 Abeni licked her maw, eyes half lidded in pleasure. It wasn't often that she caught something as large as a deer or antelope... Usually she fed on rabbits and other vermin. Hunting alone was no easy thing...
But she had just finished a wonderful meal. Beside her laid the left overs. Mostly bones and skin that had been licked clean. She did not waste a bite, knowing it might be her last for a while.
And now the question was... What to do now? She'd fed, there was a small stream near by... Perhaps she should find somewhere to sleep for the night, it would be dark soon...

 Katavi had been wandering aimlessly, lost in the contours of her mind, when a whisk of wind carrying the chill of an oncoming night forced her to reality. The lioness paused as the wind embraced her, breathing in its revelations, before it plowed away once more. Her icy eyes narrowed as she considered the scents it had carried; wet earth, the faint aroma of a fallen preything, and overwhelmingly the distinct scent of a fellow lioness. Not far ahead, she gauged with an exasperated sigh. She really was not in the mood for an encounter of any kind. Not tonight. But there was something peculiar about that scent... something more. Something familiar, perhaps? Curiosity drove her onward towards the sunset, which bled deep red into the darkening sky and illuminated her black coat with a touch of pink; almost, she thought, like an omen.

Abeni continued to lick at her fur, cleaning all the blood and gore from her paws, then rubbing at her maw. Once she was done she stood and stretched, purring like a content kitten.
She'd decided that it'd be best to find shelter for now. She didn't need much, a shaded tree would be more than enough for her curl up under. Her eyes squinted and she glanced around at the horizon, searching for a suitable tree. What she saw made her blink, gold eyes disappearing into the blackness of her fur. A dark lioness on the horizon, barely visible. The scent confirmed it. Luckily, she had already finished eating, so she didn't have to fear her meal being stolen.
But who knew if this lioness was friendly... So she shifted into a patch of longer grass and settled down, trying to blend into her surroundings.
