[for those who dont know about it...]
Ramadan: it is a month amongst the 12 months in the Islamic [Muslim] calendar. it is a well known month because in this month its compulsory upon all the muslims to fast from sunrise to sunset.
WHY starve oneself?
the reason behind this, is so that we [the muslims] understand how the poor people around the world deal with their hunger day by day. for us, this is merely a month of fast, but for them [the poor and less fortunate] its a lifestyle. so to understand their pain.
ALSO
in this month it is compulsory upon the muslims to pay [a certain percentage from all your earnings and possessions] charity. its so that we can spread the blessings [money] that Allah[aka: god] gave to us, and give it to those who are needy and poor.
