stripped female.

he groomed her ears gently and smiled his voice a calming influence over prey beasts, he cared deeply for Zebadie, he wanted her to be safe and secure, loved and without pain. he could do the first two but he could do nothing about the pain, this was the process of birth.

"I'm with you." he smiles.

Zebadie breathed a sigh of relief as she looked up at Palahala. he was here. She felt his calming influence wash over her, it was strange for a moment he was the father of this herd not her fawn, he was her protector while she gave birth.

The thoughts were jolted from her mind as the pains started up once again and she was forced to push.

The first fawn fell in to the world tiny and soggy and without a moments hesitation she zebra stripped femme licked away the dampness from him.

"A boy." she breathed admiring the young buck happily.

She wasn't given long to relax though as another pain shot through her body. Twins, she was to have twins. Tensing and relaxing she heaved a great sigh of exasperation as she pushed the second child from ehr womb.

A daughter this time, she smiled weakly, this giving birth thing was harder work than she expected.

Palahala let out a happy little bleat as he witnessed these first fawns entering his world. His herds first youngsters. They were tiny and damp but it didn't take them long to jump to their hooves.

He knew that lion cubs were born blind and helpless and he felt so proud of the tiny versions of their mother, they were ready to go only moments after being born!

Zebadie chuckled quietly watching her fawns in a pleased, motherly manner, it was only when another pain raked her body that she looked ratehr shocked. three? It seemed she wasn't finished yet.

Without the option of choice the little klipspringer pushed and brought forth a third fawn.

Surely this had to be it, two daughters and a son, her first litter and it was a large one, which to say the least was unexpected.

She wasn't to get any sort of respite though for her stomach tensed once again and she heaved a loud painful cry as she brought forth a rather odd looking fawn.

He stood out from his previous siblings, blue, she smiled, she didn't care, he was beautiful and she was running out of energy.

Still it seemed she was not able to relax yet, her womb heaved and the final fawn dropped in to the world.

Breathing a heavy sigh she flopped exhausted against the little god whom she thought of as her fawn. "It seems we have been very blessed." she breathed her soft brown eyes looking out at the five teeny little fawns as they dragged themselves to their hooves.

She had never heard of such a large litter, but perhaps there would be many more in the future, after all this was a special place.

Palahala watched as the five little fawns clambered to their hooves. It only occurred to him after a few moments that Klispringers didn't usually give birth to this many fawns. he laughed and shook his head. "They are beautiful Zebadie, I will care for them forever." he whispers watching those first clumsy steps, he hoped many more fawns would be born in to this safety, in to his Valley.

"Rest now, I'll watch the fawns until you waken." he coos smiling at the tiny stumbling fawns. they were all healthy, small but healthy, he was proud of them and of his friend, ever so proud of Zebadie.

The zebra stripped klippy smiled sleepily as she rested against the young god, she knew they would be safe with Palahala, she would question their number another time for now they were alive and well and beautiful, five little blessings.
